  1. "Cleveland" full episode http://www.nbc.com/Video/rewind/full_episodes/30rock.shtml
  2. "Chef Boyardee was born here, yooou knooow" Damn that's some good music.
  3. I'm loving all the postive comments. They are also in the process of posting two more "Cleveland" movie clips on the website.
  4. whoa, check this out. They have an "interactive" map of Cleveland on the 30 Rock website. http://www.nbc.com/30_Rock/ The "Cleveland" episode airs tonight at 9 on NBC

Climbing was great!! I didn't have that cool equipment though (and I almost fell twice...so I probably should have), but the views were worth it once i got to the top. I was just a little cut up and bruised in some places.
  6. There has been no update on the website as well for over a month. http://www.theavenuedistrict.com
  7. My brother lives downtown and works in Eastlake, and he says he gets the best of many worlds: no rush hour on the way to work, downtown feel and amenties, enough out of the snowbelt (yes Painesville is definitely in the snow belt). It really wouldn't be that bad of a drive from Downtown/Ohio city (w 25th) and you may enjoy it more.
  8. Cut the power and start digging!
  9. This one line caught my attention from last month's e4 newsletter. (located here: http://www.east4thstreet.com/media/assets/Newsletter_2007_03.pdf). Teresa's Pizza, serving up its unique home-style pizza in the Cleveland area since 1969, will integrate its already renowned pizza and pasta concept into a bistro style setting with an old world Italian flare. Sit down dining, along with beer and wine will enhance the experience. The concept also includes full service lunches and downtown lunch delivery. The new Euclid Avenue location, next to Jimmy John's Sub Shop, will be Teresa's Pizza twelfth location as well as serve as its flagship store. Teresa's Pizza is slated to open in Spring of this year. Especially for a Flagship store, I really hope they are not saying that Lunch is their main emphasis for this prime location. For a neighborhood that is quickly rising in population and getting closer to a 24 hr feel, this would be a sin if they closed by 10 or even midnight. Besides that fact, they could make a killing by selling pizza by the slice for those of us walking between E. 4th and W. 6th (I know I would stop in a buy a slice or two fairly regularly if I were in a drunken and/or possibly sober state) or even just anyone who goes to or lives in e4 (or downtown for that matter). ------------------------------ EDIT: After going to their website, I think I must have misinterpreted their write up and jumped the gun. Most of their other locations stay open until at least 10 and some until midnight. http://www.teresaspizza.net/locations.html On that note, I still hope they keep this one open until 2-3 am for the late night crowds.

Everything I needed I walked, so I didn't get a chance to ride the "Uta Trax." I did take a cab to go to the base of the mountain for some climbing, but that was it. Most of the Trax I saw where positioned in the middle of the roads, which I'm assuming is what Dallas has. Here's possibly the most "impressive" of the Skyline architecture besides the Morman Temple (which they wouldn't let me go in..!):

Also, there are a total of 90 residental units in the building...but still, maybe urbanlife has the best guess.
  12. Has there been a location selected yet? Zocalo? Flannery's? the Arcade? ...the Library?
  13. Apparently, this upcoming episode and at least the following one will have Cleveland in the storyline.
  14. 30 Rock will also be having a reoccurring character who has just moved from Cleveland to New York in an upcoming episode. Possibly Tina Fey will be interested in "Cleveland" or "Midwest," meaning the character. In fact, the store Cleveland and Beyond located in the Arcade has provided some of his office decorations and T-shirts of the character, including a newly made "I love Cleveland" T-shirt (note to other UOers, wink wink). If his first episode is not this one, then keep an eye on future episodes that this episode may create the lead in for. Apparently he is supposed to be a more of a hip character, so hopefully a slightly good image for the city? I'm not too worried on this one though.

cle2032, I'm in the same boat as you...but I only have one more year of school until I can try and make a difference. (biochemistry major as well to go along with your biotech potential) EDIT: to stay on topic.. Menn says the company the state chose to design the bridge used his famous name to win the $22 million contract and then ignored his input. The 81-year-old engineer now says he wants nothing more to do with the project. 81! Geez...talk about the need for fresh Clevelanders and new ideas. But he also was around during Cleveland's prime 50 -60 years ago, so maybe we should listen to him... In all seriousness though, it's great that he got ODOT and the rest of the community to take one last look before we build something with so very much of our tax dollars. This is a very broad question, but... What are some other age ranges and time spent on the job for all the other city planners and decision makers? (I still love Stark's quote about "out with the Old Guard and in with the new".)
  16. I agree. I click on here expecting to read about Cleveland and I have to sift through to only discover the majority are about suburbs or beyond. Not that I really want it, but would it be better to have a separate suburbs development thread that wouldn't clutter up the Cleveland one?
  17. I spent this past weekend in beautiful Salt Lake City for a National Leadership Convention within the Air Force. The city seemed very clean and modern, but this was most likely due to the major overhall that occurred while hosting the 2002 Winter Olympics. One interesting note is that they have a huge outdoor mall, residental, and commerical (mixed-use) section of the downtownconstantly full of people--hopefully very similar for what Robert Stark will be starting with Cleveland in the next year. Last side note, the regional convention will be held in Cleveland this November with myself as the Directer of Operations (logistics of what everyone will be doing while in the city). Enjoy:
  18. I whole-heartedly agree with the need of some sort of signage for the everyday passer-byers (especially for the consistently negative Cleveland folk who still may not have any idea what is going on), but to tourists, CONSTRUCTION=PROGRESS. I would guess a majority did not have cars, thus did not have to deal with the "burden" many Clevelanders go through everyday. I personally talked with a lot of the Final Four fans over the long weekend, and I am happy to announce a large number were greatly enjoying themselves (especially E. 4th and W. 6th many seemed to mention). Besides their overall approval, I happened to ask a few their opinion on all the construction. The responses were all honestly consistent "Cleveland looks like they have a lot going from them in the near future" and "I can tell this area is getting nicer and nicer" and "it's great to see so much progress." Two were even confused by the question (but they may have also been drunk at the time...). Although RTA seems to be going at a snails pace for the good of the city, most tourists didn’t seem to notice. Bottom line: to Clevelanders, signage is needed to help reduce the negativity and increase awareness. To tourists, not so much (but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt too much).
  19. I believe Theresa's Pizza is also June. They are listed as Spring 2007.
  20. B, If you are being serious, then I (and hopefully many others) whole-heartedly DISAGREE. If anything, their presence is needed more after 7 pm for those remaining residents and businessmen/tourists still on the street. Is there really any reason to have a bunch of ambassadors roaming around City Hall when there isn't anyone there at that time? My brother lives downtown, and he's usually still on the streets after 7 pm. If they decided to call it quits at that time, it would only reinforce the depressing sediment to the public and residents that this is only an 8-5 mon-fri type of place, which personally makes me want to gag. Any great city is a 24 hr 7 days a week, and little by little (snails pace mind you) Cleveland is getting there. Any little baby steps, whether it is the ambassadors working until midnight shifts or the current steady increase of Downtown residents, is helping downtown Cleveland move forward.

Another interesting note: If Cleveland happened to annex a couple of their interring (bordering) suburbs, the city would actually increase in density: Lakewood: 53,244 pop/6 sq miles = 8874 people/sq mi. Cleveland Heights: 48,029 pop/8 sq miles = 6004 people/sq mi "New Cleveland": 555,481 pop/92 sq miles = 6037 people/sq mi -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parma: 81,469 pop/20 sq miles = 4073 people/sq mi ...is more "urban" than Columbus ;)
  22. MuRrAy HiLL replied to a post in a topic in City Discussion
    Interesting statistic (information from Emporis): Cleveland: 454,208 pop/78 sq. miles = 5797 people/sq mi Columbus: 730,657 pop/210 sq. miles = 3479 people/sq mi Cincinnati: 331,310 pop/78 sq. miles = 4247 people/sq mi
  23. Updates: La Strada will open late June according to the owner. Here are some pictures of Theresa's (1) and Zocalo (2-5): (the alley shot is facing E. 4th)
  24. The art complex looks great--sleak, up to the street (anti-old CSU!), and a showcase piece for the university. Great for the city and for Cleveland State. The only aspect I somewhat dislike are the two indoor pedestrian bridges that take away from the street life. But if it's needed especially for cold weather, then I'll take it. Nice job Reed Leskosky firm of Westlake.
  25. I like it a lot urban manna, and welcome to the forum! Not only would this potenitally help Cleveland in a number of ways, but just by having the name "Lakefront loop," it will constantly remind Clevelanders (and tourists) of Cleveland great resource--Lake Erie.
