Cleveland: Downtown Cleveland Alliance News & Discussion
Here's my take on the Ambassadors: - Their presence is much needed and greatly appreciated. - Helping citizens and tourists is important for the city. Cleaning up while doing is also great a a number of reasons. - They should not be expected to do law enforcement--but their presence does help deter criminals (another set of eyes) - Overall, great for the city, its citizens, and tourists (I personally witnessed them helping out numerous tourists during their visit for the NCAA women's Final Four--nice work) EDIT: And whoever came on here with ambassador names for this specific thread was very unneeded (not to mention immature and counterproductive) My respect for the Ambassador's is still high (and has not changed) even after the random and forced attempt by whomever to defend whatever it was.

Cleveland: Natural History Museum Renovation and Expansion
The more times I look at the CWRU new dorms, the more genius I realize they are. They are unique, up to the street, and keep the same flow of the surrounding buildings. These dorms will last a long time, and that's how it needs to be. Things i know about the dorms off the top of my head -7 building designs, all are unique from each other (to get away from the cookie-cutter style of dorm) -no two rooms are alike, other than the rooms immediately above or below. -the dorms are actually the walls to the football (and soccer) stadium. -Built SOLID. All brick and copper roofs. Here to stay. -Built right up to the road and keep the same feel of the surrounding neighborhood, yet still look modern... 1600??? I don't understand. -Every lobby is based off a Cleveland Art Museum painting with custom made furniture matching the theme (not architecture, but still cool) Here are some pictures I took 3 days ago..even the pictures don't do it justice to how great they look:

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
Two interesting points (in my opinion) were said by Doug Price at the "Professionals in the city:" 1) three $500,000+ condos have already been resold in the past two months at 10-25% than what the original owner paid--increasing property value. 2) "Water Park Hotel" ...what?! Did anyone else catch that??
-
Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Tonight at the "Professionals in the City," Steve Strnisha mentioned: -500 residential units (ranging from expensive condos to renting at $700/month) -besides the water front location and city convienences, they are going for being "unique to cleveland"--no copy cat schemes -Buy and sell residental units by the end of this year (don't think build was mentioned for this year, which is expected)

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
I took notes on everyone, but here are my notes on Stark: Construction to begin April to May 2008 Completion slated for 2011 1 million sq ft retail 2 milion sq ft office space 1 million+ sq ft residential $1-1.5 Billion very outspoken--best presence and speaker there (although Ari Maron, Doug Price, and Steve Strnisha did very well too) "first american bike city..." "create a new city" "old guard needs to get out of the way...time to step aside"

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
That doesn't make any sense man. If anything, you'd want to post places selling to make people take note and feel like they need to hurry and buy one before they're all gone. Posting increasing sales also shows success and growth of a project which helps in countless aspects in and around the neighborhood. but then again, there may be a good reason for not posting the current sales figures yet...

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
Map Boy, if you haven't had your question answered, you were correct. The building was a little over twice its current size, which must also be why both buildings are now named W.T. Grant. Check out this picture of Euclid Ave. from 1920 as proof: (taken from Cleveland Memory)

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
I ate a Flannery's pub for dinner (after an amazing acrobats show in Playhouse Square). You are correct about the location alley way...it just looks so narrow though, doesn't it? I was trying to visualize the flow of traffic where it seems it can only handle 4-5 wide at most. Either way, I'm sure it will make for a great atmosphere.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
That's funny. I thought that right after I posted that I probably see him more than most people on here. I'll find out this weekend if he's around.

Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments
This street is looks better everyday I walk past it. I believe the quick rundown for the new openings by hopefully the end of May/June: Zocalo Theresa's Pizza? Wonder Bar I'm highly impressed with Trifecta. They are quality and face-paced. They seem to stick to their word about timelines, and are damn creative (Corner Alley, Flannery's Pub revamping, Zocalo...). Next question about East 4th: What's the timeline for the opening of Terry Tarantino's La Strada World Cafe on the NW corner?

Cleveland: Bob Stark Warehouse District Project
It starts at 6 pm.

help! moving to cleveland from boston in june!!!
Pup, MyTwoSense pretty much hit everything on the head with his first post. For your situation, I would still highly push looking into apartments in Ohio City (around W 25th). Your GF could ride the Red Line from the Airport at a straight shot right to your apartment at the W 25th stop, the Westside Market will be right at your doorstep, and you'll have everything you need around you from a city...not to mention enough distance away from work so you feel like you actually leave the place. Personally, I live in the area 2 mins from University Hospital and love it, so it must mean something that I am steering you to check out Ohio City as the best fit.

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
Would it be impossible to turn some of those historic buildings into a bike or repair shop? (which would obviously compliment the park). Perfect location with minimal renovations needed, plus an expected amount of business.

I have heard the cries, comments, and suggestions....here's a little more of an addition:

Cleveland: Marketing the City

Skylines Combined--Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati =)
Unfortunately, the One Nationwide Plaza didn't appear in any Columbus skyline views I could find. Any picture I found of it, it was pretty much by itself. I don't really know the skyline to well, so I didn't have any perspective where to put it. Would it go best roughly over where Cincinnati is?? Thanks! I unfortunately don't have the time to focus much on this right now. This was more just to give me a study break and allow me to do something that’s not related to chemistry (my current religion). Maybe down the road we can talk about it.
