I found myself inexplicably more productive today with work than when UO is up and running. Hmmmm.....

That's a big deal- I'm hoping that the city by 2016 will have enough hotel rooms for the event. Forgive me for not tracking the numbers closely on the many lists on this site, but I would guess we would have to have quite a few more rooms than the last time the game played here in the 90's?

I work in the business, and I can tell you that Cleveland is a HUGE country market. WGAR consistently ranks amongst the top country outlets in the country. And for all the naysayers worrying about country fans coming coming downtown, the ONLY stadium shows at Browns Stadium in the last decade have been....country shows. 50,000 fans at a time! With this being said, I'm not a country fan (at least "new country" populated by three cords and tight wranglers). Give me Cash and Haggard and day. But I agree with the assertion that Toby Keiths will bring people not inclined to do so downtown. Especially if there is live music involved.

I hope I can forget Vick. He'd be too much of a distraction here. I can already here the "Dawgpound" references coming from the protestors.

I feel I must put in a plug for my neighborhood! If Lakewood is on your radar then also consider Clifton/Edgewater. It's a slightly shorter commute than Lakewood with lower taxes and great access to Edgewater Park, Downtown and the Gordon Square district. Also, beginning in 2013 Clifton Blvd is due to be reconstructed and returned to a boulevard rather than a 7 lane wide highway. This should increase the already decent walk-ability of the neighborhood. If you're looking to buy there are lots of historic housing options. I have seen in the past also some incredible rent deals from private owners in the stately homes of Lake Ave and Edgewater drive.

I think this is a sign they're going to a 3-4 defense. Watch them move Jabaal Sheard to OLB and maybe pickup an OLB in free agency. FYI, it's Buster Skrine. LOL had actually never seen it in print. Only listen to Browns coverage on radio. The Browns print coverage drives me crazy.

I'm all for new talent, but sorry to hear Frostee is going. Between he and Buster Screen I cannot get enough of Jim and Doug on the radio saying their names!

This is all seriously out of context. Throw in the Shoreway conversion to a 35 mph tree-lined bicycle-friendly boulevard and suddenly it would make more sense. But as a connection to an exit ramp, well then yes, perhaps the naysayers have a point.

Congratulations to the Baltimore Brown....errr I mean Ravens. Thinking about another Baltimore championship makes me sick to my stomach. What could have been....

Interesting how there was recently a big deal about connecting a rail line to the port, when once upon a time it looks like there were rails on every dock! I wonder why they tore them all out at some point without leaving a couple?

Amen! But will never happen. The only cities in North America that I can think of with this sort of arrangement (no freeways rammed straight through their hearts) are New York City (well Manhattan anyway) and Vancouver BC.

Just checked out the Heinen's facebook page. A woman asked about that site again yesterday. Here was the Heinen's response: "Heinen's Hi Nicole, although we are always looking for opportunities in the Cleveland area, there is nothing imminent."

I hope they budgeted enough to replace the 90 East sound barrier walls again in the near future. Can never have enough of those brand new walls! :-P

The graphs show a huge decline in the labor workforce since 2008; my assumption was that the region was doing better than what the numbers show when it comes to the size of the workforce and employment. Maybe it is some type of glich for the year... at least I hope it is. I think there needs to be more of a concerted effort from our elected officials to help entice businesses to the region. I don't know about everyone else, but I really get the feeling that Cleveland lost a bunch of people since 2008. It reminds me of when I was a kid and my friends would move away because their dads found construction jobs in Charlotte and Phoenix. I personally know 6-8 friends/couples that moved away in the past 4 years.

In college I worked behind the bar at a restaurant with an older guy who had been tending bar in Cleveland for 50 years. He told me 105/Euclid used to be like the Warehouse District in his days. He served lots of celebrities including Sinatra and the Rat Pack types. Would have loved to see Cleveland in her golden age!

So we can be as attractive to conventions as Chicago, Toronto or Calgary (where the temperatures at this moment are 8, 16 and 18F, respectively)? And between the three of these cities, there is collectively one dome--which I know many in Toronto, and even more so in Buffalo, are not terribly fond of beyond the engineering marvel that it is (was).

You label these "immaculate" facilities? Have you been to any of these stadiums/arenas? I have been to and inspected many arenas and stadiums/domes and let me tell you The Q and CBS are on par with any stadium outside of Dallas, Lucas and Phoenix Stadium. I haven't seen Phoenix in person. The problem isn't our stadium infrastructure it's the lack of hotel rooms. AMEN!!!!! Please Cleveland, do not fool ourselves into believing that if we build it, they will come. Let's focus on our strengths and get the hotel rooms built via our medical mart and the jobs and new economy it helps to establish in the 20th century. If that keeps growing, we'll stay on the map!

As a timely footnote: The San Francisco 49's are heading to their 6th Superbowl (they are 5-0). They play in the "not-so-California" elements in Candlestick Park. No dome. This is the Raven's second trip (1-0). Art Modell took our Browns team to Memorial Stadium in Baltimore, then moved into the also uncovered Ravens Stadium a couple seasons after.

Pipedream? That may be strong, but I don't think you're far off. Which is why I would want a GUARANTEE, in writing, of the marquee event(s), before we put a dime into covering the stadium. One Superbowl would cover it. We would need a hugely unified political and corporate community. And we would need the Browns back on the map. Thanks to all our Cleveland ex-pats the Browns are one of the most heavily supported in the entire nation. A winning Browns team would awaken the masses once more.
