  1. Like the Muckrakers of a the 19th/20th century, hopefully some of these reporters will parlay their talents into blogs like @KJP's and continue to have an impact on the community.
  2. With manufacturing already in a mild recession, these kinds of stories wont' bode well Boeing indefinitely extends factories’ coronavirus shutdown; here’s what that means for 30,000 workers https://www.seattletimes.com/business/boeing-aerospace/boeing-indefinitely-extends-production-shutdown-at-washington-state-plants-due-to-coronavirus/
  3. Makes complete sense with everyone ordering from home. I understand that UPS/Fedex are hiring temp drivers now in excess of a normal Christmas season.
  4. United has followed Delta! Status extended until 1/31/22! Bravo! That leaves just American Airlines to do the same. Personally I hope they go out of business, and reemerge shedding their US Airways management! https://hub.united.com/united-coronavirus-covid19-safety-update-2645397564.html
  5. Delta has finally done what everyone expected by extending it's Medallion member statuses through 2021. Usually American and United follow suit. Crossing my fingers! Delta extends Medallion Status, Club Memberships and more to support SkyMiles Members’ future travel https://news.delta.com/delta-extends-medallion-status-club-memberships-and-more-support-skymiles-members-future-travel
  6. I'm assuming that building inspections in the city of Cleveland are still continuing? They are normally so far behind that if they are not, they may never recover!
  7. I can tell you from talking to operations people in both NFL and MLB front offices, they have no idea yet. They are all waiting on government direction on this. I imagine we'll see a lot of hand sanitizer stations, and maybe people in masks.
  8. Per @KJP post above, demo is set to begin Monday
  9. I'm sure they'll want to offer you a credit towards a future flight.
  10. Manufacturing had been in recession for most of 19, ending at it's worst level in quite some time. It would be reasonable to assume that COVID19 will have a huge impact on sectors that were already hurting. If there is going to be another stimulus, they should be looking at this data.
  11. This will get figured out.
  12. Or you can take it one step further, buy a multi-family, live in it and rent out the other units. I did this 12 years ago and couldn't be happier. My tenant pays my mortgage for me and I get to write 1/2 all maintenance.
  13. I hope for the best, but fear the worst. I had reached out to the city about the dangerous traffic patterns on West Blvd between Madison and Detroit. There is no reason for that to be 2 lanes either direction, especially when West Blvd goes down to 1 lane each direction south of Madison (with parking and bike lane added). I had suggested reducing this section to one lane each direction with a center turn lane and the response from the city was "we never did that because we would have to scrape the lines off the pavement." Not exactly inspiring. Of course, we're also talking about a stretch of road sits next to a muddy, unpaved vacant lot (former apartment building) that Westtown CDC owns, and is currently being used by The Palazzo restaurant for employee parking on busy nights (prior to the COVID19 shutdown).
  14. Looks like you need to check your tire pressure ?
  15. The city has seen record tax collections (in part thanks to a tax increase the residents gave Mayor Jackson), without increasing services (at least that I can tell). Why couldn't they do both in this case? Small businesses can and should be saved, and Sherwin Williams should go ahead with the project.

For you youngsters, this is how downtown felt on a Saturday or Sunday with no sports in town when I lived there in the early 1990's.
  17. Just out of curiosity, when did you go to college? I was born in Akron and grew up on the east side of Cleveland. I feel like Hudson was more "Akron-centric" until the completion of the SR8 widening initially and upgraded interchange with I271 in the prior decades. When I was a kid, Route 8 was a 2 lane road from 271 down to around Graham Rd in Stow. The additional highway capacity has connected Hudson with Cleveland more than it has been in the past.
  18. Man was everything dirty!
  19. I get the sense that the Lucky's location was fairly successful, so the Saltzman's won't try to fix what isn't broken. Hopefully they will take what was working, and improve on it. I never went in on weekends or evenings, but did they ever get big crowds at that "bar"? During the day it was wasted space....
  20. Food and beverage service nixed for lights UNDER 4.5 hours. There is definitely a component of this new policy for health and wellness--although there is certainly and underlying benefit for shareholders. I can't help but wonder if once everything is back to normal that this will become the new normal for American and other big carriers.
  21. I had to google Cheesecake Factory since if it closed, my wife would be devastated. Apparently the CEO sent a letter to every one of it's 294 landlords that it would not be able to pay April rent. So some *may* close depending on the response, but by no means have they said they are shutting down completely.
  22. Interactive maps with 2020 census response data: https://2020census.gov/en/response-rates.html
  23. I travel the world and see the airports and trains. I can tell you that Denver International is about the only one in this country that competes on the world stage (which makes sense as it was the most recent large airport constructed). Infrastructure was the one thing I had gotten behind Trump for upon his election and thus far not much has changed.
  24. I bought my house in 2008, right before the market crash. Refinanced in '10 to 3.25% (this mortgage was just sold off to another servicer). I need to do the math to see how much lower rates would need to go for it to make sense for me to try again.
  25. Amazing--3 of 5 runways at ATL currently being used for Delta parking. They Paved the Runways to Put Up a Parking Lot https://www.flyertalk.com/articles/they-paved-the-runways-to-put-up-a-parking-lot.html?utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=
