  1. My biggest complaints about Hopkins: 1. Size of the restrooms. It shows its age and the fact that it wasn't built for as many passengers actually use it. 2. Lack of Starbucks. FIXED! :) 3. The parking structure constantly fills up. The other morning I was forced out onto the frozen tundra outdoors where the long term parking ramp once stood. This is something I hope they fix soon. I miss the long term ramp!
  2. Well stated. Contrary to the conservative talking head line of thinking, most immigrants are here to work (and work the jobs that Americans refuse to do). They are not here to collect wellfare or game the system. They are doing the work for the Americans who are gaming the system.
  3. I suggest Jeff Heinen get on a plane. There are plenty of great examples of how to do this around the country. The Ralphs in downtown Seattle comes to mind.
  4. I dunno. Even if it's only $2 million to rehab the building, I don't see rock climbing as a feasible means to recoup that without public money. The writer unfairly compares an abandoned factory on a minor street to an abandoned church on prime real estate. I wish them the best if they can pull it off, but not holding my breath.
  5. Can I get an AMEN? Seriously. If you've never spent any time in a Cleveland Public high school, I encourage you to find a way for a visit. Its a wonder any kids make it out with an education. Non-stop distractions. Truly sad.
  6. Nice to see that having boots on the ground made a difference--they were arrested immediately!
  7. Given that the schools are a long way off from being "fixed," I see the most effective strategy is job growth amongst recent college graduates. They are more likely to settle down in the city, for at least their 20's, and contribute to the tax base and housing growth. Health care and biotech would be at the front of that list.
  8. Exactly. Being closer to the street makes it easier for tenants to interact with it. I have no problem with shorter buildings--as long as there are lots of them and not a sea of parking lots.
  9. Is this for real? http://www.credomobilize.com/petitions/end-the-nfl-s-charity-tax-break?sp_ref=27226000.4.2093.f.9633.3&source=fb_share_sp
  10. This would be amazing on one of those WHD lots. Would be easy to build parking as a part of the structure, so win win for everyone.
  11. Clifton through Lakewood was also resurfaced in the last two years, while east of 117th hasn't been touched, and bears more of the traffic.
  12. I've seen some on this forum somewhere--will have to do some digging. That's what made me think back to it. Even Superior is a fraction of the density it once was! :(
  13. Bike lanes are not a part of the project. To do so would require more width, and all the trees would have to come down!
  14. The downtown shots are hard to stomach, but even more so are those of streets like Superior and St Clair east of 12th St heading out of town. Those were some busy commercial thoroughfares that were utterly mowed down at some point and replaced with completely bland single story structures. Ugh!
  15. It just started on the Cleveland side with the tree removals, but it started last fall on the Lakewood side with the installation of bus pads on the outside lanes at bus stops, as well as placing the foundations for the new bus shelters. You are absolutely correct KJP. But since those Lakewood folks turned down most of the project, I was focused on the Cleveland side. ;)
  16. This project has officially begun. Crews are removing some trees along the route. Kind of sad, but I guess some trees get in the way of progress.

Let's start with the idiots that are too lazy to even clear their windows then drive! :)
  18. Philly is really on the rebound. Good for them--glad to see the city making a comeback.
  19. Yes way to lure in the top talent. I realize everyone has to start somewhere, but Pettine? Is he keeping his family in Orchard Park and commuting on the 90?

You can thank the FDA for that. Any symptom reported by a participant in a trial must be reported, including flatulence. :?
  21. Exactly! It was brilliant, not as brilliant as the ass tap on Crabtree followed up by the choke gesture, but still brilliant. I see no brilliance in his egocentric displays. If Peyton lights him up for 200 yards, you won't see Mr Manning making gestures. I hope it happens (as much as it pains me to root for Denver).
  22. Would there be any progress in re-routing freight traffic to go along with this? Getting rid of the trains through there would certainly help the pedestrian activity, as well as the Flats and other neighborhoods on the approaches.

Those people of WV don't need no stinking regulations! When something like this happens, private industry and the free market band together to help them!
  24. Me neither. Especially if the Browns buy Mike Pettine a bus ticket down from Buffalo, where hes coached Mario Williams.
  25. I should have quoted Firenze's comment about Ohio City and Duck signs. I'm not a fan of the Flats sign depicted in the rendering either and would prefer more edge.
