  1. Glad I got off in Buffalo. I wonder if the stop just short of the station i experienced was a similar problem.
  2. I'll jump in here with a trip report as well. Also my first post-Covid trip Cleveland to Buffalo a few mornings ago. The train arrived on time at the Lakefront station. About 50 people exited in Cleveland, while another 20 of us waited to board. Once on board the coach car was clean , but the windows not so much. I had the car practically to myself with only 3-4 other people in with me. I did not try Wifi. After an on-time stop in Erie, we actually arrived into Buffalo Depew approximately 4 minutes early. Oddly enough, the train stopped short of the station, then pulled the additional 1000 feet or so at exactly the arrival time LOL. Total trip time was 3 hours on the nose, which is about the same as driving. No complaints here!
  3. Berea has a good school system. That land will have good value for housing should Jimmy decide to move. Agreed on the need for downtown luxury housing. Many of these young millionaires are from somewhere else and don't necessarily want to invest in a full-on house here. I could see a market for one or two luxury buildings, maybe even on the lakefront as a part of the complex.
  4. I agree. The existing stadium certainly needs some love, but it's not unsalvageable. Actually watching the MNF broadcast last night and seeing the overhead shots of Levi Stadium in Santa Clara renewed my interest in moving ALL the Browns operations downtown. If you check out this view, you can see the San Francisco 49ers have offices next to the stadium along with practice facilities. There is even room on the site for the Santa Clara Youth Soccer park. So we put a dome over the existing stadium and build a browns office/practice complex as a part of a mixed-use development north of the stadium. Include a small portion of it for public use (youth football and/or soccer). With this would come 100% of the Browns payroll taxes to the City of Cleveland, helping justify the use of public money. The Port and City could come up with a creative way to cut Jimmy in on the parking revenue. Maybe help sell sponsorships for the Pit and Muni lot? The benefits of this are numerous to the city, community and lakefront as a whole, and would give us our best shot at seeing real transformation, including land bridges, shoreway conversion and transit options.
  5. My understanding if he is suspended again, he will forfeit his salary? Maybe someone called in a favor?
  6. It's hard to pick up side pieces in anything smaller.😜 But I'm sure they will tell you, the one time they showed up without it to a burning car people would be calling for their heads. Personally I think the entire public safety thing in the US needs to be examined. It's a free-for-all with civic budgets. But back to Tremont...
  7. Yes of course! I was just adding on to the 300 yard benchmark comparison.
  8. Ground services Swissport laying off all 216 employees at CLE. CLEVELAND (WJW) — Swissport, a ground service provider at Cleveland Hopkins international Airport, intends to lay off more than 200 workers when it stops nearly all its ground handling operations there, according to a state unemployment notice. https://fox8.com/news/hopkins-ground-service-provider-swissport-loses-contracts-will-lay-off-200-workers/ No word on who is taking over the ops for the airlines mentioned, but ostensibly some of these people might be of value to the new vendor?
  9. Joe Flacco had four 300+ yard games in 5 played. Watson is 0-13 in that stat with the Browns. Even with Nick Chubb lining up behind him for some of them. Elite, I think not...
  10. You and me both--sat in the 500 level for the first time at the Huntington Bank Factory of Sadness--it was crazy how long Watson was holding onto the ball while there were open options downfield.
  11. And so it begins. Another season of pain? Or joy? What are the UO predictions?
  12. I'm on the fence about it. I mean, Shooters has seen better days, but it's kind of an icon in Cleveland. And it's an actual restaurant that is active (or could be active) day and night, for families, boaters etc. I'd rather see it live on to fight another day.
  13. Had no idea! Great! I still don't understand how the city could mess up the yard though, without acquiring some of the railroad property?
  14. But ostensibly isn't the "yard" part of the railroad ROW, even if today there are trees on it? And if so, they own the land, so the city can't just build up an embankment on it? I definitely share your concern, just playing devils advocate here. Maybe someone with more railroad knowledge can enlighten us? @KJP?
  15. That and it's the "cheap and easy" thing to do. Farmland next to a freeway is certainly easier to pull off than a former industrial wasteland in the heart of a city.
  16. How would this encroach on the yard? Wouldn't they have to bridge the railroad ROW, no matter what the design?
  17. Welp I guess we've finally made it. We're finally a REAL red state! Go Ohio!
  18. Clearly what the Augustine monks were also thinking in Munich some 500 years ago 😁 https://www.augustinerkeller.de/en/Gallery/360°-tour But seriously--if they think this through, there can be an event center and other rentable gathering spaces included in the design.
  19. If only we had the population growth that Charlotte is experiencing. I don't think we'll see any new rail in Cleveland anytime soon. We're lucky to be hanging on to the lines we have by a thread...
  20. You can't look up on this site, but it will send you periodic alerts based on zip code, which I find handy: https://www.neighborhoodalerts.com
  21. The City of Cleveland clearly gave up this right as a part of some negotiation along the way since the Browns return in 99. I've been party to other naming rights deals and it's often sold to cities based on the strength of the marketing department of the team, versus the City who would be ill-equipped to go out and hustle a company for a deal. But...usually in giving up the rights to sell the naming rights, a city would retain some small portion of the income (10% perhaps). It's strange that the Browns are keeping 100% of the proceeds.
  22. This is another example where a little thinking outside the box and vision by the corporate and political leadership would go along way. There is no reason why such a facility couldn't house and support a nice beer garden and cellar, forming a hub to a new and burgeoning neighborhood. A mixed use building hiding the boring factory building is a start. Apartments above the beer hall--GLBC could even offer a couple of them as AirBNB for beer fans to come in and stay for a couple days... I hate to bring up Europe as an example but there are many examples of this in center cities in Europe--Germany especially (Augustiner in Munich comes to mind...)
  23. This helps lift my spirits after I landed there Sunday night and noted that the LAST departure on a Sunday evening of a holiday weekend from CLE was 7:47 pm. 😐
  24. CLF just hit 52 week low today.
  25. Stay off the sidewalks! There is sure to be lots of soccer moms in Range Rovers post-event!
