Is now a bad time to ask to restart the CCC rail program?

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
This will mean 3 20+ story new buildings in Cleveland in as many years. Not sure when the last time that has happened?

Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
Really I feel like this debate keeps popping up on this thread every 4-6 months as we wait for Gilbert to make a move on the riverfront site. The Higbee building was specifically stated as a viable space along with the riverfront site as a part of the constitutional provision. The language "allows" for a casino, but does not mandate it. Gilbert is going to be raking in some cash over the next few years with Lebron back home, let's hope he stays consistent and does the right thing to improve Cleveland. He's going to want to recoup some of his $80 million investment in the riverfront. I have a feeling something is in the works that will make us all very happy, and my personal hope is that it does NOT include a casino.

Cleveland: Downtown: Hilton Cleveland
Not completely on topic of the project, but I just saw lots of management/sales openings for this property on Linked in. Please pass along to your hospitality sector friends: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs2/view/24494167?trk=eml-jymbii-organic-job-title&refId=6082172c-4edc-43e1-875f-2ba13cd71e15&midToken=AQE3SFGNKReZxQ

Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
Are there any links to video of this coverage? I missed it the first time around, and a quick Google search yielded nothing. I would love to see those overhead shots. If you happen to find the video, look for the truck parked on the curb in front of Cle Clothing store. That was my Uhaul. Not a good day to move out... LOL talk about bad luck. If you had only predicted when signing that lease that it would be the Cavs home opener....and Lebron would be coming home with a bunch of free agents... and oh, Cleveland be the focus of the world on your move out day... :)

Cleveland: Downtown: Jack Cleveland Casino - Phase 2
Speaking of the market---gambling is down, but residential and hotels downtown are way up. I wouldn't put it past Gilbert to think outside the box and do something with mixed use on the site. Would love to see a riverfront residential/office complex, that just happens to house Phase II on the first few floors.

^^^^Good idea. And offer free landing fees for venture capitalists and their jets willing to fund said start ups. Make it easy for them to visit their creations!

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
I'm glad to see the Metroparks being so proactive, especially for quasi-governmental agency. They've always been a vital part of our community, but it seems recently that everything they touch turns to gold. Edgewater park is a game changer now thanks to them. Glad to see they are looking to the future rather than reacting to the present!

Cleveland: Suburban Crime & Safety Discussion
Why do you imply this was to be expected? (honest question) Coming from KJP, I read it as the coverage from Cleveland.com was to be expected, not the crime itself. The fact there there are so many questions here makes it clear, that this was not clear!

Ridesourcing
In Cleveland most cab drivers are ripoff artists as well. Especially on weekend nights they never want to run the meter and are always trying to gouge. I am very thankful for both Uber and Lyft in Cleveland.

Great news--long overdue!

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Here's hoping! I still think the east side of the hood will win out in the connectivity race. Probably true as Ohio City has much more buzz, but then again Clifton/Baltic and Edgewater have a history of neighborhood stability, and the Enhance Clifton project is quickly breathing new found energy back into it.

I believe Erocc was referring to their posters for the call to action to vandalize gentrifying areas to prevent development, not their actual political idealogy. In this the tactic would resemble the Kristallnacht, made popular by the Nazis in the late 30's.

The 9
Will be interesting to see how they work for drunk hotel revelers. For people used to working in buildings with them, there is a short learning curve. I know I've gotten stuck in several buildings in NYC not realizing how the system works. I think that is the "soft" security system that works. Most hotels, i've been in, have the magnetic strip you need to swipe or wave before pressing the indicator. In office buildings you usually have to pass security before enter a select elevator bank. So for those not staying in the hotel or are drunk it will deter/curb non guest from access to guest floor. I don't mean that. I mean paying attention to the one arriving to take you to your floor. In the ones I've been in, it assigns you a number for the unit that takes you there. That alone may be a challenge for certain patrons at 3 am on a Saturday morning :)

Amen. Connection connection connection! Something Cleveland has been lacking in this urban regeneration!

Im updating my idea to include an indoor, underground connection to rail. Get Dan Gilbert to incorporate it under his Phase II for the casino.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Not saying that at all--the driver was definitely in the wrong. I just found it funny that since he just happened to be in the right place at the right time that this incident has garnered air time. As if this city doesn't have worse problems to confront. And, for the record, the light was clearly red and Dudley accelerated through the red to get to the anarchist RTA driver. The difference: Dudley doesn't have a union rep. Or a dedicated thread on this forum. This was all in good fun--now backed to regularly-scheduled RTA programming.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Having been a 360hp engine away from getting nailed by a nonobservant bus on Lee Road last century, I'm always surprised to be siding with a bus driver again, but versus the Spoked Crusader, no problem. Yeah I felt the same way. Her union rep will be by her side claiming she did nothing wrong, despite the video showing her running a light and driving on the wrong side of Lorain. But "Bike Doright" was just as annoying, and also a traffic scofflaw, recording his own offense on a helmet mounted camera. This is a problem I have with bike nerds in general, who want you to share the roadway, but ignore traffic laws when convenient to themselves. I did see it made Channel 3 News last night at 11, so he has managed to stir the pot. I'm sure the RTA driver will get a couple weeks off (with pay), and Dudley will go back to his mom's basement to share his 15 minutes of fame on Myspace. All will be right in the world.

Dudley do-right on his bicycle, runs a red-light on his Huffy to capture this RTA drivers response to her grave transgression. We should report him as well! http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2014/09/29/video-rta-bus-turns-left-at-red-light-drives-on-wrong-side-of-road

Looking for a quiet area of Cleveland
As mentioned upthread, the Clifton-Baltic and Edgewater neighborhood should totally fit your bill. Walkable (enough) with not a lot of nightlife. Clifton is currently under construction making it into a transit oriented blvd, but that is scheduled to be done by the end of the year. There are definitely lots of options in your price range for both pre-war buildings and two family homes.

Cleveland: Suburban Crime & Safety Discussion
It's football season, so theirs an uptick in yellow collar crime out in the burbs: WILLOUGHBY, Ohio – A man was arrested after police said he urinated on patrons at the Willoughby Brewing Company early Sunday. http://www.cleveland.com/willoughby/index.ssf/2014/09/man_urinates_on_customers_at_w.html#incart_river I am glad I live in the city away from the scourge that is the Uri-Nation.
