  1. A quick glance of the map for me indicates the money is in energy (oil exploration, pipelines etc) and government centres (jobs).
  2. Correct. See above re: Anaheim.
  3. Indy is super nice. Even Buffalo has a nicer terminal than CLE. We keep putting pig on the lipstick. Time to catch up with the rest of the world....
  4. Meh...San Diego is questionable as a "big league" city anyway. Without the US Navy payroll, it would just be another Anaheim, etc....
  5. So at least RTA was telling the truth---there was a power outage affecting service, they just left out what caused it....
  6. I was in about 50 airports last year---including some that were under construction (in fact, in multi-terminal airports there ALWAYS seems to be some kind of instruction). I can tell you I've never seen hand-drawn signs before, complete in multi-colors like an elementary school carnival. Most other airports would have ran to the local Fedex Office or SignPro and spent $50 to have printed signs made. Hopkins is run by amateur non-aviation people. And these signs help prove it.
  7. Going back to this---Scene Magazine has now picked up on what I was complaining about: http://photos.clevescene.com/16-photos-that-explain-the-hopkins-airport-experience/#1 http://photos.clevescene.com/16-photos-that-explain-the-hopkins-airport-experience/#14

Nikki Sixx is extremely intelligent (and least-technically proficient at his instrument of the group). He masterminded the "final tour" after setting himself up with an extensive network for his syndicated radio show. He also has book deals and is working on funding for producing "The Dirt" as a feature length movie. The rest of the guys...you're probably right.
  9. I've stopped using the station to go to the airport. Too many kids asking "whats in the bag?" I figured it wouldn't be much longer until my laptop got jacked.... Wise move because one day one of those 'hood rats is going to take your bag. Who needs the harassment? I've been harassed on the Red Line for no reason other than that I'm white. I wouldn't go that far...but I do fly alot and I noticed the same cast of characters eyeing me up. Without my computer and gear I have no issues taking the Red Line.

  11. Beg to differ. That area needs jobs a hell of a lot more than it needs stores or more residents. Agree on E. 116th though. Agreed on jobs--however the sites along Detroit Ave within a short walk to the Red Line station make more sense to put people/retail there. There is plenty of industrial space further up Berea road for larger employment centers.
  12. That's also enough to make a significant contribution to the construction of the multi-modal station to further connect the convention center, med mart and hotel with regional and intercity transportation, as well as a staging area for conventioneers' charter buses. That $25 million could leverage at least as much in federal rail, transit or intermodal transportation funding. I'd hate to see it go to a use that doesn't leverage additional dollars for our region. I think you have a beginning of an advocacy letter there KJP...
  13. I agree with Cudell--there are already quite a few recently rehabbed apartments there, and plenty more land to build new. I feel bad for those pioneers on the other side of the tracks on Detroit--they need some neighbors!
  14. $25 million???? That's enough to put 10 floors of condos on top ;) All kidding aside, I did notice last night that the new tower lacks any red aircraft warning beacons. All the other buildings around have them....

If I'm not mistaken even the kiosks take cash (though it would be one stop for collection on the block rather than dozens....)
  16. Plenty of other cities have admission taxes, often much higher than Cleveland's. Cleveland does tax the ARTIST at 2%, which is in line with Cincinnati. More and more cities and states are doing this as a cash grab (along with pro athletes and location movie personnel). The 2% doesn't come into play as much as you think. A manager is not going to steer Taylor Swift away from a six figure night over 2%..... Isn't this the tax the courts smacked down? The tax wasn't smacked down--only the method that the city used in calculating it for NFL players (based on total games played per year). If Taylor Swift plays a show in Cleveland, she still has 2% withheld from her payment. Likewise, NFL players are still having it withheld, just on a different method of calculation.

We do have those kiosks on West 6th (just north of St Clair :wtf:). I wonder why they haven't spread further?

All someone needs to do for Mo is remind him of last season. This is Cleveland. Players will get injured. His time will come. When it does, he better be ready to step up....

  20. Very cool, and sad at the same time. How about that proposed City Hall bridging the quadrants of Public Square? Or the Central Armory at 6th/Lakeside... (sigh)
  21. Well this is a dormant thread, but it was the only one I saw close to this topic: Taylor Swift, One Direction prove Cleveland is still thriving concert market CLEVELAND, Ohio – It's not Los Angeles, Chicago or New York, but Cleveland still carries some serious weight in the national touring market. Pollstar released its annual list of the top grossing tours of 2015 and six of the top-10 artists performed in Cleveland last year. http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2016/01/taylor_swift_one_direction_pro.html
  22. Allow me to respond to some of the above....
  23. ^^Buffalo--the only "real" New York team! And they know how to party!
  24. You are correct re Buffalo and the mall. Johnnie Cochran flew in for the family and won the suit. I'm not seeing how Crocker Park would be any different because upper-income people live there????
  25. I really want to see Haslem throw money at this GM/coach problem. Not just any money, but the kind to pull a football guru away from their current gig (everyone has a price). Think Bill Cowher and Ozzie Newsome. If he hires Doug Marrone, I am turning in my Browns jersey for good....
