Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
My guess is this is more about cold and icy steel rails. Air pressure drops would cause the brakes to get stuck ON, and the train wouldn't move at all.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Pneumatic brakes use compressed air to actuate the pads/rotors/whatever to stop the vehicle. In a closed system air contracts and becomes more dense as it cools, which decreases pressure and decreases braking power. I always figured air-brakes had an external pump to regular pressure to prevent the situation KJP described. Why wouldn't this affect trucks and buses on the roads? The air pressure keeps the rotors and pads OFF the wheels....

How does the cold affect "pneumatic" brakes?

The Ohio State University Buckeyes Football Discussion
There's a lot to be said for hunger and work ethic. If you come up in a prime-time program, you are probably already jaded to some extent by the time you get to the pros.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
The Winking Lizard has enough brand loyalty to overcome that location. The Fridays there lasted for YEARS when Fridays was all the rage.

It's up for sale and has been for a long time. I think he is asking $750k for the business and property. Not sure if anyone has taken a serious interest. Should be designated as a landmark....

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
This is why going back to the deal formation of the new Hilton seems like a letdown. It was a perfect chance for a public/private partnership to build not only the new convention hotel, but some new construction residential component to it, with the increased costs being covered by the buyers/renters.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Where Young College Graduates Are Choosing to Live When young college graduates decide where to move, they are not just looking at the usual suspects, like New York, Washington and San Francisco. Other cities are increasing their share of these valuable residents at an even higher rate and have reached a high overall percentage, led by Denver, San Diego, Nashville, Salt Lake City and Portland, Ore., according to a report published Monday by City Observatory, a new think tank. Cleveland: Retail News
But you're forgetting that it's EXTREMELY popular in growing urban areas with large populations of 20-somethings. You may not like their model, but you might like the people that shop there. Walk into any condo in downtown Toronto and you'll see quite a few Ikea furnishings.....

Keep him on the roster and maybe his agent can find him another car sales gig to keep food on the table and vodka in the fridge.

It won't matter anyway. The vast majority of the attendees will hop on provided shuttle buses and won't be taking RTA trains.

Cleveland - Architectural Lighting discussion
Funny though--late at night the only lights you see on INSIDE downtown office buildings are the government ones. Drive by that courthouse at midnight and it's lit up like a Christmas tree!

I've seen the court community services working along the Red Line sometimes, but I can't remember the last time I've seen them. Seems to me years ago I saw them as well....time to get them back.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
This seems like an ideal project for court services. Let's get some adults and juveniles convicted of minor offenses to get out there and clean up the trash.

The balls are given to the referee and NFL game crew 2 hours before the game for inspection and safe keeping. There is something more to this story if true....

I'd really hate to be that GB tight end that had the onside kick bounce off his face. Or that GB defensive back that let the receiver catch the desperation 2 pt. conversion pass. Props to R. Wilson and Co. They kept their cool. They stepped up and made plays when it counted most. Holy cow I completely forgot about the GB defender that intercepted the ball and FELL STRAIGHT TO THE GROUND INSTEAD OF RUNNING STRAIGHT TO THE END ZONE for a 26-7 lead. It's truly amazing to contemplate what exactly had to transpire for the Pack to lose that game!!!! Very suspicious indeed. And how about that onside kick? I could have caught that ball with my eyes closed.

Toronto: Developments and News
^^Agreed KJP, and that's what I was getting at with the 1920's NYC analogy. Those neighborhoods were far from perfect, and people complained of the lack of planning and vision. But it somehow managed to become the greatest city on earth. And Toronto is certainly aiming to aiming in the top 10 if they keep up the exploding growth.

I suppose thats what the old fuddy-duddies in New York were saying in the 1920's as the growth exploded. Oh the horror of the concrete canyons!

Not too much support for the kid in the facebook comments. Nope, but a couple of posters seem to think the cop has no business rousting him off the bus if he did not pay his fare. :wtf: Well of course...they were probably the ones filming the event and would share in the profits.

Is that "reasonable" though? Who would forgo an outpatient procedure because it's 15 miles away? It's not like you pop in on your lunch hour and get a vasectomy!

Is it me, or is this suburban expansion by hospital networks just a bad business model? I mean, what suburbanite in their right mind is going to say..."I'm not going downtown for that heart transplant. There are brown folks there." Or even on a lesser scale, who wouldn't go downtown to see a specialist about their knee, or skin rash? Its their health right? I can see they are practicing market share prevention, by getting in the faces of the soccer mom masses before their competition does. But with the future of healthcare uncertain, I wonder if this won't come crashing back down on them in the future?
