Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Was this article posted yet? It's a lofty new view of the West Shoreway Historic former tool and die shop will become an apartment building in $10 million makeover By STAN BULLARD 4:30 am, August 25, 2013 Loft living will join with looks at the lakefront as a former tool and die shop along Cleveland's West Shoreway is converted to apartments in a $10 million-plus makeover. The property at 1260 West 76th Street is next to a recently upgraded pedestrian tunnel connecting West 76th to the beach at Edgewater Park. Construction is under way on the project, which involves a partnership that includes the building's owner, the Catanzarite family — the family behind Pat Catan's Craft Centers — Nationwide Insurance Co. of Columbus and Tracy Green, a founding principal of Ohio Realty Advisors in Richfield. I love it and always have. Just wonder if they shouldn't knock windows in that eastern facade? It's definitely not like all the others....

Why are young people driving less?
Excellent point on the Gold Coast. It's hard to believe with that much density in one place that the neighborhood doesn't DEMAND it.

Yes Sorry KJP. The Drug Mart between Marias and the 5 O'clock. I saw a sign there the other night when driving by, something about future home of "Value Time" (or something to that effect).

Why are young people driving less?
I own some rental units in the area and most of my tenants are males in late 20's early 30's. All but a couple reverse commute to jobs in the suburbs. At night they are on bikes though--riding to the bars in Detroit Shoreway & OC. As an aside, I was at XYZ last weekend and it gave me great pleasure to see a bicycle "gang" of 20 somethings departing the bar on two wheels heading for another. There must have been 20-30 all leaving at once.

On a side note--what is the store going into the old Drug Mart? Value-something? Certainly not inspiring for the future...

He should lose his job and retirement.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
The name change of an entire neighborhood is probably relevant to this thread (as a development), since the actual name of the thread would need to be changed to reflect the new neighborhood name...therefore relevant? People have opinions about the name change, but should we really make another thread to discuss it? So be it, if that is the case...but it seems to me like it fits here without another fragmented thread. I agree, since this "development" could impact the title of this thread. In this case development shouldn't mean bricks and mortar.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
I'm with Mendo on this. Think big--that's what Francona would do (hopefully!). I never believe in gambling on another teams fortunes. I'd rather us keep trying to win it all than settle for a one game playoff. You never know, an injury here or there or the Tigers could just go cold....

Tough to say, but I think you gotta root for the As. We still have a series against Detroit coming up and would love to see them gain some ground heading into that one.

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
Please select the correct answer: A. They are in bed with the oil, gas and construction lobbies. B. Trains are used in socialist countries and we can't have that, now can we? C. Trains are expensive, wasteful spending, unlike extra lanes and sound barrier walls. D. All of the above.

Why don't they combine the two names to "Gordon Shore?" I like the emphasis on the lakefront connection and hope it continues to grow! ;)

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Oops--I stand corrected. But you get my drift. Neighborhood connection connection connection. Cleveland never gets this right. I was considering a condo in Stonebridge, but ended up buying elsewhere because the neighborhood there is an island. We need to get that connected!

No fee for these. How do I sign up? I bet Kasich has these on his Buick Skylark!

Replacing the bridge with a river-level, pedestrian friendly lift bridge would do more for Wolstein's than anything since Mike White shut down the old FEB for him. Think of the potential growth in aparatments and condos if residents could actually cross the river without going up and around on a high-level bridge.

This is obviously the work of the Bay Bloods. One of the Crocker Park Crips insulted a Blood mom. Something about her 2004 Trailblazer. This spilled over into the school. Ugly!

In my mind this would be a perfect chance for a "public-private" partnership to allow for those residential floors to be built. Condos on top of there were sell well--I can imagine the attorneys buying there for the quick access to the courts!

The Giant Eagle on W117th is turning into a giant liquor store with self-service checkouts. No need to say more....

Why are young people driving less?
Great point--you can't really keep in tune to your phone while driving. Well, you shouldn't anyway....

If you ask me Giant Eagle is just as expensive. They have to afford to give "Fuel Perks" to people who believe they are getting something for free. In this case, crap ethanol gasoline!
