  1. Sounds like a perfect time for Dan Gilbert to swoop in and put an outlet mall in there! ?
  2. I agree with this take. It seems to be a Cleveland thing that the path of least resistance ends up being the route 99% of the time. IMO they are missing an opportunity by not at least talking to Dan Gilbert about this project.
  3. Where are our Federal reps on this? Has the new CEO even met Marcia Fudge or Marcy Kaptur yet?
  4. UGLY, but a W
  5. Put the outlet mall in Tower City, or perhaps as part of casino Phase II on the riverfront! Casinos and outlet shoppers go hand-in-hand! https://www.foxwoods.com/tanger/ https://mohegansun.com/poi/venues/the-shops-at-mohegan-sun.html https://viejas.com/san-diegos-premier-outlets-mall/ https://www.outletsatwindcreekbethlehem.com
  6. No mention on Cleveland.com, despite United's history here and lots of legacy fliers. United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz is stepping down https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/05/business/united-airlines-ceo-change/index.html
  7. I wasn't asking for anything--I was responding to someone asking for 90 stories ? It was so far up the thread I don't remember who.... But to your point, Comcast built the 57 story Comcast Center, then followed up with the 60 story Technology Center, both the tallest buildings in Philadelphia and therefore, somewhat Iconic. My point was that just because a company is public doesn't mean they would automatically rule out a tall tower based on cost.
  8. This feels like one of those decisions made by a Harvard MBA based on some spreadsheet data which will backfire on United when customers revolt and continue to seek wide body aircraft (as I will).
  9. Except that giant banner on the back blank wall facing the RMFH.
  10. Of course it's a publicly traded company so budget is the ultimate deciding factor. But this doesn't mean they don't consider building an iconic tower. It happens all the time....Comcast Center in Philly, Bank of America in Charlotte, hell even the P&G buildings in downtown Cincinnati have their own iconic spin on the skyline ?
  11. I respectively disagree. It is the realm of possibility that any company with deep Cleveland roots, would be interested in making a forever-impact on the skyline. Why wouldn't they consider the tallest building as a possible design?
  12. Sure would great if part of their customer communication RTA would include "the Why".
  13. Opportunity Corridor? Perhaps incorporated with a new Police HQ campus?

I just went to see the movie last night--I was delighted to learn that all that music was recorded live as the action progressed. I suppose for this to happen today, the star of the show would have to be a passionate musician, just like Fred Rogers.
  15. Some of my earliest downtown memories are from Christmas expeditions. I don't remember specifics from the stores, but I have very vivid memories of steam pouring out of manhole covers, painted markings, jackhammers and Salvation Army bells. These marks don't bother me at all. It's part of an American urban existence, where crumbling infrastructure is constantly under repair.
  16. (Clutching my pearls) IS THAT A...BUS....in the lower left corner? On Public Square? ?

Either way, the airline and highway lobbies will be buying their favorite members of the US Congress to make sure trains or tubes get no public money.
  18. It certainly can't be "Crocker Park East," which is what they Mayor and his donors want it to be.
  19. I don't think the legal lobby would let them move away from downtown. Too many law offices etc surrounding the Justice Center. Maybe they'll do a swap with Sherwin Williams and build a river front campus next to the Fed Court tower?
  20. I didn't mind the Cleveland ASG artwork. Better then most in recent years....
  21. Feeder and power distribution boxes to power lighting for film shoot.
  22. Exactly. And outlet malls and casinos go hand-in-hand. They share the same patrons. Most major casinos in the USA include some sort of shopping experience. This thing should be built close to Tower City and the Jack.
  23. With United and having to connect through ORD or EWR all the time, I'm very close to moving to American. But then I remember that American is really US Airways in disguise, and the worst of the big 4 American carriers. So I suck it up and stay United *alliance.
  24. I've actually tried to find data on this very subject. I'm willing to bet the city has WAY more employees than they ever had when our population peaked in 1950. But that is the subject of another thread.
