Marous Brothers Construction are rebuilding this building Book-Cadillac.
  2. i believe by doing this he would be able to qualify for hictoric tax credits if he planned to invest more money into the building....i think they did this to some buildings along euclid for that reason.
  3. i would love for that to happen....im with ya....also a lakewoodite
  4. i could care less about the fence. im jus glad theres something being built there for a fence to go around.
  5. "the best thing cleveland has seen" may sound cheesy though it shows just how confident this zaremba guy is. he's got something to live up to now and he seems pretty psyched about it. im thrilled. really everything thats going on has got me pumped. we could possibly be in the midst of witnessing the greatest makeover cleveland has ever seen. Stark's WHD project, Wolstein's Flats east bank project, Stonebridge west bank project...a possible new office tower on public square....tower city rejuvenation...a new convention center?? beginnings of development on scranton peninsula....this is dreamers stuff thats happening right here in cleveland.
  6. well macy's downtown in a classy building has more sex appeal than an empty building.
  7. i think the waterfront line eventually should be moved north of the shoreway to accomadate hopeful development of the burke site and all the way to E.55th. i think this shouldve been done from the start.
  8. i live in lakewood and use the west shoreway to get to work every day. i understand that this will slow down my commute to work every day. i also realize how much valuable land this opens up for development and how much this will help the redevelopment of the detroit-shoreway neighborhood and am all for it. i just hope its done right. also will the detroit-shoreway neighborhood label be changed to the detroit-edgewater neighborhood??? might help marketing i dunno
  9. i think there would hafta some other element.....though this is great news.....c'mon macy's

200,000 in erie is like 400,000 in cleveland. i used to live there and owned some rental property. cost of living is unbelievably low.
  11. well, i dont believe this should be about.....actually this should have nothing to do with the how much money the city can collect. thats not why we have this tax abatement. it was designed to lure people back to the city and its really starting to work, why in gods creation would you want to stonewall this movement now. it should be expanded if anything. its stupid that were even discussing this right now. the homes that were built in the early 90's abatements will start running out soon and now every year you will have a new source of income...every year another bloc of homes will begin paying taxes...the more we build now the better off we will be later for sure with a improved housing stock to boot and more upper and mid income people inhabiting it. and dont forget the tax abatement only includes the structure...not the land its on...so theres some new tax revenue as well as their city income taxes....its a win win
  12. i spent last weekend nights out at east 4th street establishments and had a complete ball. i noticed an older crowd as opposed to the WHD. oh, and if you want to spend valentine's day dinner at lola with your special someone you'd better call now. i got mine today and there were not many slots left.
  13. youre never going to please everyone and something drastic needs to be done. this could revamp the whole city. not just downtown. or just make this for downtown..hmmm. either way you look at it you'll still get about thirty percent of taxes out of new owners as opposed to zero percent of zero new owners. plus count all the new businesses that would come to support these new residents and the taxes they pay. or we could jus stick with the status quo.
  14. regarding the tax abatement issue...here's my take. instead of reducing the tax abatement. how bout this. expand it to 30 years with a...say a five year window. you'll see every proposal thats been scrapped or shelved be developed as well as many other new developments come online. and just watch people from suburbia fight each other trying to reserve a condo/townhome etc. now that would be bold. i truly believe this would be amazing. you'd have people from all over the country taking a good look at this. if you want critical mass and a fast track i belive this is it.
  15. i agree that it is unlikely and jus plain unbelievable. though paired with a rumored espnzone and maybe some other components jus maybe forest city has something up their sleeve. i dont know. as for the source, i dont believe it would be my place to drop names on here. time will tell i guess.
