  1. Much of these repairs will be on Rocky River Reservation property: ODOT announces $3.35 million project to fix eroding slopes in Rocky River, Lakewood, Fairview Park and Cleveland Updated 6:22 AM;Today 6:11 AM By John Benson, special to cleveland.com LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- Eroding slopes along the Rocky River are forcing the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to take action underneath I-90, I-480 and Lorain Road in Rocky River, Lakewood, Fairview Park and Cleveland. The estimated $3.35 million project is tentatively scheduled to start in the spring. Because areas of the Rocky River Reservation have been enhanced through the Land & Water Conservation Fund Program, public input is required before the park property can be utilized to perform the slope repairs. “We are asking for comments to be submitted for the project,” Kovacs said. https://www.cleveland.com/community/2019/11/odot-announces-335-million-project-to-fix-eroding-slopes-in-rocky-river-lakewood-fairview-park-and-cleveland.html

  16. For those not too familiar with Akron geography, here is West Hill on the map...which is notably closer to Downtown than Highland Square: ------ First Look: Spotted Owl Bar in Akron’s West Hill Neighborhood Posted By Douglas Trattner on Wed, Oct 9, 2019 at 3:39 pm The Spotted Owl just celebrated its fifth anniversary in Tremont, and by the end of the month the cocktail bar will open a second location, this one in the West Hill neighborhood of Akron. Owner Will Hollingsworth has spent the past year converting the old Firehouse No. 3 at 60 S. Maple St. into an attractive, warmly lit watering hole. The turn-of-the-century building, once home to the fire station that now resides across the street, features 16-foot ceilings clad in gorgeous honey-toned wood. Cut-outs for a pair of fireman’s poles, now patched up, can still be seen above. The spacious 3,000-square-foot room will seat 75 guests at the bar, high-tops and a couple of sumptuous velvet booths. “The building has great bones,” says Hollingsworth. “I wanted to keep things simple. The space knows what it wants to be, you just have to listen.” https://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2019/10/09/first-look-spotted-owl-bar-in-akrons-west-hill-neighborhood
  17. Cleveland Seeks Developer in Next Stage of Large Downtown Microgrid Project November 4, 2019 By Andrew Burger Ohio’s Cuyahoga County and partners have issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) seeking a developer for what could become a $100 million microgrid district in downtown Cleveland. Working with the City of Cleveland, Cleveland Public Power and the Cleveland Organization, the county seeks responses to the RFQ by November 15. Cleveland’s downtown microgrid district would be of a size and scope and nature seen in few microgrids to date. According to project plans, it would encompass Cleveland’s central business district, a two- to three-square-mile area, bound roughly by Interstate 90 and the Cuyahoga River. https://microgridknowledge.com/cleveland-microgrid-district/

  19. I'm just bummed it isn't called the "BirdRite" building: Revitalization of Lakewood’s Birdtown district continues with redevelopment of former BiRite building Updated 9:38 AM;Today 9:06 AM By Jordyn Grzelewski, The Plain Dealer LAKEWOOD, Ohio — A new plan to redevelop the former BiRite building on Madison Avenue will be a step forward in what city officials, local business owners and real-estate brokers say is a wave of reinvestment in this city’s historic Birdtown neighborhood. The building at 12501 Madison Ave. recently sold to an investor group tied to local business owner and real-estate developer Jim Miketo. Miketo’s group — called Neighborhood Drummer, after a line in a Bruce Springsteen song — plans to convert the vacant building into apartments and first-floor retail. Miketo’s group envisions between 16 and 20 residential units on top of 9,000 square feet of retail space, though what type of retail is still being determined. The apartments will be market rate, renting at between $1.25 and $1.50 per square foot. The developer plans to add a 1,500-square-foot fitness center, as well as a rooftop deck with views of Lake Erie and downtown Cleveland. https://www.cleveland.com/business/2019/11/revitalization-of-lakewoods-birdtown-district-continues-with-redevelopment-of-former-birite-building.html
  20. Incredible...any chance you'll be able to get a picture from the same vantage point once completed for a jaw-dropping "before and after?"
  21. Current Cleveland city planning codes would never allow for this to happen. We're going to continue to get set backs, parking spacing, and single use. Cleveland would need to adopt similar zoning codes as a Portland or Seattle. But to police myself for getting off topic, this can be discussed further here: ? :
