More dollars into a bridge that has outlived it's design!

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
I have no data to back it up, but the 90's boom was bigger than today's? I never recall anything remotely close happening back then as to what is happening now in Detroit Shoreway, Ohio City and U circle?

Ohio & National Intercity Bus Discussion
All Aboard Ohio should use that--if it had been a train, this would have never happened!

The problem is Cleveland really doesn't have massive traffic issues.

Name your top 5 cities...
Yeah a few miles up the road in Laguna you see Lamorghini's and Maclarens on the street next to you. In San Clemente you see old hippies in VWs and young hippies in Honda Insights. It has a really nice walkable center spine that runs perpendicular to the beach, a great beach with a pier, and it's linked to the rest of Orange County and Los Angeles via a train that's right on the beach. Despite the stereotype of Southern California, San Clemente would be a relatively easy place to live car free. Love San Clemente! There is a Mexican restaurant there on the PCH that I guess Nixon used to frequent. I can't remember the name but have been several times. Great stuff! It's either El Adobe or Olamendi's. I haven't been to El Adobe, but Olamendi's is pretty good, and has some really crazy stuff on the walls. Olamendis is the one I think. The crazy stuff goes up on the ceilings as well.

I'm on it at least 2x a year. Glad I am not this month though--French rail workers strike causing lots of cancellations!

Airline Industry News and Discussion
Two pretty big airline stories this week. First the Allegiant Air expose on shoddy maintenance and in-air equipment failures. And today, Southwest Airlines had it's very first fatality in the history of the company when an engine exploded at cruise altitude. This is also the first passenger death onboard a US commercial carrier since 2009. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/southwest-airlines-flight-emergency-landing-today-2018-04-17-live-stream-updates/

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
I agree--just buy one. The good old fashioned manual kinds work--but if you need a powered compressor, you can get a little 12V powered one at Home Depot or Harbor Freight for <$20. Good to have around anyway.

East Cleveland: News & Discussion
So you never made it to "East Cleveland" proper, which is a separate incorporated municipality from Cleveland. It is east of University Circle.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
True, but I'd rather still have a parking lot than something forced in there, not worthy of the location.
-
Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
It happens more than you think--but there are events that bring out mass quantities. Last year during the RNC they had to shut down runway 24L/6R because they were using the entire Taxiway G for parking.

2018 Gubernatorial Election
Kuchinich doesn't really care about the people of Ohio. Hasn't he been living on the west coast? And when he was a Congressman here, he spent the majority of his time campaigning for President and not focusing on constituents. The only time he would was when there was a good photo opportunity. As an aside, I was told by a friend that Steven Latourette actually "out-porked" Kuchinich with the Obama stimulus funds. Not sure if true, but I can believe it if Dennis! was more worried about building his national campaign aspirations....

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
AAO is an educational organization and not allowed to endorse candidates. We can ask candidates questions and post their answers for members and friends to decide for themselves who they like. And we can only spend about 17 percent of our annual budget on lobbying for the passage of specific legislation. If you take off your AAO hat and are just KJP[/member] who should I vote for?

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
Speaking of which, with primaries coming up, who is the All Aboard Ohio endorsed candidate?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Erieside has been paved. Pretty amazing since the City of Cleveland "had no plan yet" as of a month ago. It's not the greatest job, but what do you expect from the lowest bidder, and it's still better than if paved by a city crew.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
If you ever get a chance to talk to Bob Roche, the leader of the anti-Wahoo movement, he is a genuinely sweet and well-spoken man.

Cleveland: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame News & Discussion
Probably accurate, plus depending on the deal with the city (which I can't imagine how incredibly difficult they are to deal with), they may also get a chance to keep some of the food & beverage concessions, which they wouldn't get at the stadium. That's where the real money is!
