Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
Agreed, though it's still very sad that these buildings are not maintained for the long-haul. But the bones are still good, so I would support re-purposing. IMO they should build on a warehouse district surface lot---state of the art courts and jail, but keep ground-level retail to not kill the life of the neighborhood. Once completed and moved, the current JC can be renovated into office and/or residential. The jail could be torn down to make some public greenspace at the base of the tower.

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
Who approved the design and construction of that building way back when? Is it me, or do the government buildings of the last 40 years have a planned obsolescence?

Maybe get yourself an apartment in Crocker Park, right above Banana Republic?

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
What's funny is the rappers who these guys idolize (or perhaps, that's reversed) often have to have their labels RENT them all the jewelry shown in videos...because they just can't afford it....

Cleveland: Hotels, Conventions, and Tourism News & Info
The article mentioned they try to time the awards with the Warped Tour's stop in Cleveland. They are trying to see if the Warped Tour can alter it's date to be in Cleveland. This would seem to be a fairly simple proposition, given our geography.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I'm guessing this has been discussed somewhere on these boards....I'd like to see the Waterfront Line just become a fare-free zone. It's already a losing-proposition, why not make it convenient for everyone and use it as a loss-leader marketing tool for both RTA and downtown? They could probably easily sell a corporate sponsorship to underwrite some of the cost (The Sherwin Williams Waterfront line, or the Horseshoe Line....). This was discussed in an RTA thread earlier this year: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,4504.10465.html Unfortunately, it would be hard to implement without other, bigger changes to the Light Rail payment routines. Despite the challenges of changing the WFL to a free zone, I do love the idea of finding a sponsor for the line itself. The money from the sponsorship can fund improvements / ongoing maintenance at the stations (at times a problem), extended service hours on weekends, and maybe even help with the cost of future rail car replacement, which I think someone mentioned will be needed within the next 10 or so years. There has to be some way to overcome the fare free zone challenge? I would wonder what the RTA data is on trips that originate on the Waterfront Line and continue east of Tower City? I suppose it would have to be somewhat of an honor system, and those who choose to ride farther would have to present a proof of payment if asked further down the line? And for trips continuing west of Tower City, well it's fare-free anyway.....

It would be great for one of the major corporations to buy into the WFL like some due other high-profile bus lines and bus/trolley routes RTA likes to promote... So far both the public and RTA tend to treat the WFL like the ugly duckling of the system despite the fact that, obviously for FEB, it could/should be seen as a valuable tool to move traffic in and out of this dense development. And the timing is ripe for the RNC.....

County Club Plaza, Kansas City, Missouri
I had hoped that the Avenue District in Cleveland would become something like this. Alas, Crocker Park is running away with the game. Can't wait to see the next round of complaints and exit ramp widening for the residents of Westlake.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
If you take the Cleveland.com comment section advice and look up the victim's facebook page, hes a wannabe gangster. Not saying he deserved this, and possibly wasn't the shooter's target since he was firing into a crowd. But none-the-less speaks to the kind of clientele they are attracting.

Followed by the fleeting glimpse of hope, ending with a kick to the nut$ at the end. This my friends, is Browns football.

And meanwhile, while the employees leave and move to the burbs, the cities delivery of basic services continues to deteriorate. Anyone have a current employment number for the city payroll?

Cleveland: Retail News
I know something is wrong with a retail development in Cleveland when I have never set foot on the property! And now that it's just a Giant Eagle, I never will (hate them with a passion).

ODOT Policy Discussion
It's politics on most of them. Stroking the egos of small time legislators. If they can come up with designs and have their fingers on things it allows their heads to continue inflating.

Looks like unit #4 is already sold! Good stuff. I like the design overall.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Doesn't it make sense that the Cavs would play hardball with TT for reasons noted above (he won't make as much anywhere else), PLUS as an unrestricted free agent if he plays his arse off this year and brings home a ring, his value will go UP next year for another team?

Cleveland: Demolition Watch
Truly sad. Let's hope if they get torn down they are replaced with something worthy--mixed use apartments and retail would be great. Please no Happy's Pizza, CVS or Walgreens.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
The richest places in America all have one thing in common Kansas City, St. Louis and and Baltimore are missing holes on a map of American prosperity. They are relatively low-income, encircled by wealth. Cross their county lines into the suburbs, and households there make, in many cases, nearly twice as much. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonkblog/wp/2015/09/18/the-richest-places-in-america-all-have-one-thing-in-common/

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I do agree with the consensus that the #Blacklivesmatter needs to take these kind of incidents on head on. Why doesn't Al Sharpton ever step in the middle of a gang war? Not enough ratings for him?

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
I would hope they gave him a break. The Indians are in the hunt and still only drawing 11K per game. That poor guy gave them more mileage on social media to casual fans than the starting lineup has all season!

Cleveland Flats Truck Route
I was doing some biking yesterday and noted the constant flow of semi truck traffic coming from the W25th exit of the Flats, and leaving via W25th or across the Detroit Superior Bridge through to Huron. Most of them were multi-axle dump or flatbed steel haulers. Most of them were probably also overweight, leading the the deplorable condition of the roads in these areas (check out the ruts and humps at the east approaches to the DS Bridge. I was just wondering, has there ever been an idea to put in a Flats trucking route to I 490? To me this would make sense--beef up the roads down there in an industrial district, and get the truck traffic off the up-and-coming Ohio City and Downtown streets. If it were to happen, what routes would you suggest?

Wow they are letting boats back on the East Bank! Very nice!
