"It started out as my thesis project and it became a viable historic district proposal from there," said Fisher, who submitted a preliminary application to the Ohio Historic Preservation Office in January 2012. But the project was shelved until earlier this year after Fisher was offered a full-time job elsewhere. 'Waterloo Brew,' east side Cleveland micro brewery, in works for Slovenian Workmen's Home in Waterloo By Joe Crea, Northeast Ohio Media Group CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Alan Glazen's "Operation Light Switch" in Cleveland's Waterloo district takes another step forward, with the entrepreneur's announced plans to bring a craft brewery to the east side neighborhood. "Our working name is 'The Waterloo Brew,' " says Glazen, the outspoken force behind an ongoing project to reinvigorate the proud section of the Collinwood area. He adds that the name of the building where the new brewing operation will be housed will remain the Slovenian Workmen's Home. Glazen is developing his latest project with restaurateurs Randy Kelly and Linda Syrek, who are also husband and wife. Together they operate XYZ the Tavern, Ontario Street Cafe and two ABC The Tavern locations, all in Cleveland. Pittsburgh seems to think they have it in the bag whenever you search more about the story. Their media is doing a good job covering it.

I am increasingly sick to my stomach the more I think about this demolition for the integrity and urban fabric of the neighborhood. I believe the "plaza" talk was about letting 100 year old, all-brick courtyard survive.

wow...how cool Is University Circle?? :D. With the ABC, Cleveland Beer Cellars, Mi Pueblo, Barking Spider, Jolly Scholar,and now Happy Dog at Euclid Tavern. Who's ready for some bar-hopping? Not to mention L'Albatros and Little Italy...and in the pipeline Corner Alley II, and a rumored Red steakhouse.

Overall, Cleveland ranks as the 16th most walkable large city in the country, with a "walk score" of 57 out of a possible 100, according to a rating of 2,500 U.S. cities on their walkability, biking-friendliness and access to transit. Among Cleveland neighborhoods, downtown rates the highest, with a score of 87, meaning daily errands don't require a car.
