My sources say he is, and has been planning for quite some time. He wants his boys to play high school ball at SVSM and is interested in attracting other NBA talent with similar-aged sons to the Cavs. Question is, will that be this move...or one more down the road closer to retirement.

Can you explain or give greater details on what park/parks and rec centers have poor maintenance or are being (to a degree) mis-managed? What do you think the Metroparks can or are able to do, that the City cannot? Exactly. Cudell Rec is one that comes to mind for me--when I walk through always lots of trash, etc. The turn around at Edgewater is amazing. I think part of it is a cultural thing--Metroparks employees are not the type to walk by trash just because their job description is grass-cutting. City employees, on the other hand, tend to stay in their designated lanes (and drive very slow).

I wish we could give more city park space to the metroparks. The City of Cleveland parks and rec doesn't seem to be able to keep up with maintenance.

Something that's been missing from Cleveland events for years. Glad to hear they are bringing it back.
  5. I agree with you to a point. But to make our smaller airport more friendly and competitive, I would prefer an on-site location. At the minimum, the city should consider reconstructing the roads leading to and from the facility. Riding one of those buses there is like driving on the moon.
  6. Agree. They could probably finance it just from the savings from not having run shuttle buses back and forth to the rental facility. For sure--that was a really shortsighted move to build that where it is. In reality, our rental car facility should be in the first couple floors of the SHORT term garage, or in the new red lot.
  7. Or you just give up and move to NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, etc....the brain drain that has dogged us for years.

Interesting--never knew that about the Lorain Carnegie.
  9. Wow that's actually a terrifying stat. What would it take to get that changed?
  10. No amount of Flange Greasers would make up for rerouting traffic way from the river mouth...the KJP way!
  11. Absolutely. And they've managed to create an enjoyable environment that serves all four seasons. http://missbinnyc.blogspot.com/2010/12/fire-pit.html This could work so well for PS, especially considering the foot traffic going through there day after day. On that subject it is interesting to note that much of the discussions here center around removing the buses and transit from Public Square. Yet it's the buses and transit that provide much of the foot traffic that would be needed to make these Bryant Parkesque kiosks and coffee stands a success. IMO there needs to be a design that is all encompassing. Cleveland just doesn't have the foot traffic of NYC. Public Square has always been our hub of commerce and transit. We may very well have to keep it that way.
  12. Great Lakes Watersports http://www.glwatersports.com/Pages/default.aspx I haven't rented in a few years, but the last time I did their equipment was kind of ratted out given the fees. But must be a tough business in Cleveland with only a few months of decent weather to recoup the investment.
  13. Same with W117th/Madison. I think the RTA landscaping crew is taking some time off....

Makes you wonder if he didn't do all this on purpose? Ca ching.
  15. That's fear, and also the fact that certain subcultures hold those guys up on a pedestal. They need to send them to the pen and let them get what's coming to them.

I shared his sentiment back when I was a kid and cable TV was in its infancy. Ted Turner branded them "America's Team" and you couldn't flip through the channels without the Braves being on. Couldn't stand them. Now, ehhh I could care less.

The farewells sell tickets, so I'm sure the Tribe will offer up something.

Wiggins and Johnny Football. I feel as though we're entering a golden age of Cleveland sports. What's next? Lebron comes home and three-peats with the Cavs? You can pinch me anytime, or I can just about 6-8 months and reality will set back in....
  19. How bout that Tribe eh? At least they didn't give up two touchdowns today to end the series. Sheesh. On a good note the A's chartered 757 looked great at Burke Lakefront all weekend. Looked even better today leaving town! ;)

Damn Dulli and Curley are looking old. And its really the Twilight Singers with Curley on bass now right? Or close. But they still sound good. Props to Cincinnati for delivering one of the most intriguing bands of the 90's.
  21. Bummer. I wonder how long the Staples store on West 117th will stay open, although its copy center is ALWAYS busy. It's always busy--but the store really isn't. So much so that they have resorted to some mornings not having cashiers, and forcing customers to check out at the copy center, which is overly busy. You can predict the result--both store customers and copy center customers are pi$$ed off. I'll never understand American retailers and how a $8/hour cashier really affects their bottom line. If you're worried about one cashier, you have much bigger problems coming your way. (Giant Eagle please take note).
  22. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,4504.msg687211.html#msg687211 Thanks TPH must have missed that. Still schoolbus style with the new seats....no bueno.

I'm still not understanding the concerns with Denver weather? It is BEAUTIFUL there when contrasted with Cleveland. Cleveland gets WAY more precipitation, and temperature wise Cleveland is only 2 degrees warmer on average, just because Denver's higher air low temps tend to be lower. http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/vacationplanner/compare/results?from=vac_compare&clocid1=USOH0195&clocid2=USCO0105 Denver also has nearly double the number of sunny, clear days than Cleveland. http://www.currentresults.com/Weather/US/average-annual-sunshine-by-city.php If you want concern--we should all be concerned with the weather protections afforded by the new convention center Hilton hotel valet areas, but that is for another thread....
  24. ^^Would much prefer a seating configuration like the Baltimore car shown. I'm a tall guy and don't fit in the Redline seats. Does anyone have a pic of the new rehabbed interiors?
  25. Will be interesting to see how that goes without direct access to a bar.
