  1. The Hilton will be built and fully occupied before the Federal Building is done... Right? Unbelievable amount of "clock-whoring" happening on that job! :)
  2. These are looking amazing! Hope these buildings keep sprouting up throughout the neighborhood.
  3. Get your dose of Cleveland.com idiocy in the comments here: http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/06/answers_to_your_questions_about_the_west_shoreway_conversion.html Maybe some UO responses to them would help even the playing field? :)

And yet another benefit, you can count on one hand the number of cities in North America where taxis are readily available to hail on the street at any given moment....

Regarding Uber and Taxis, some pretty cool info and graphics here: http://www.businessinsider.com/uber-vs-taxi-pricing-by-city-2014-10

And they can do this. ^^see above. Uber will let Taxi drivers in, though I'm not sure of the politics it takes to get them there.

Once again, and I've posted this many times on here, why don't the taxi drivers just get in the game? There are a ton of markets offering Uber Taxi as an option when you search for a ride (Toronto and Honolulu come to mind). Make it just a touch cheaper than UberX can compete on service. Technology works for everyone. Win win!
  8. ...and to and from the CBD from their new developments in Shaker Heights. And the stops at 55th, 34th etc, for the help to reverse commute out to the mansions.

Are you sure about this? I worked for Fedex several years in college and dont remember anything about contractors working at the station. The Custom Critical guys (when you see those vans or 24' trucks with sleepers out on the highway), they are indies. But I think the run of the mill Fedex drivers are all on payroll.

I don't know of any taxi drivers on a cab company payroll either. They are all independent contractors. I don't know of any cabbies who are either, but what I was saying is I bet they would be pleased with such a decision because it curbs Uber's influence. Now, this could also negatively affect cab drivers too in certain states like CA who need to do a money grab to get their books in line. Yes understood--but the cabbies should be careful what they root for. Uber has a huge warchest and could turn it on them very easily.
  11. The only reason the RNC would care about rail is for one of the very same reasons the Van Swerigen brothers did: to make sure the help can get to work at the arena, hotels and restaurants.

  13. There are loans and tax incentives available for rehabs. I'm surprised we don't just give them to worthy developers, who in return for a signature promising a complete rehab, get the property free and clear.

I wouldn't normally advocate an injury to another team, but dammit when is it our turn! The first three rounds decimated our squad.
  15. Dead on--I left out the direct flights to China from there....always helps! It would be interesting to find out if any US cities tried similar pitches.
  16. My buddy in Vancouver told me the Canadian government were openly courting them, offering liberal immigration policies to attract them (have no idea of the validity of this). I'm sure some ended up in the USA as well, but like many immigrants they tend to move in flocks. If Vancouver was easier, they took the path of least resistance.

His shots can be real ugly. He threw down a couple great knee-bending playground moves in the lane yesterday, only to miss the layup. Should never happen at that level.
  18. Love Vancouver! It's one of two (by my estimation) major CBD's in North America without a major interstate/highway rammed right through it (Manhattan being the other). On the residential front, it has prospered greatly since the handover of Hong Kong to the Chinese, when at the time many of the wealthy residents there left fearing the Chinese government closing down free trade or seizing assets there.

I watched the entire game, but felt that your post accurately surmised the current situation. :) The only thing I'd have to add is they wouldn't have to hustle *quite* as much on defense if they could actually get their shots to drop. Way to many missed buckets, including some massive bricks and airballs. The Cavs shot 34% to the Warriors 48% from the field. Delladova needs to to back to pounding espresso to get his jump shot back. Thompson missed quite a few in the paint as well taking his good ole time to set up for a shot, as I believe the announcers pointed out. If the Warriors had hit their free throws, this game would have been much more one-sided.

Well said. The Cavs recognize they have an entire summer to recover, so they are exhausting their bodies and energy supplies like there's no tomorrow. Because after next week, there isn't. I only hope they can make it that long. BTW, I've noticed that some of the Warriors were exhausted at the end of yesterday's game -- notably Steph Curry. But he managed to find something at the end to hit some crazy shots, as well as make several costly turnovers. curry's monentary brilliance in game 3 occurred pretty much with both james and delly on the bench.... I was gonna say, LeBron and Delly are playing their hearts out, but Blatt and the coaching staff (LeBron probably included) are coming up with some great schemes that are completely confounding Golden State at times. This is truly a team effort!
  21. ^^Agreed. We cannot start assigning responsibility to dispatch, and with them ultimately the 911 callers who are the source of the information. It needs to be just the reliable facts. Description of the suspect and what they are doing. Black. Male. Waving gun.

Yes please use this time more constructively. Like writing an op-ed to Crain's about rail in Cleveland! And let the CAVS keep winning! :)
  23. $800 million in debt? From what?

I was going to say the same thing. I feel like the bench rises to the occasion in Kyrie's absence. We need them ALL contributing and this series can look a lot like the Chicago round.
  25. Right? But homeboy must have loot. Probably not cheap to rent out a stadium for your wedding reception.
