Cleveland Guardians Discussion
31k tonight. It's picking up. This weekend is sure to sell out in bigly-big-league fashion!

That looks like from 116th and Clifton, looking NW.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
I've been thinking about this--if Bezos wants to move somewhere with a transit system, but also hire from a local talent pool, many places on the "list" fall short in terms of both transit, and people WILLING to use it. Even much larger metros like Dallas and Philly fit into this category.

I like these odds. Personally I'm rooting for Detroit.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
I'm surprised it's that small. the obvious question is....do those numbers take the new Iceland routes...or stick with their frequent flyer airline. Heres to hoping that the new airlines also stimulate demand...if we can see those climb to 300 per day, that would be significant. I'm one of the 250-300 who would (while somewhat grudgingly) stick with United for a lie-flat bed and FF miles courtesy of my employer paying the fare. It's worth the extra hour flight and layover at EWR or better yet, IAD. I will be doing the opposite, unless I have enough miles for a free flight To each his own. As a veteran overseas traveler, I prefer the layover here followed by a direct to destination in a more comfortable aircraft, than a direct to Reykjavik, a layover then another flight to my final in Europe. But I suppose if the price was right for a leisure traveler, this flight would be the way to go.

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2017
I said before the election, he's beatable if he gets less than 40%. He got 38.7%. Reed and Johnson combined for 37.3%. It will be tough but it's doable. I don't Jackson will have an issue for the general election. Given these choices and a higher turnout, I think most will take the safe (if not anemic) bet for (In)Action Jackson.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
It was the home opener for the Browns, against a team from 115 miles away. I'd bet 1/3 of the stadium were Steeler fans. If the Browns keep winning, the fans will keep coming. Otherwise, it will tail off quickly as the weather turns for the worst. I've never seen the Browns beg for fans for a Thursday Night home game, as rare as they are for Cleveland. Even so when the Browns were in the middle of a horrific season. I think the Indians deserve better. You may be right--but then again, if you look at the entire league most of the teams above us are from larger markets, and quite a few of them have less pro-sports options in the market. https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/MLB/2017-misc.shtml Tribe fans will come through when it counts--I just hope there aren't mass sales to out-of-town fans again.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
The Cleveland.com article on Cleveland's suitability for Amazon mentioned Frank Jackson has not commented or released any official determination on chasing this project. I actually found a link to Frank Jackson's plan right here: http://www.this-page-intentionally-left-blank.org In absence of an aggressive, go-getting mayor, has anyone seen any plans or even statements out of CLE +, NOACA, etc?

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
Didn't take that long (yeah, like a city official is going to come around and talk to individual businesses about the road closing).... Euclid Avenue small business owners fume over road closing, lack of communication http://www.cleveland19.com/story/36295351/businesses-owners-on-euclid-say-theyre-concerned-over-road-closing-lack-of-communication So dysfunctional. It's not like there was months and months of planning meetings, permitting, etc. How could the neighborhood not be informed? Of course, I sometimes forget that people engaged in forums like UO are not living under a rock like 3/4 of the population....

Congratulations to Willoughby South and Toledo alum Kareem Hunt. After fumbling his first carry, he put up 248 yards from scrimmage--a NFL debut record. http://www.espn.com/blog/kansas-city-chiefs/post/_/id/22237/chiefs-rookie-kareem-hunt-announces-himself-with-big-nfl-debut

^^I'm guessing the Piston's will be tough this year in their honeymoon with the arena. Cavs will have some tough games there.

Looking at the Seattle campus it's not exactly in one place--it is spread out just a bit. With this in mind I more inclined to favor the Avenue District as well. Plenty of land to develop, a private partner willing to put more housing in the surrounding area, and an extension of the WFL would give it transit access. http://www.realestateways.com/amazon-campus/

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
Ah ok understood. I'd rather see them with towers in the WHD surface parking lots and use Burke as another selling point for them. I'm sure with all the dotcom money coming and going from offices, they would love a private airport minutes from their campus as well. Let's call it Cleveland's Boeing Field... :)

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
I don't know about Burke when there are acres of land in the city of Cleveland that need development. It seems wide open to submit--maybe us CLE UOers can come up with a RFP to send them? It's probably more than Frank Jackson will do....

Cleveland: Rocket Arena (Gund Arena)
Strong leadership? I think it was more the GCC getting nervous that they were going to cause the Cavaliers to move. That was caused by Gilbert calling their bluff on the deal, while Jackson stood there and shrugged his shoulders (per his norm).
