Cleveland: Homeless News & Discussion
I just noticed the encampment is growing on the old Browns pedestrian bridge to the stadium. Doesn't seem to be a very hospitable place to camp out, but I guess when you're left with few options...

Cleveland Browns Discussion
If ever there were a year, our AFC North division seems particularly weak going into this season. It could easily be one of those years where the winner of the AFC north barely eeks out a .500 record.

Lakewood: Downtown: CASTO Development
Is the proposed residential rental units, or condos for purchase?

Cleveland Neighborhoods
Growing up I remember hearing about CPP on the news surrounding Dennis! As I grew older, I always thought CPP was just an aggregator--selling power to hundreds of thousands of customers without actually performing transmission duties. It was only recently that I realized that CPP has their own grid--after a thunderstorm there were neighbors on First Energy who had power, while those up the street on CPP were without. It all seems very stupid--in an aging city filled with infrastructure to maintain, I can't believe it makes sense to maintain two grids. And I'm probably right....

Cleveland Neighborhoods
Jesus could you be any more of a drama queen? God forbid they look out for their infrastructure investment Spoken like a true hypocritical suburbanite who think 10 lanes of highways and interchanges fall from the sky with no cost, but maintaining a transit system is a leech on the taxpayers wallet. Remember when the City of Cleveland division of water wanted to raise fees to maintain their infrastructure investment in Westlake and the mayor took them to court?

The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion
I read the same rumor on the message board. Said she called 911 dozens of times saying he was beating her/chasing her, and he was on campus at the time. At the end, 911 stopped sending a car. Powell police apparently testified on Zach's behalf at the divorce hearing. The woman allegedly freaked out when Zach was going to lose his job because that meant her child support (means of living) was going to drop way down as she doesn't work. All this is total rumor mill of course but if it's true at all, it would explain why none of the other coaches' wives did anything when she was texting them all... Shouldn't we be able to figure out if the police did, in fact, testify on Zach's behalf in the divorce hearing? Wouldn't that be public record? I would think that would be pretty telling if it can be confirmed. I'm no attorney but I have been divorced. I would guess that family court proceedings are not public record. In fact, my time in Cuyahoga County family court, I was not even allowed in the courtroom--the attorneys went in before the magistrate while we waited outside. I found the process very un-American.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I received a link from Clevelanders for Public Transit to write all the board members of RTA, etc. https://actionnetwork.org/letters/transit-levy-now?delivery_id=30185268 As an aside, how do we end up with Dennis Clough from Westlake as the President of the Board of our transit agency?

The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion
Sadly, OSU fb fans probably don't care. They want their 12+ wins and a victory of Michigan. The rest be damned. Heck, look at what the fans/cult at Penn State were defending with Paterno/Sandusky. Jim Jordan is setting the example.

Cleveland: Parking Meters
Lots of patronage jobs tied to those meters. Collecting change, servicing them, etc.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Has anyone else noticed United only appears to be using one bag claim currently? It's the most frustrating thing--I arrived yesterday from ORD and there were 5 other flights coming in on the same luggage belt. Not unusual in busy airports, but in this case there were 5 unused belts in either direction from the one they were using! I wonder if Hopkins charges them for each one they use?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I agree. And it should go in Tower City. Outlet malls are often based in or around casinos. It makes sense in our already existing downtown mall.

This is interesting. Let's see if UA adds staff numbers to the CLE domicile to support these flights. They have been letting the domicile attrite since 2014 prefatory to closing it. I'm a United flight attendant based in ORD. CLE is significantly understaffed and rumor has it when we merge internally (Continental and United) on October 1st they plan on opening up most of our bases for transfers, I'm banking on that rumor. Can you translate for us UrbanOhio non insiders?

Cleveland: Demolition Watch
Yet the City of Cleveland makes it as difficult as anywhere for live music with admissions taxes and withholding on non-resident artists.

Pretty remarkable that the fonts haven't changed on the parking signs... :)

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Call me a pessimist (aka a "realist" in the city of Cleveland) I'd give the train traffic arms about 2 weeks before an RTA driver took one out. Then it would take the city of Cleveland a week to show up and duct-tape it back together, and at least a year to actually replace it.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
It doesn't matter. There are all sorts of state capitals all over the country that aren't thriving. Lansing. Madison. Lincoln. Jefferson City. Tallahassee. Trenton. Have you been to these towns? Plenty of them are thriving. Madison and Lincoln in particular. As for some of the others, they just wouldn't exist if it wasn't for government jobs.

Airline Industry News and Discussion
Sorry. You can tell I'm from Cleveland from my defeatist tone and grammar. Yes we were once the 5th largest city in the country also. To this day we are the 51st. (sigh....) :'( :'(
