What a concept! And let's hope it comes true!

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
I think putting a lid on CBS would stimulate development of the surrounding properties. If CBS gets a roof, then I think this creates a need for a convention-sized hotel. Stadiums are good for sporting events but not for all but the biggest of convention events. I would hope someone would do a cost analysis on this, or that the new ownership has the firepower to be guaranteed a big event like the Superbowl or Final Four.

Question? Did the Mayor, Governor or President declare this a natural disaster? And that's the difference. You and I both know that. That is why I asked Cleburger the question, in that manner. Question? Did the Mayor, Governor or President declare this a natural disaster? And that's the difference. You and I both know that. That is why I asked Cleburger the question, in that manner. Sorry I did not know that actually. I travel for a living and wasn't around when this happened. I don't think you have to resort to snarky comments though.

I'm no expert, but wouldn't there be some sort of Federal assistance available for damage caused by natural causes? If there are funds to replace a levee post-hurricane in New Orleans, or a freeway bridge post-earthquake in Los Angeles, why should our damages via natural causes be precluded?

There's not actually much traffic outside of rush hour.

Sounds like a good chance for KJP to get some facetime to promote our North Coast Cooridor service! :)

\ I'm sure there will be howls from commuters that use Chester from the Heights or parts east exit at the innerbelt and head west there.

Interesting. I would think Cleveland would have a similar number of rooms that a Charlotte has, but perhaps not Tampa?

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
Depends on your definition of high-speed rail. Here are the official definitions..... http://www.fra.dot.gov/rpd/HSIPR/ProjectFunding.aspx + New express high‑speed corridor services (operating speeds above 150 mph on primarily dedicated track) in select corridors of 200–600 miles. + Emerging and regional high‑speed corridor services (operating speeds up to 90–110 mph and 110–150 mph respectively, on shared and dedicated track) in corridors of 100–500 miles. + Upgraded reliability and service on conventional intercity rail services (operating speeds up to 79–90 mph). This is where the projects are happening (and aren't): http://www.fra.dot.gov/rpd/passenger/2243.shtml And this is what the projects are: http://www.fra.dot.gov/rpd/HSIPR/ProjectFunding.aspx The title of this map should be "Ohio stands in the way of progress." It's easy to see how in the 19th century Ohio became a powerhouse by connecting regions, via the rivers, lakes and canals. Now in the 21st century we have a chance to connect again, via already existing networks, and our governor turned it down. It just makes no sense.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Everywhere I've driven in the region CSU is featured on billboards, including places like downtown Buffalo. Cleveland is a big enough city to attract kids from small towns throughout the midwest, and CSU is using it's affordability to market itself well. West Virginia U in Morgantown has been doing the same thing for years--if you go there you see mostly New Jersey license plates since it's cheaper for NJ kids to attend school out of state there than pay in-state tuition back home.

Ahhhhh yes thank you. That completes my mental picture. Would have been pretty cool!

What is the full story on 1010 and the "Siamese twin"? I had heard that before and guess I always figured that was the case since that side of the building seems unfinished.

Or the feds would put "obligations" on the state, as we saw with our 20th century governor.

Yeah if you can get the tail number you can find out where it came from (unless the owner of the aircraft has it blocked with the site).

I wish them luck. With the Tea Party infiltrating Indianapolis the economic benefits bar is sure to keep moving higher.

Great to see her being restored! If they ever open for tours I encourage all UO's to attend to see the seldom-used additional theatres in house

CLEburger Borrowed from the local inclination to combine Cleveland with Pittsburgh. I'd like to fancy myself as the burgermeister of Cleveburgh.

There is so much potential east of the Missisisppi for investing in high speed rail. It's a shame that 50% of this county cannot see into the future. They worry about our grandkids paying the tab, but if we don't invest now the grandkids will be screwed.

It's not like any of these stores make emotional or gut instinct decisions. They are retailers, answering for the most part to public shareholders. Their site selections are based purely on demographic data, lease rates, etc. If there was a market in Cleveland, they'd be here. At one time a few worked Cleveland and Tower City into their equation. Now they don't fit. If we are on the fringe then that's where civic leaders, developers and the like can push them over the edge. But if there was a market, they would be building downtown.
