The proposed $7 million complex of five buildings at 12408-12418 Euclid Ave. would replace a two-story retail-apartment commercial structure and two industrial buildings. The project is proposed by Perotti Development Co. Western Reserve History Society rating is getting absolutely destroyed right now from random people (mostly moms) from across the country giving "1-star" https://www.facebook.com/WRHSHistory/reviews/ WRHS apologied on behalf of its two employees last night, and again today multiple times, including outlining next steps to make sure it doesn't happen again.... yet the world of internet shaming continues to pour in: http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2016/03/breast-feeding_moms_welcome_at_western_reserve_historical_society_which_faced_backlash_when_mother_told_to_stop.html

Fantastic news for Hingetown and Ohio City! And another beer destination: Long dormant Steelman Building in Ohio City's Hingetown soon to become home of Saucy Brew Works By Steven Litt, The Plain Dealer Follow on Twitter on March 21, 2016 at 12:42 PM, updated March 21, 2016 at 12:55 PM CLEVELAND, Ohio – The long-dormant Steelman Building in Ohio City's Hingetown, once considered as a possible new home for Spaces gallery, will soon be renovated as the home of Saucy Brew Works, an "artisan pizza brewery." The one-story, 13,300-square-foot brick building, at the southeast corner of Detroit Avenue and West 29th Street, will include several retail storefronts and the new brew works. http://www.cleveland.com/architecture/index.ssf/2016/03/long_dormant_steelman_building.html#incart_gallery

Cleveland: TV / Film Industry News
Could Geauga Lake become a movie production site? WKYC and Hilary Golston , WKYC 12:26 AM. EST March 02, 2016 AURORA - Geauga Lake has sat vacant for years, but steps have been taken to transform the old amusement park into a potential sound stage setting for movie production. At Cleveland Comic Con, Ivan Schwarz, director of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission, said they are working on legislation to raise the motion picture tax incentive from $20 million to $75 million per year. The Ohio House of Representatives has already been presented with a bill, Schwarz tells WKYC Channel 3's Hilary Golston. According to Midwest Movie Maker, "the Ohio Film Tax Credit provides for a refundable credit against the corporation franchise or income tax for motion pictures produced in Ohio. The tax credit is equal to 25 percent of non-wage and nonresident wage Ohio production expenditures and 35 percent of Ohio resident wage production expenditures. Up to $5 million in credits is available per production." http://www.wkyc.com/news/local/geauga-county/could-geauga-lake-become-a-movie-studio/63400939

Cleveland: Wikipedia project
In regards to expanding other Cleveland wiki pages: I found myself reading up on CWRU football history, and before I knew it, I created a wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Case_Western_Reserve_Spartans_football Some interesting history for Case and Western Reserve football. Who knew Knute Rockne made his coaching debut in University Circle? Or a Case football player was the first professional player to throw a forward pass? Another fun fact -- Western Reserve is the only Ohio team with a winning record against the OSU Buckeyes. Supposedly a buckeye tree was planted on Case campus during the last meeting in 1934 ... Anyone know if this tree is still alive? The "Big Four Conference" was a pleasant find for college football in Cleveland during 1930's and 1940's. I wonder if the Campbell city trophy still exists today somewhere? All I could figure out is that it was named after the president of the Cleveland Club, who built the Tudor Arms hotel building.

Jesse Owens
With the new movie out "Race:" I was pondering just how Ohio remembers one of their own. The stadium and statues of course in Columbus, and the statue in Downtown Cleveland...anywhere else is Jesse honored? One thing I found interesting -- there is no marker or plaque if front of his old Cleveland home: 2178 East 100th Street, Cleveland, OH 44106 http://www.clevelandareahistory.com/2009/11/save-jesse-owens-house.html

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
In Cleveland, they built it, and riders came, along with a whole lot more by Nancy Derringer Bridge Magazine When he arrived from New York City in 2000, Calabrese wasn’t taking over a system in the same shape as Metro Detroit’s. The Cleveland region supports its public transit with a 1 percent sales tax, and rail commuting was well-established there. But Euclid needed improvements that new buses alone couldn’t accomplish. And new light rail was prohibitively expensive. Former Gov. George Voinovich had seen bus rapid transit on a trip to Brazil. He wondered if it could work in his hometown. As it turned out, it could. The BRT line that was constructed beginning in 2005 opened three years later, at a total cost of $200 million, about half provided by the federal government. Today, Calabrese said, it boasts the highest return on investment for any public transit project in the country – $114 for every dollar spent. http://bridgemi.com/2016/02/in-cleveland-they-built-it-and-riders-came-along-with-a-whole-lot-more/

Cleveland Browns Discussion
This makes me smile :) There was a time when the NFL played second fiddle to its older collegiate brother, as well as to Major League Baseball. As an example, there was a significant fear when the Cleveland Browns were founded in 1946 that they would not be able to compete in popularity with local college favorites such as John Carroll, Baldwin-Wallace, and Case Western Reserve (all now Division III teams). http://www.sikids.com/si-kids/2016/02/05/ode-super-bowl-now-50-years-young

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
New Kimpton hotel, the Schofield, opens in March and will include unique Cleveland features By Susan Glaser, The Plain Dealer Email the author | Follow on Twitter on February 03, 2016 at 9:13 AM, updated February 03, 2016 at 9:24 AM CLEVELAND, Ohio – The city's new Kimpton hotel, the Schofield, will open next month with some uniquely Cleveland features, including a loaner guitar program and an overnight package that celebrates the city's craft beer scene. With a nod to Northeast Ohio's historic Barber Match Co., vintage matchbooks have been transformed into custom prints in each room; and American Splendor comic books, by the late Harvey Pekar, will be available for paging through in the lobby. The $50 million transformation of the former Schofield Building, at the corner of East 9th Street and Euclid Avenue, is nearly complete, after more than five years of renovation work that included the restoration of the building's original terra-cotta façade, covered by steel for the past 40 years. In addition to 122 hotel rooms and six suites, the 1902 building -- named after the Cleveland architect, Levi Scofield, who designed it – also will feature 52 luxury apartments. http://www.cleveland.com/travel/index.ssf/2016/02/new_kimpton_hotel_the_schofiel.html#incart_river_home

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I know Andy wants to be here to experience a championship. From a previous article...but I also understand business is business: "If I go anywhere else and win a championship, it's not going to be the same," he said. "I want to win a championship in Cleveland. That's where I want to stay. I love Cleveland." … But why rot on the bench if you feel you're capable of producing at a high level? "Because Cleveland's been loyal to me and I've been loyal to the team," he responded. "I had a chance to leave when the team was really bad, going through a rebuilding process when we were losing almost every other game, and it was tough. I said, 'I'm not leaving Cleveland. I want to win a championship in Cleveland' and I know now we have a chance. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/25446920/cavs-anderson-varejao-doesnt-want-to-be-traded-i-love-cleveland

IKEA - Cleveland
I don't get it. Is it supposed to be funny or just a comment on the quality of IKEA? I don't think it achieves either. IKEA is always "assemble it yourself" when you buy items there...nothing to do with quality.

Side note -- I know this is old news but definitely bummed the Ruby Rose NYE celebrations was cancelled in Cleveland. She is internationally followed (especially on social media) LINK: http://www.cleveland.com/kristel/index.ssf/2015/11/ruby_rose_could_make_cleveland.html Interesting the RNC was also cited as part of the blame as well. Cleveland Rocks New Year's Eve party canceled, refunds processing By John Harper, cleveland.com December 15, 2015 at 6:11 PM CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cleveland Rocks New Year's Eve party has been canceled, according to a letter posted today on the CLE NYE website. Event organizer Alonzo Mitchell blamed the cancellation on a lack of resources, saying in the letter, "It all comes down to simple math." "With the coming convention and other special projects vying for funds from a finite pool of resources, we were unable to secure the corporate and other donor support to host a NYE event that would be on par with past productions and up to the level of excellence that Cleveland deserves," Mitchell wrote. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/12/cle_rocks_new_years_eve_party.html

How about Edgewater Park? Alternative Press Music Awards set 2016 date, but probably not in Cleveland By Troy L. Smith, cleveland.com Follow on Twitter on December 28, 2015 at 7:27 AM, updated December 28, 2015 at 10:37 AM CLEVELAND, Ohio – Alternative Press has set a date for the 2016 Alternative Press Music Awards, but is still a bit vague on the location. The Cleveland-based magazine announced via social media its annual award show honoring all things pop-punk, post-hardcore, metal-core alt-rock and beyond will take place July 18 in Ohio. Yet, no specific city has been confirmed. The APMAs have taken place in Cleveland the past two years. In 2014, the show was held at Voinovich Park behind the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2015, it was moved to The Q. However, Alternative Press has had issues booking a venue in Cleveland for 2016. The APMAs are Warped Tour dependent. Alternative Press relied on numerous alt-rock bands to already be in town a day before or after Warped's stop at Blossom Music Center. http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2015/12/alternative_press_music_awards_4.html
