Cleveland: Retail News
Risky in what way? Being first? No. Selling ski/snowboard gear downtown. Just seems like a lot of overhead for such a seasonal (and narrow) business in the area. I'm betting they do mostly clothing/shoes out of this locations, with a sprinkling of outdoors gear.

Cleveland: Retail News
Seems risky for a Geigers, but I wish them luck. I wonder if it will be more clothing than gear? The Lakewood store is about 50/50 right now.

Westlake: Crocker Park
Unless employees are living in the immediate area, their commute is going to suck. That interchange is going to become a quagmire when AG is finished. It will take downtown workers 20 minutes to get there from downtown on I90, and another 45 minutes to get home. ODOT's response? Predictably, they'll want to widen I90 up to that point, even though the choke points are on the surface streets.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
I've flown through O'Hare three times in the past year and have been on-time each time. On the other hand, nearly every time I've been EWR-bound from Hopkins going back 10 years with at least one trip a year, my plane has either sat out in Hopkin's airfield because we couldn't get into the pattern into EWR or our flight was canceled outright. I've also heard good things about flying out of Toronto to Europe via Air Canada. Have yet to try it though. Just give it time. ORD will bite you! Air Canada is fine for leisure travel, but I avoid them for business. The planes tend to be outdated, which matches their web services and apps. Log onto their site and you'll feel like you've traveled back in time to 1999.

It won't be long before O'Hare gives you the same. Times 10. The one good thing about EWR is they have shorter runways that service the lighter aircraft, freeing up runways for mainline and heavies, allowing faster operations overall. One good Thunderstorm at O'Hare and it's a mess for hours as all the aircraft are backed up waiting on the same runways.

MARC recently added Saturday AND Sunday services on the Baltimore-Washington Penn Line that serves BWI. This is their Penn Line weekend schedule: http://mta.maryland.gov/sites/default/files/PENN-Weekend_122014.pdf Weekday schedule: http://mta.maryland.gov/sites/default/files/Penn_Full_111714.pdf And back to Cleveland Hopkins which, BTW, looks dead from the tarmac. Or at least it did last week when I returned from Ireland. But you get inside the terminal and there's a decent amount of passengers in there. I don't see many planes so I wonder what they're all doing there! I've noticed this too--perhaps it's due to the reduction in smaller planes and more mainline aircraft, so (relatively) more people on fewer flights. The walled off D concourse is a real shame though....

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
It may have grown up under the Democrats, but it was fully matured and blown into obesity under the GOP. The Interstate system wasn't named for Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy or Johnson.....

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
I'd love to see the north eastern states band together and find some way to fund these trains in a public/private partnerships to keep the gentlemen from Kansas and Alabama from deciding the fate of rail. That could work, because those lines are profitable. The abovementioned Congressmen are naturally going to oppose subsidizing the lines that don't serve their regions. Especially since they don't support lines that DO serve their regions.

I am now a fan of Uber. The system worked flawlessly. It was pretty cool to actually see how far away the car was before pickup. Absolutely going to use this in the future!!! It's the number one reason for Uber's success IMO (followed closely by the reliable fare quotes and non-stinky cars). If the taxi companies would just join them instead of fighting Uber (as they have done in Toronto), we'd have the best of both worlds.

I never wish for a player injury, but would love to see one with D Rose right about now! Maybe he can trip over Noah's man bun after it becomes unfurled scrambling for a loose ball.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
They'll never be able to pull it off fully, because they can't dock as many (or perhaps none) boats on the east bank. I would think that some boats will be able to be docked on the East Bank?? Maybe not 5-6 deep, but I'd think (or at least hope) that they could still dock over there. Maybe FWD wont fully compete with Shooters, but any little bit of competition should be healthy. Shooters has had many many years without any competition in the area. Hopefully a few new places across the river will be good for the West Bank as well!!! Although it's been many years, if my memory serves me the East Bank was never able to raft boats and after a couple of incidents with freighters the Coast Guard did away with them entirely.

Nice. I'm flying back from Dublin through Boston soon, with the Boston-Cleveland leg on Jet Blue. I wrote them off in total, but perhaps now they have some sort of alliance with other carriers? That was quite a few years ago. For those of us that fly 150k+ per year for business, I need flexibility.
-
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
I had a bad experience with them once in Boston that has chased me away ever since. They canceled my flight and had no space on others, and could not put me on another carrier. Basically they told me "sorry, you're screwed until next Wednesday when we have seats available." Have not flown them since....
