  1. Rumor has it Trevor Bauer brought one of those motorized Sean Spicer lecterns for his post-game interviews. :-D
  2. If anything this shows just how much O/D business is in Cleveland....
  3. Running buses through the square while closing it for special events is the full compromise. I see nothing wrong with this.
  4. Are they hedging fuel? Hopefully they have some cash to buy now.
  5. Oh I love this.....sadly I don't think Frank Jackson would get the joke.
  6. More of the same from the City of Cleveland tonight on the square: This is getting more and more painful to watch. It's like presenting an equation A+2=4 and the Darnell Brown saying, "well, we haven't seen 'A' yet so I cannot comment." What a bunch of clowns.
  7. I'd also ask about the end of Ontario Ave on the southern side of the square, which would allow a semi truck to get airborne right into the rink, Rebol and anywhere in between and their has been no discussion of this. Mayor Jackson is blowing smoke up all of our collective a$$es.

When I was learning to fly, I would literally go throughout my day reading license plates, typing spreadsheets, whatever...by spelling them out with the FAA phonetic alphabet. It comes in handy everywhere today--especially on customer-service calls! :-P https://www.faa.gov/education/educators/activities/elementary/media/Aircraft-Identification.pdf
  9. Doctors are often very smart about their medical studies, books etc, but lack an ounce of common or business sense....

I still think they need to make the current employees actually do their jobs. I have a couple friends that work for the city and they say the laziness and corruption is beyond comparison. Almost half of the new ee's are going to the police, fire and EMS dept. Are you saying that we do not need more of these positions? I fully support hiring more public safety. My questions are in streets, recreation, etc where the employees work about 3 hours a day on average.

  12. What? You're mad because they only have 2 seatings at Sandy's restaurant? If that's what the guy wants to build, so what? Two seatings?? I never know what you're talking about. And I'm as stumped why 600 closed feet of Superior Ave = the end of the world to so many on this board. We each have our likes, dislikes, priorities... That 600 feet could cost the city or RTA $12 million dollars (not including the added expense for RTAs day to day operations), and has already cost one person their life. Hardly a comparison to a debate on restaurant seatings....
  13. And no factory rust-proofing back then. If you wanted rust-proofing, you had to go to Earl Scheib or Maaco. I remember Ziebart, which I am surprised to find still exists: http://www.ziebart.com I guess they adapted and changed their business model somewhat!
  14. I fear the worst for our hotel guests. I've stayed at hotels in other markets like this where overnight there will literally be only one person working the front desk at a 600 room hotel. It comes down to a person making $10/hour on the graveyard shift to deal with emergencies, etc.
  15. Some fine rides behind you there as well! Man those 70's cars barely made it into the 80's with our salty roads!
  16. Just imagine how many more Cubs fans could have fit up there in right field....
  17. ^^This is where a center city shopping district like the old world makes sense. It will never go away completely.

If anything, I think this will make the problem of riding dirt bikes, etc even more of a problem. I remember hearing about this when it was first proposed thinking it was the biggest joke, but it really not happening. Here we are today and it's actually approved. I don't post here a lot any more because there's just nothing exciting happening development wise. Cleveland has become the biggest joke when it comes to urban development. Detroit is booming, and Cleveland is faltering. It's not about the lack of the new big proposals starting (that's not just a Cleveland thing), but how little activity is happening around the city, and most of the city is decaying to the point where it will not come back. It's really sad. I think there was a lot of hope last year just because there seemed to be momentum. But that momentum has come to a complete standstill, and Cleveland's government does absolutely nothing to improve the city or its quality of life. But oh wait, there's a dirt bike park coming! That's progress. Meanwhile, Cleveland remains America's poorest city, absolutely no job growth, and RTA is about to shut down completely in 5-10 years with the way things are going. I hate to be negative because I am a huge fan of the city, but Cleveland really had a chance to go somewhere just a few years ago, and now it seems like one of, if not the only, major city in the country not making an impressive comeback. Most of this falls completely on the leadership of Cleveland. I couldn't disagree more. We are actually in a great position at the moment and our real estate market is booming. (At least on the west side). We have droves of people looking to OWN in the city for the first time in a long time. Not just tremont. We are looking at vast areas of investment on the west side and pockets of the east side. Sorry the big glitzy projects have kind of dwindled at the moment but how many times on this very board have we preached about small incremental projects filling in the gaps as the way to truly improve the situation in cleveland. Detroit is where we were about 10 years ago. At the start of a big loft apt boom to fill up the empty buildings. Outside of downtown it's a mess. My company manages properties up there, and I've never seen such blight before. Don't eat me wrong, I love the city, but we are wayyyyyyu better off. I don't get the Cleveland.com negativity on this board I actually think you are both right to a degree. I just sent a comment to the Mayor's Action Center pointing out the absurdity of this all, and inviting the Mayor and his staff to check out this topic on Urban Ohio. I urge everyone here to do the same: http://www.city.cleveland.oh.us/CityofCleveland/Home/contact/MayorsActionCenter
  19. It doesn't help that driving has become a right rather than a privilege in this country. My friend just married a German girl who was amazed when she got a drivers license here that it was only like $25 and effortless. Her first license in Germany cost her $1500 with the training etc.
  20. So very sorry for this officer's family. http://fox8.com/2017/01/24/live-video-cleveland-officer-injured-in-hit-skip-on-interstate-90-west/
  21. Will the kids on the way to the dirtbike track have to go around the square, or just cut through?
  22. Well we're about to get a dirtbike track. Sure to attract hordes of tourists flocking to hotels. So there's that.

I can't even believe this is happening. The city is broke, needs to ask for a tax increase and can't even maintain the properties they already have. This city deserves to continue to lose residents. A divided Cleveland City Council approves $2.3 million dirt bike track proposal http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2017/01/a_divided_cleveland_city_counc.html
  24. Didn't Rex bench him at the end of the season? Before getting fired?
  25. I agree with both assertions. Cleveland should be promoting this heritage. But the lakefront is not the place to do it. That small "plaza" at E9th/Prospect/Huron would be perfect, including historical background on the AT&T building and it's inspiration as the Daily Planet.
