Cleveland: Population Trends
It's crazy that rural America has signed on to the anti-immigration stances when they stand to benefit. The migrants are essential to farm labor. And on the other end of the spectrum, visa granted to higher educated doctors etc often come with strings attached that they have to practice in a rural, under-served community. (You'd be amazed at the great Indian restaurants out in the middle of nowhere that sprung up to feed Indian doctors and their families). Like most things MAGA, in the end they are voting against their own interest. 🤷♂️

2024 US Senate Race
With 8 days to the Ohio primaries I did not see a thread for the US Senate election in November. There are three Republicans running for the chance to unseat incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown (currently the only Democrat elected to statewide office in Ohio). The GOP Candidates: are Matt Dolan, Frank LaRose and Bernie Moreno. https://ballotpedia.org/United_States_Senate_election_in_Ohio,_2024_(March_19_Republican_primary) Currently Trump-endorsed Bernie Moreno is leading in polling against the other establishment Republicans. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/senate/2024/ohio/republican-primary/ Can Sherrod Brown pull this off?

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
I returned a car at the CLE consolidated facility this afternoon and wow is it getting tired. Restrooms were a mess, shuttle buses were dirty and falling apart, the roadway entering and exiting was crumbling. Worse yet, the dropoff point at the airport is made of orange barrels and yellow plastic chain. 🫣 This new airport plan can't come soon enough. I assume that's one of the reasons the City of Cleveland is letting the facility die a slow death...

Hell I watched some Tim Couch coverage from 2000 a couple weeks back and it might as well been from 1977!

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
I hadn't either. Makes for good marketing, as well as another argument for the extension of CVSR into downtown Cleveland.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University News & Info
I wonder if CSU could get their hands on an email list of ND students and make and offer to transfer?

Cleveland: Population Trends
I'd have to believe Ohio as a whole is tracking that way as we continue to lose young folks to the coasts.

Sure thing Rich--I can tell you I've gotten this screen in 4 different cities across the country this week.

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
What qualifications does one need. I know a certain Cleveland-based blogger, journalist and former rail advocate that most of us would put forward....

All Aboard Ohio
Sorry Brian I got jammed up with work this afternoon and not going to be able to make it down there. I look forward to the recap of the meeting.

I have a bookmark set up with a search for "Unread Content I Follow." Over the past week or so, it's become painfully slow. I can click around the site on other links and it's fast as can be--only the unread content seems to be slow. Anyone else seeing this?

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Star ratings are somewhat arbitrary and assigned by whoever is publishing the rating. I would agree with you that if it is a 5 star, it's a very low 5 star and probably a high 4 and many other websites.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
I've actually seen much less use of the rental services unless an artist is long-term in LA etc where very exclusive rentals are available. AirBnB and similar have too many privacy concerns as owners have cameras installed, etc. And true, often times an artist will hub out of a city and stay in the same hotel for weeks on end. Chicago is a perfect spot to tour the entire middle of the country and go home every night to the Peninsula or Four Seasons...

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Did they lose a star? At one point they used to be....I guess it depends on who you ask. But yes, they are as close as it comes--I believe still have 24 hour room service, maids etc.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Typically the Ritz since technically it's Cleveland's only 5 star hotel. For a while it was pretty run-through and I know some artists would stay at the 9 or Intercontinental. The the updated Ritz is really the best game in town.

Other States: Passenger Rail News
I took my first trip on the Brightline in Florida yesterday. Definitely impressed! It was clean, quiet and the stations included identical designs (at least in West Palm and Ft Lauderdale that I visited). Would love to see them expand into other markets that make sense. LA-Vegas should be a home run.

Airline Industry News and Discussion
PJ's regularly flirt with these speeds because they usually fly much higher than commercial traffic. I once took a G650 from Seattle to Minneapolis in 1:45.
