Maybe CMSD will snatch it up to build another school....?

New York City: Transit News
Why New York City Stopped Building Subways Nearly 80 years ago, a construction standstill derailed the subway’s progress, leading to its present crisis. This is the story, decade by decade. https://getpocket.com/explore/item/why-new-york-city-stopped-building-subways?utm_source=pocket-newtab

Ohio Congressional Redistricting / Gerrymandering
What's reckless is drawing a district from Lorain to Indiana to Columbus, covering hundreds of miles and taking away representation from the people, all to elect a guy like Jim Jordan. Maps are easy. Trump-Russian lapdogs are problematic.

Ohio: GM, Ford, and Chrysler News & Info
If the UAW is like many other unions, there is not much "brotherhood" between locals. The Parma jobs would be offered to locals with UAW connections before any Lordstown people were brought in.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Lumen
I've stayed there many times at that Ritz Carlton and would agree--unless you want to hang out in the hotel or mall, walking is a dangerous exercise in 9 lane rare crosswalks!

Other States: Passenger Rail News
The inter-state service in NC is pretty solid, from what I've heard. I have friends that live in Raleigh that take the train to Charlotte all the time for Panthers games, etc.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Yeah well Cleveland Hopkins is run by political cronies, who escort the COO of the City (former water meter reader) through security, in violation of FAA rules. https://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2019/04/04/former-hopkins-airport-honcho-fred-szabo-had-a-history-of-security-violations-according-to-the-tsa

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
What city doesn't have it's courts in the center of town? The problem with replacing it will be keeping it close to attorney's offices, as well as convenient to public transit. Unfortunately many users of the court system (whether they like it or not), do not have cars.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
Call me crazy, but this project seems to be a perfect fit for a possible public/private deal to replace the Justice Center much like the County HQ deal. Build the Justice Center on Superior, and supporting office, residential and retail buildings on the lots on the St Clair side.....

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Stop with your Euro-socialist nonsense! Older Ohioans want to drive on their FREE roads to strip malls!

Ridesourcing
This makes sense--and is one of the reasons I still use old-fashioned taxis from airports. So much easier to walk out to the taxi stand and hop in a cab. I'm sure the taxi drivers will fight this.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I hope he's successful, but I file this under self checkouts and bagging my own groceries--when I go out to eat, I don't want to cook it for myself. ?

Mayor Jackson woke up for THIS?

ODOT Policy Discussion
Honest question: Where does the state collect the tax? Is it at the wholesale, or local retail level?

Ohio Transit Funding
Glad to see some level of compromise happening on the state level. Does anyone know where this will put Ohio nationally in terms of public transit funding?

Cleveland: Downtown: The Centennial (925 Euclid Redevelopment)
And more importantly, is this the last building of any significant size downtown to be slated for conversion?

Akron: Historic Photos
Early 70's baby here and I do remember my grandmother taking me on the bus downtown from her Ellet/Goodyear Heights neighborhood to Polskis and Wolworth's (I can still taste that grilled cheese).

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
LOL I had a similar experience. I was especially interested in the large rail yard that used to be at 110th between Baltic and Detroit! @KJP never told me about this.... ?

Lyft is public--this could have also been posted in the Income Inequality thread.... Opinion: Scott Galloway: Lyft’s stock 1 year after IPO will be much, much lower https://www.marketwatch.com/story/scott-galloway-lyfts-stock-one-1-year-after-ipo-will-be-much-much-lower-2019-03-29

Cleveland: 311 Call Center
Was looking for the Cleveland 311 site info today and this thread also showed up in a Google search. Since it hadn't been used recently, I thought I'd bump it up to the top with this story that I also read. What stands out to me is the arrogance of the Jackson Administration when it comes to media availability! How Cleveland's well-intended 311 system for abandoned homes leaves neighborhoods at risk https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/cleveland-metro/how-clevelands-well-intended-311-system-for-abandoned-homes-leaves-neighborhoods-at-risk

Personal Finance / Investing Thread
I have a 6' utility trailer that I bought off a guy for $275 in great shape. It's one of those little cheapos like they sell in the front of Lowe's for lawn mowers, but does the trick in a pinch if I need to haul some lumber.

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
From the county website, it says no--just a slab. https://myplace.cuyahogacounty.us/MainPage/PropertyData My guess is there was something there, and when the cut out for the rail underpasses was done, they had to put in that retaining wall.
