  1. How big of a deal would it be for the Post Office to complete this kind of land swap? And certainly public money would have to be put out to build a new facility in Brookpark? Not to mention the Postal Workers union would probably fight this tooth and nail and have to be compensated bigly to go along with this...
  2. Agreed. I think there are many misconceptions here on what would actually take the place of the stadium. It's not like a SIM city Chicago-like development would spring up over night. Best case scenario look at the Flats over the last 20 years--we may get a midrise surrounded by some low rise, low density buildings and a park. Worst case we get a suburban-lite development like Buffalo ended up with.
  3. I used one in London in December--it was quite convenient at least in the small "Go" format.
  4. Probably following up on the rumored "stadium island."
  5. We better hope the Twins are nearly as good as the pundits are saying they are! 😁
  6. Perhaps, but the stadium would be at the far western end of the redline. So rather than all lines feeding to a central location, you'd be putting pressure on the very end of the line. Good luck parking in one of those lots when the trains would be absolutely slammed coming from Windemere and Tower City. The Browns would have to put some practice squad linemen on the platforms at West Park and Brook Park to do the "Toyko shove" into the trains.
  7. How do you figure? At least downtown you have the terminus of all rail lines, and not just the red line, within walking distance of the stadium.
  8. There has been mention in Ken's an other articles that Haslem has had interest in a public/private situation for developing the land immediately surrounding the stadium. Let's face it--if there isn't a billionaire involved and it's just a bunch of citizens trying to recreate our own version of Navy Pier, the pocketbooks will close. Not true--the City of Cleveland levies a 2% non-resident entertainer and athlete tax.
  9. All very much apples-oranges in terms of economies. Your list is basically 8 of the top 10 metros in the country. Cleveland is down at #36, per the Wikipedia list consulted. A Brook Park stadium will definitely harm downtown and businesses, not only in terms of actual spending in restaurants, bars and hotels, but in the dollars attracted for other lakefront investment. There is no way a new shipping museum or Ferris wheel is going to steer federal, state and local money to the lakefront in the way that the active participation of an NFL team would. In addition, the city would be losing the revenue from the ticket sales as well as the income tax levied on the players salaries. And I don't care what the suburbanites on Facebook or Cleveland.com say, traffic will be 100 times worse getting to this site than a downtown site. You basically have 2 highways and a rail line, instead of multiple highways and rail lines. If they think it's bad now, wait until 70,000 people try to exit the same giant parking lot after drinking there all day.
  10. It does make sense on the surface from the Haslem's point of view. But it will be a huge nail in the coffin for downtown. And I agree it will be far-fetched to think that the stadium village on that site will be some sort of destination. It may be a novelty for a while, but then it will just be in the race to the bottom for the dollars of a dwindling population.
  11. Crocker Park isn't wedged between 2 highways, a rail yard and a busy Class B airport.
  12. You have to be able to see it from the Executive Suite in Mayfield Heights! 😐
  13. Hopefully Cleveland RTA can put something like this into play. it certainly makes boarding so much easier, especially for out-of-towners unfamiliar with the systems.
  14. She is very approachable and will respond to emails. We should also invite her to Urban Ohio.
  15. ah ok the wording of it sounded like a vacant lot. For sure would love to see Mancuso save it.
  16. They look better on TV. Blend in with Guardians gear.
  17. As i read it it looks like they are just selling the lot? They normally do rehabs of existing properties as far as I've seen.
  18. Found it here on the NEO Trans site for anyone interested: https://neo-trans.blog/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/LakefrontBypass-report-2003.pdf
  19. Wow. That poor kid...
  20. Might have been initially mentioned in the Cudell thread. Are there renderings of that anywhere? I can't seem to find any.
  21. Amazing that the line is 69 years old and the cars we ride on are 50ish?
  22. Cleveland had an Aragon Ballroom?
  23. Wow! I'm sure this will bring the NIMBYs out, but so nice to see something unlike most anything in Cleveland!
  24. Right which is why I would have preferred a 39 year old Flacco ...sadly
  25. I think some healthy competition wouldn't hurt Watson.
