  1. Has anyone else noticed the bulk-carriers anchored off the breakwall the past couple days? Yesterday there was two, maybe 3 out there. This morning there was still one riding at anchor, low in the water. It must just be a spring rush, but I don't recall ever seeing that before.
  2. I guarantee you that 90% of the negative commenters moved out to Mayfield, South Euclid and Lyndhurst decades ago. They still own property there, but don't maintain it--and worry a brand new building is going to attract the wrong type of clientele (facepalm).
  3. You should! Make some money while you can--because we'll all probably be on our own for health care by 2020.
  4. That would be wonderful. I'd love to see some competition for United on their LAX route.
  5. The Osweiler/Kessler competition should help. Last year he was a rookie coming in behind RG3 and knew he would get time as soon as RG3 stubbed his toe. This year may be different.
  6. ^^Good point re: slavery. Racial issues continue to weaken this country and make us all poorer.
  7. But Cleveland and Buffalo have similar paths that cities like Burlington, Hamilton and Oshawa have been on. I think it's a macro problem. Canada is still closer to its European roots, and is prospering as a socialist-lite democracy. Here in the USA, Wall Street decides who lives and dies, and will sell out the backbone of a city to move to another area for cheaper wages and the resulting 5% stock increase.
  8. And you can bet if one of them ran into your car and hurt themselves, they have no insurance and would come after you. I would spend every last dollar of my savings defending myself and trying to sue their parents.
  9. Of course after Myles sits out of camp, eats pizza and donuts and shows up looking like a retired pro wrestler.

Did anyone ever figure this out? How do I stop following a thread?
  11. But some kitchens and baths in them and rent them out as apartments. They are flying off the shelves in downtown Cleveland!
  12. Just a visual note, in driving by on the Shoreway I've seen a LOT more private turbine and even small GA piston aircraft parked on the new Signature ramp. I wonder with the new building if Signature isn't upping their aircraft services out of this location.
  13. "Infrastructure like this is the difference between being Cleveland and being Toledo." What is that supposed to mean? Toledo has concert and event venues. So Toledo and Cleveland were the same place until Gund Arena opened? I hope I don't sound too offended but Clevelanders should know using another city with a negative connotation is problematic and I can't not mention it. If I said "Infrastructure like this is the difference between being Columbus and being Cleveland" wouldn't you be a little annoyed? I read it as having a major venue that can host major league teams, with no offense intended. Toledo's arena is nice, and relatively new, but could never host a top-tier NBA or NHL franchise.
  14. I wonder if the sherrifs can cite them, especially on state routes. They helped chase the 152nd bank robbers today. Highway Patrol should be able to as well. I have personally witnessed them pursue into a neighborhood.
  15. I agree! With this in mind I would push for A. 22nd and Payne (old 3rd district HQ complex). Great reuse of that historic building with a new tower next to it. Not great for transit though. B. 14th and Broadway in the area of the Main Post Office. It takes the jail out the middle of the city (there is the women's facility in the neighborhood already), and may spur development around it in a desolate area. Plus, the Red Line could get a 14th st stop for transit access as pointed out in KJPs TOD dream segment on another thread.
  16. Moving the JC to Public Square would be an error felt for generations. Build it on the parking lots west of the Jacobs lot, but not on it.
  17. The answer lies in John "I balanced the budget by taking all money away from cities" Kasich. I'd really like to see how much of our tax dollars come back to us as a region when compared to other small counties.
  18. Agreed. But as Hts mentions, the police take the no-chase policy to the extreme and allow it to preclude them from going after the bikes at all.
  19. This leads back up to the "no chase" definition that Hts mentions above. They don't need a high speed chase to get these kids. They need a helicopter, a bunch of patrol cars and a road block. But CPD has been directed by their union to sit on their hands and act like they can't do anything because they got slapped by the Mayor and Dept of Justice. Classic union tactic.
  20. OK what if one of them was doing a wheelie on the Shoreway, fell off his quad, got run over and the quad went in front of a schoolbus, causing it to roll over and injuring or killing innocent children. Do we still let them break the law? Where do we draw the line?
  21. Nothing outruns a radio. And how about some real police work. These kids have to be storing them somewhere. Show up to their club house and make a mass arrest. The bikes aren't licensed and they are operating them illegally. I have been next to them several times and wondered if one of them falls while doing a wheelie at 60 mph down the Shoreway and I run them over, am I gonna get sued? If I do, I'm suing the city at the same time.

IMO if you want to do TOD in Cleveland, you have to start from the inside out. We're already started from downtown (we have, with the Flats East Bank and other downtown residential growth). The next TOD focus should be W25th (easy, IMO--it's one of the hottest neighborhoods in the city). Going east there should be a focus on the CCC campus, or possibly with that development at E 14th/Broadway that KJP posted above. If you can get young people moving into these developments, they will soon realize the added value of transit. Once established, our "leaders" could push new initiatives further out.
  23. When you realize that your uphill trip to and from school made you tougher than the rest of the whippersnappers around you....

I'm not following this. The stop is directly above W117.
