  1. Cut a couple holes in the side of the Mather, add some pilings and bumpers, and voila...the worlds most unusual cruise ship terminal, fashioned out of a retired ore boat. The port/passenger tax can include a ticket to the museum so every person that steps off also benefits the Mather.
  2. Such an awful welcome to our cruise ship visitors. Cleveland needs to figure that out.
  3. And where is everyone going to sit and park for hours while they wait to pick up their loved ones? This will be a clusterf**k LOL
  4. Hopefully the Cubans learned their lesson as relatives are rounded up and deported.
  5. That I think they finished 2 years ago... 😜

I am currently working in Europe and can confirm that my colleagues here are definitely re-thinking any upcoming travel to the states, mainly due to the stories of visas being revoked over social media criticism of Trump.
  7. I've long argued for in Cleveland what i see in most other cities of all sizes. There should be parking bans on one side of the street for 1-2 days. This allows the city to actually clean them, and also cuts down on this sort of abandonment of cars. For example, when I lived in Buffalo, the street i lived on had parking Thursday-Monday on one side, and Tuesday-Wednesday on the other. Cars left on Tuesday were ticketed/towed, depending on the street access. The problem in Cleveland, of course, would be enforcement. Neither the police nor city parking enforcement people would want to add to their workload.
  8. The malls should be Cleveland's living room. Public Square should continue to be a hub for transit and commerce, as it has been since the city's founding.
  9. Hopefully some moronic councilperson doesn't try to force a gas station on one of the parcels.
  10. But this is where Cleveland is weird. They make incoming international passengers with CLE as a final destination pass back through TSA to walk back to baggage claim and claim their luggage. So they are taking away duty free booze from people who should just be able to walk to bag claim and head to the curb. I'm not sure why they do this, other than maybe there is no customs facility quarantine area in bag claim? But I still don't understand it.
  11. This would likely not affect anything at Cleveland, which is just plain stupid for CLE passengers arriving from a non pre-clearance location like Cancun. Passengers still must go through TSA before claiming their checked bags, and lose duty free alcohol etc purchased on the way.
  12. The Bengals just need to send some suitcases of cash to the right GOP reps in the Statehouse, and all will be fair again.
  13. I have always thought the same. One good pub with decent post show food would make a killing.
  14. Very much so. The city unions have spent decades negotiating crazy rules for their members because there isn't any money to go after huge raises. So instead, the rank and file get more break time, and time to dressed in the morning, then more break time, and transit time, followed by another break, then time to go back for lunch, then another break. then back to change out of uniforms in the afternoon. In my experience with the City of Cleveland, the average worker in these positions probably spends less than 3 hours of every 8 hour day actually doing their job.
  15. I've seen neighborhood groups doing cleanups before as well, especially around the Red Line Greenway. It's a shame the RTA police riding around in pairs in their full-sized SUVs 24/7 can't patrol the rapid ROW's and try to catch some illegal dumpers in action.
  16. Who are the recipients and ring leaders we can start calling and emailing?
  17. I'm sure they get hit plenty also on the underpasses from the roadways above. One of my houses is on a busy roadway and in the spring there is a coating of salt dust on everything that gets kicked from the roads
  18. They would just have to build caissons down to the bedrock. Not entirely insurmountable. Any taller structures in Cleveland have already had to do this. I'm still a fan of this idea and wrapping the outside of the stadium in mixed use buildings which would not only support the roof structure, but would bring activity to the area 365 days a year.

So embarrassing. And while their at it, they should probably make the rank-and-file city employees do the same. If you've ever been around them, it's a toxic culture brought on by feelings of being untouchable as the unions protect them.
  20. That is especially strange given the consistency in LA's climate vs the 100 degree swings and road salt that RTA's trains encounter over the course of a service year.
  21. More of these kind of April fools please! Would love to see these kinds of buildings lining Detroit from W 28th all the way to Lake Ave (or West Blvd TOD building, if we dare to dream).
  22. I hope cooler heads prevail, the stadium stays downtown and we get a bunch of new development around it. I would force his hand to the fire and move ALL the Browns facilities into the city of Cleveland. Practice, offices, gyms. You want public money, it's going to be centralized. Everything!
  23. Welcome to the Trump-lead federal workplace. Is anyone shocked that this is happening? I'm sure most of the federal workforce is on edge...and tower controllers see way more stress than the rank and file. Also interesting that a Google search for this yields a few blog hits, and this one local ABC affiliate reporting it. Nothing to see here...
