We have the highest payroll, with lots of injury-prone players. I'm already biting my nails for another chapter of Cleveland sports....
  2. Someone should be fired. But they never were. I travel the world and the RTA machines are simply THE WORST of any I've seen anywhere.
  3. While not scientific, I would imagine the total jobs downtown was much higher, and there were more downtown commuters living along the Shaker lines.
  4. IMO we need forward-thinking private developers This town has so many cheap sites that are RIPE for TOD. In this case I would support "build it and they will come. W25th comes immediately to mind.
  5. Scene magazine jumping in: http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2015/10/20/is-a-cleveland-rta-rail-shutdown-unavoidable
  6. Question for KJP: What did RTA receive in 2008 Stimulus Funds? I still feel that our reps camp up short in that cash grab. I remember reading once that LaTourette received more in funding for his district than Dennis Kuchinich, who was probably too busy running his campaign for president. Not sure if that's true....
  7. If he holds that much value on the current site, from a developable standpoint, then I don't see him moving it 1 or 2 blocks south along Superior. I would have to say the site your referencing KJP, or somewhere near the Food Terminal/Womens prison would be top on the list. Where do people in Cleveland come up with these "values?" This is similar to the Lakefront discussion about "valuable" property at Burke Lakefront. If a developer wanted it that bad, they would be sniffing it out. As I see it now, the county is just drumming up interest in replacing a worn out (though young) public building. In terms of the location, you have WAY to many legal offices spread out from E9th to W9th north of Superior to consider a move to a freeway interchange south of downtown. There are entire buildings filled with attorneys within blocks of the current site. Plus, as discussed thoroughly upthread, many of the courts users, visitors and lawyers use public transit to get there. We can all speculate, but in the end the I'd put my money on the new site ending up within blocks of the current.
  8. Except that irreplaceable gorgeous building wasn't replaced by a skyscraper. It was replaced by an art deco spaceship Bond Clothing Store. I've been thinking of doing a photo thread called "European Cleveland" to show its pre-1900 buildings. But I'm worried some of you folks will head over to the I-480 bridge after viewing it! Don't be so hard on Cleveland. The only city I can think of that still has most of its pre-war architecture intact is Prague. Don't worry KJP. We're a hearty bunch on here. Please start the thread. Our history should be an inspiration, not a kick in the nut$.
  9. I'd much rather see them invest in a brand new long-term garage, to replace the one torn down.
  10. Ugh...horrible!
  11. Time for kickoff. Please new Browns, at least keep it entertaining against the OLD BROWNS.
  12. You may be able to, but I would wait until construction is finished. Riding a scooter on their now would be downright dangerous with some cars doing 65 and some doing 35.
  13. Houston has already weathered many booms and busts. I remember going there as a child and my parent's friends lived in a McMansion neighborhood were every third house stood empty and unsellable, yet they were building new homes right up the street. Houston is a strange place for sure....
  14. Zach was successful on his own before he went to Ken Stewart's. I think the time there was just a break for him to keep money coming in as he worked out details on his next concept. Once he opened Parallax, it was off to the races. Zach had a name in Cleveland, but Z's in University Circle closed. He does have some tasty menu's now. Jeremy, did you work at night? I started there in 1997. There were two variants of "Z", neither were in University Circle. The first was on Chagrin in Tower East, the second was larger and was at Eton Collection. Both were very successful--I believe the Eton location eventually closed as the landlord wanted to jack the rent up and Zach decided not to keep it going.

  16. Same here. I'd prefer KJPs proposal for Superior--much closer to law offices, and most importantly transit.
  17. We do need them near to the center of our transit system and current legal offices, which is much closer to the existing site.
  18. My first question: what would Issue 2 do to the existing casinos?
  19. That's crazy talk. If the Tribe were in the playoffs, the stadium would be packed. Not so in Tampa Bay.... I don't believe that rumour for one second.

How a perfectly average player is holding the Cavaliers hostage http://nypost.com/2015/10/02/how-a-perfectly-average-player-is-holding-the-cavaliers-hostage/
  21. I seem to remember there being a Panini's (on an upper floor) and a BW3, as well. Paninis was a ground-floor establishment, in the middle of Old River Rd just to the north of Main Ave. BW3 was in the space immediately next to the Odeon.

I think this would be a reasonable addition to the app that most Uber users would acclimate to, as long as it wasn't automatic and could be delivered via the app after the fact (much like the Starbucks app allows).
  23. Yep. That's also part of the reason why I proposed a multi-level parking deck as part of my concept a few posts earlier. The fact that the existing Justice Center was built without a parking structure for the public is a big reason why many of those Warehouse District buildings were razed for parking lots. All one has to do is look at how many buildings were demolished for parking before 1974 vs after. BTW, I think by putting a transit center on the ground floor and a public parking deck above it means the Justice Center would not be a dead zone outside of courthouse hours. It would be a 24-hour facility, especially with some transit-supportive businesses (24-hour diner, convenience store, etc) as part of the transit center. Having transit access is crucial--which is another argument for NOT moving it out of downtown, where all points RTA connect. Many employees, plaintiffs and defendants all rely on transit to get to the courts, have meetings with lawyers, visit loved ones, post bonds, etc. Moving it away from central downtown will severely lower the transit access.
  24. Yeah not the neighborhood you want to go breaking into houses....every other one is a cop or a cop's neighbor!
  25. Isn't the point of the complex to have jail and courts connected, so defendants can be marched to and from hearings? Separating the two would cause lots of transport and logistics problems, unless rules now allow for closed-circuit hearings?
