  1. The is cheapest rent for new units I have seen in a while! I'm guessing the money from the affordable units are leveraging the cheaper prices for the market rate units.
  2. Does anyone have an estimate (or better yet list) of the number of units and projects that have been added to Battery Park/Detroit-Shoreway/Gordon Square since the 2010 census? Besides Downtown, most of the new residential construction in the city of Cleveland seems to be in this part of town.
  3. ^ Well here's the website of current bookings: http://www.clevelandconventions.com/event-listing?Month=5&Year=2014 Not sure how it compares.
  4. Repeat Business: The Cleveland-Europe Express is looking reliable as Dutch ship returns on schedule: the Mix By Robert L. Smith, The Plain Dealer The Plain Dealer Email the author | Follow on Twitter on May 22, 2014 at 7:00 AM, updated May 22, 2014 at 10:21 AM CLEVELAND, Ohio--The appearance of the Fortunagracht on the lakefront this week did not spark the commotion and celebration of last month, when the Dutch ship heralded the start of international container shipping on the Great Lakes. Soon after the 12,500-ton vessel docked in Cleveland Harbor on Monday night, longshoremen and seamen went quietly to work unloading cargo, unwatched by cameras or newspaper reporters. But executives of the Cleveland Cuyahoga County Port Authority smiled just as brightly. One trip does not blaze a trail in the shipping industry. But a second voyage can win believers. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/05/the_cleveland-europe_express_i.html
  5. Unfortunately I am a no go.
  6. ^ Man, that old County Admin building needs to be swapped out with the Hilton Hotel sooner than later. The perspective of the main picture reaffirms this...

  8. How the Federal TIGER Program Revived a Cleveland Neighborhood Published on May 15th, 2014 Written by: Angie Schmitt Cleveland doesn’t look like a dying Rust Belt city these days in the Little Italy and University Circle neighborhoods. In fact, it looks like it’s thriving. At the corner of Euclid and Mayfield, a new mixed-use development — MRN’s “Uptown” — is filling out, hosting a bookstore, a bakery, bars, and new apartments. Just across the street, the new home of the Museum of Contemporary Art sits gleaming, in the words of the New York Times, “like a lustrous black gem.” Another major office, retail, and residential project is planned a stone’s throw away. http://usa.streetsblog.org/2014/05/15/how-the-federal-tiger-program-revived-a-cleveland-neighborhood/
  9. So two facts -- they're out for the year and I'm blind.

  11. Plans Back on Track for East Side Happy Dog Posted by Douglas Trattner on Tue, May 6, 2014 at 3:32 PM Following the untimely death of partner Sean Kilbane, Happy Dog partners Eric Williams and Sean Watterson placed on hold their plans to open a second Happy Dog in University Circle, in the historic Euclid Tavern. "Kilbane was the heart and soul of the Happy Dog, a huge advocate for the Cleveland music scene and a great friend," Williams said at the time. "He will be deeply missed and the Happy Dog will do its best to continue his legacy." http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2014/05/06/plans-back-on-track-for-east-side-happy-dog Happy Dog at Euclid Tavern in Cleveland's University Circle set to open late summer, thanks to Sean Kilbane's 'let's just do it' spirit By John Petkovic, The Plain Dealer on May 07, 2014 at 10:19 AM, updated May 07, 2014 at 5:05 PM CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Sean Watterson was torn between this and that, between starting and stopping. Decisions came much harder since the passing of his friend and business partner in the Happy Dog, Sean Kilbane. "I was sitting in an IHOP and imagining Sean there," says Watterson, referring to Kilbane, who died in an accident at the West Side bar in February. "We always went back and forth on everything we'd do together." It usually went like this: Kilbane would bring up an idea, Watterson would ask, "What about this?" Kilbane would respond with another idea. Watterson would counter with one of his own. Little was figured out, but Kilbane would respond with, "Let's just do it." "So I was sitting there and I thought, 'Sean's not here, so I guess I'm going to be me,' " says Watterson. "So, 'Let's just do it.'" http://www.cleveland.com/bars/index.ssf/2014/05/happy_dog_at_euclid_tavern_in.html
  12. I know it would be out the window for condo conversion with using a historic tax credit (some correct me if I'm wrong), but with that lobby and location...925 screams highend condos. I would highly consider buying there if these became "for sale" residential units. (My dream has always been buying a unit atop a new tower of 515 Euclid). But as Hts121 is saying, probably a mixed-use of office and residential is its best future.
  13. ^ Great article. It seems to be getting a lot of reads rather quickly.

  16. Not sure if I've seen this posted yet: http://www.downtowncleveland.com/marketupdate.aspx Am I reading this correctly, the number of "for sale" units has decreased? What went away?
  17. I'm very curious if there's any local outreach from the NEO Ukrainian community with the conflict in eastern Ukraine/Crimea. Is Global Cleveland keeping an eye on the situation if there are any peoples looking to relocate?

  20. Not so fast...it's been proposed :) http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2014/03/cleveland_cuyahoga_county_could_spend_300_million_or_more_to_upgrade_justice_center.html The most expensive option is a complete demolition and rebuild of the Cleveland police headquarters building and the courts tower.
  21. Hey guys, back to my original post on the lease. Is it true the Dolan's don't have to pay rent if a certain attendence isn't acheived?
  22. Can someone tell me if I'm reading this correctly?? http://law.marquette.edu/assets/sports-law/pdf/ls-mlb-cleveland.pdf Article 6.1 – Rent Based on tiered scale of a fee paid per paid attendance tickets, annual rent is an aggregate of the following: (1) $.75 for each Paid Attendance Ticket sold during the applicable season after 1.85 M tickets sold, up to 2.25 M sold (2) $1.00 for each Paid Attendance Ticket sold during such season after 2.25 M tickets sold, up to 2.5 M sol (3) $1.25 for each Paid Attendance Ticket sold during applicable season after 2.5 M tickets are sold So the Indians ownership is financially incentivized to not break 1.85 million in total tickets sales? And no money is due to Gateway if under 1.85 million are tickets sold annually?? Is this common? EDIT: OK, so it was updated then it sounds: http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2008/08/deal_keeps_cleveland_indians_a.html
