  1. Comment: 19 Hours Ago Seems to me like he was testing the waters, and found out she's a boiling cup o' crazy. Run away dude. Run far away. That woman will someday have many cats.
  2. Power and Light district is really KC's E 4th, since one of it's main draw is the arena. I hope the best for the Flats project, but would really like to see it focus on residential and office. Cleveland doesn't need another restaurant zone.
  3. Greater Cleveland lost more jobs than any U.S. metro area for 4 months straight Four straight months and counting: Greater Cleveland yet again lost more jobs than any metro area in the country, the Labor Department reported Monday. In fact, the Cleveland-Elyria-Mentor metro area was the only one of the 37 large metro areas posting a decrease in employment between August 2012 and August 2013. The metro area includes Cuyahoga, Medina, Lake, Geauga, and Lorain counties. Greater Cleveland lost 7,900 jobs. Bloomington Ind. was second, losing 4,000 jobs and Peoria, Ill. was third, shedding 3,500 jobs. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2013/10/greater_cleveland_lost_more_jo_1.html#incart_more_business
  4. You forgot to factor the $80 million (to purchase the air rights) in your equation You're right Hts. Math was never my strong point, but I've lived in this town long enough to know when something doesn't feel right.
  5. Call me overly-cynical, but I stand by my equation: Skywalk + Entire Building = Phase II * 0
  6. And how about a direct transfer from the Red Line without having to exit and reenter?
  7. Nice KJP. I'm confused though, probably from the way the author worded this article. What is left to be built to full see this bypass to completion? It makes it sound like most everything is done?
  8. I like it--though I wish it could distract us all from the Justice Center in dramatic fashion. The cruise ship is a very nice option--I would take a cruise if given the chance!
  9. But I bet these places would sell/rent like hotcakes to lawyers! It would be great to stumble over to a trial or pop home for a quick 2 martini lunch on recess!

I haven't seen the "gas tank" guy in a while, but he used to make me laugh. I used to call him out on it asking why he was going to buy more gas if his gas tank was punctured. He had somehow figured out that he could put just enough in it to get home.
  11. It's an old Travelodge, if that tells you anything. A little dodgy, but the owners have put a little into it...enough to make it passable in a pinch.
  12. If they sign him I bet he takes one big against the Browns on Dec 22.

To make room for a bike/ped path on the westbound one.... ;)
  14. Traditional Guinness is room temperature. Not true--I've been to the factory. 6-7C is what they recommend.
  15. Toronto is off-the-hook. Considering it's Canada's NYC and they had proper banking laws that minimized the financing meltdown in 2008, it's not surprising. Young people from all over Canada move there and put down roots.

When you call into a company for customer service and they say "for faster service please enter your account number." Only when the person actually answers, the first thing they ask you for is the account number! I'd hate to see what slower service gives you.....
  17. Many teens taking a pass on a driver's license Larry Copeland, USA TODAY A generation ago, teens couldn't wait to get a driver's license. It represented freedom and independence. How times have changed. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/10/13/teen-drivers-license/2891701/
  18. I hope that returning cars to Main St will help Buffalo--but unless they start attracting jobs there it will be a long battle. HSBC is moving out of the tallest building in Buffalo (which the rail runs under). By 2014 the HSBC Center will be without a name and 95% empty. Sad.
  19. This is where I was going with this, so the taxpayer outlay would be minimal if the subsidy ended with the additional design. The developer would pick up the tab for the additional labour, materials, and marketing.
  20. I disagree. In a market where rents do not support new construction, why not boost the local economy in way other than convention dollars (a still-dying business by the way). Extend the sin tax and start supporting neighborhoods, not just corporate interests.
  21. Except I think your going to need a lot more than 12 floors of hotels if you want a 600-650 hotel so that building would be pretty tall and I don't know if they are willing to go that high. Perhaps so. I was basing on someone's assertion above that the site plan wasn't that much smaller than the DC hotel. Large footprint at 12 hotel floors should yield a fairly sizable room total, no?
  22. No thanks. It makes basically a freeway, and your average American driver has a hard time comprehending such signaling. Apparently a green arrow and red X are confusing. You must be too young to remember Carnegie in this configuration, where someone would always end up going the wrong way at rush hour.
  23. I was at the Westin Phoenix a few weeks ago and was thinking this is what I'd like to see in Cleveland. Street level retail, a few stories of parking, 12 stories of hotel and some offices on top. Except in Cleveland I'd rather have residential condos up there (with balconies). http://www.hotel-online.com/News/PR2010_4th/Oct10_WestinPhoenix.html
  24. That may be contributing. But it's pretty common for morning traffic to back up past my building which is just beyond the older building in the foreground. So it is worse that usual, but not significantly worse. It most definitely is contributing. West Blvd is packed every morning now with commuters side-stepping north to the Shoreway to avoid the innerbelt.
  25. If they're not careful, Gilbert will just buy it for Phase II.
