  1. Most of these city programs are woefully underfunded. I've looked into them for family and neighbors before. Sure we'll give you $1500 towards a new roof if you make less than $10,000 a year. What good is $1500 for a new roof if you can't afford the other $8500 it takes to get the job done?
  2. LOVE Shake Shack! Way better than 5 Guys!

SMH....down 0-2. Hopefully the rest of the Cavs join Lebron on the flight home and show up for game 3.
  4. I know this was not the point of your reply, but I'm curious where you got this time savings. I was just being mildly snarky trying to fathom how a better route affects donors and organs. I did zero research on the time savings of using this new corridor vs Chester, etc.
  5. I'm trying to process this comment. Is there some research showing the organ donors are flying commercial into Cleveland, renting cars and driving to the Clinic to be cut open and donate their livers? And will saving 12 minutes in the rental car help this process? ;D FYI many donor organs and patients are flown in to the Clinic via Burke via their Cessna Citations.
  6. I'm surprised St Louis was in the top 5?? Had no idea!

AmrapinVA[/member] I'm in agreement with most of what you said, but don't FAA regs, in general terms, come into play with anything over 400'? Yes. FAA will also take a special look because Cleveland's CBD is near the Hopkins 24L/R approaches. Will they have an issue? No, unless it's super tall. Cleveland's CBD already has some pretty tall existing structures. The floor of Cleveland's Class B airspace over downtown is 2,200 feet MSL, which is approximately 1500 feet AGL. Should any mega tower be built, ATC would continue to route the inbound traffic the same way, which is typically just to the north of the shoreline.
  8. It's a great building I lived in it for a few years soon after it opened. I hope they eventually restore the ballroom to it's former grandeur.

The Towpath does a pretty good job with interesting historical markers. I think a Manhattan Project site is definitely sign-worthy in that context, if not a little bit scary. Definitely. I tried watching the video above, but it was painful to listen to the guy. I would read about this though.
  10. Say what???? ;D I agree 1000%.

This has been a pretty incredible display....I'm still in shock that the Cavs pulled it off!
  12. I will have to donate some money to the ACLU. Does anyone know if they sell your personal info to 3rd party marketing affiliates? I would fear the worst from them...
  13. I saw this story being passed around a few days ago and it made me chuckle, then it made me cry. All these countries that we bombed, rebuilt and still pay to defend have it so much better when it comes to rail transportation. 14. They should combine them. The Nimby's will still complain no matter what though...
  15. It probably got dirty over the years with pedestrians leaning on it, so the just changed it to black to hide it....
  16. I've noticed an overall huge upswing in pedestrian traffic on the corner. Someone is going to get hurt the way the cars fly through there.

As long as we don't see him take off his jersey and walk into the locker room without saying a word....
  18. Does Lucky's offer sushi in their prepared foods section? If not a sushi place would be a great fit there. Yes, they do, and it's actually pretty good sushi too. That may have killed the sushi shop owner's biz plan. Something else fast-quasi healthy would be great like a Pita Pit.

Actually you can see plenty of that in Cincinnati, when a tugboat and barge manages to kick up a little swell. Columbus, not so much.

The series starts again tomorrow in Boston...hopefully with Lebron deeply entrenched in the young Celtics heads. I don't think they are as bad off as Toronto, but the Cavs definitely have the momentum. A game 5 win in Boston would be huge for them.

Great shots. You don't see this in Cincinnati or Columbus. Via the North Coast!
  23. I'm pretty sure it was operating well into the late 80's, if not early 90's. My sister used to trek over there from the east side for one of those horrible underage teen dance nights.

I saw photos from up around the Lake Erie islands of marinas getting flooded from the water surging due to the winds.
  25. Or Edgewater, which most of Cleveland still thinks is Lakewood ;)
