Orioles playing last home game with White Sox with no fans in attendance due to riots. WTF? http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2015/04/28/orioles-white-sox-game-closed-to-public-rescheduled-rays/26523105/
  2. Amen. Hold your heads high Cleveland. The Celtics are swept. He can right his trashy column about the Red Sox now.
  3. Are they offering refunds or any form of compensation for the lack of paid spaces?
  4. That's certainly a possibility. I know the city has considered proposals in the past 20 years or so to develop the muny lots. It was a potential site for the convention center and also for a HOPE IV CMHA mixed income housing project. So they have thought of the lots as having another, future -- apart from surface parking. I know conserving surface lot space is a sore subject on this forum, but I hope they never kill it all off around the stadium. The tailgating scene would suffer! Part of the reason the Bills pulled out of the Toronto series was the zero fan involvement.
  5. Impressive. Probably helps that they already have crews working on them to install the upgraded signage.
  6. It probably helps that it's provincial leadership is also in its main city. I've often said, if The Ohio State University had been founded in Cleveland, we would be Chicago and Columbus would still be grazing cows.

The thing about Boston is their fans expected them to win 100% their tonight. They are Boston. They win everything! This was a huge win for the Cavs to go in there and not give up any ground.

For this Uber story we can probably dig up hundreds of stories over the last decades of some guy hailing a cab at JFK and asked to be driven to OHare. Never mind the fact that in towns like NYC, the taxi drivers are already probably working 20 hours a day....even with regulations.
  9. As long as the outcome is the same as last year, I wish we played EVERY Thursday night in Cincinnati.....
  10. Mike Polk deserves every douchebag WTAM listener in his fandom. May they forever suffer in the boredom of Khaki pants, fat wives and exurbia.

I'm hoping coach LeBlatt and company have learned lots of schemes from these last two games and go into the Garden and give the Celtics a drubbing on their home court.
  12. OK that is reasonable, glad to hear it was approved, but also glad they are going to listen to the neighborhood input.
  13. Any updates from that planning meeting?
  14. We just need to attack another country, have them thoroughly bomb, nuke and defeat us, rebuild us, defend us, then buy all our products. Until then, our politicians are content to relive their glory days, in the mid to late 20th century.
  15. [quote author=327 link=topic=1823.msg753337#msg753337 date=1429451798 Hate to be a downer but I'm still disappointed in the thinking behind this project. The E&Y tower is nice... but otherwise, it's as if they designed all this in the 80s and then focused every resource on property acquisition, without ever updating the concepts. You're probably not far off there, since Wolstein probably started dreaming of the acquisition and plotting with Mike White in the 80's....
  16. ^^see above--they are doing track work east of the bridge on Shaker Square, Lee Rd, etc....
  17. Yeah I was going to say i couldn't be that many.... Good luck on your adventure. Give us a headcount of riders!
  18. How many LRTs would be "enough" to run a decent schedule? The route isn't that long....I wonder how many are currently on the "right side" of the bridge?
  19. Your prediction has come true. Should be a great night here--weather is in our favor as well!
  20. How much is an elevator these days? It sounds like an excuse to me--it can't be that much to be a deal-killer?
  21. Since it's a different developer on that corner perhaps they left out the Brickhaus details from their rendering. I'm under the impression that is still happening.
  22. Should be an easy fix if they want to do away with it. Fans buy jerseys, but not many buy the pants....
  23. ^Looks like it was fixed just in time to get there for the end of the blaze! :)
  24. Let's be frank, there is this certain pernicious group of white people in this country who, under the guise of "conservatism," see high-quality mass transit, esp HSR as enhancing travel, and hence economic opportunity, of minorities and the poor and, therefore view it as a threat ... This case is particularly odious, as with this excellent Dallas-to-Houston proposal, a private (let's repeat, private) company proposes to build the route entirely themselves, taking away right-wingnuter's biggest argument against HSR: it's a waste of precious taxpayer dollars... So what do the wingnuts do? They come up with bullsh*t, supposed legal rationale not to build: in this case, private landowners, especially those all important rural folks, will supposedly have their rights trampled upon when eminent domain is used by the private rail buildings for their track ROW. This is beyond a reach, legally, but it's unfortunately where we're at in this Country. ... but let's pull the covers off the root of this nonsense and call it what it is: racial prejudice and fear. I don't see that at all in this case. There won't be train loads of poor people trekking from Dallas to Houston and back. The light rail in Dallas, yep they are fighting that. But this HSR project is all about big business. Southwest Airlines, auto companies, highway contractors, they all have a stake in defeating it.
  25. I hadn't even noticed.....
