Cleveland Browns Discussion
Stefanski has done with practice squad players all year. Hopefully this kid from Detroit steps up along with them!

Cleveland Browns Discussion
It felt like it to me. 14-0 in the first quarter and it seemed like everything was in rhythm. At any rate, not worth risking injury with plenty of game left in week 16 and 2 more weeks to go. Hopefully he bounces back quick!

Cleveland Browns Discussion
All this makes me afraid for the playoffs, but hopefully it was an anomaly. As an aside, why is D-Hop trying to tackle a kick return when the Browns were destroying the Texans? Kickers should only do that in the playoffs or the Super Bowl where it's win or go home. Hopefully he will recover quickly but from what I read, he has had hamstring injuries in the past.

I was just about to ask to be reminded of how to change the site to "dark mode." I seem to remember a toggle but don't see one any longer.

Lorain County: Development and News
Hopefully the Bibb administration will be working the phones and not sleeping through this news as Frank Jackson would have. There should be an active pursuit of keeping them inside the city limits. There is plenty of land.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Yes they are allowed in--after sitting on traffic on the shoreway for an hour to get to the ramp to negotiate with the park rangers. And what about their guests?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Technically the park is open, you just can't drive to it. My house is in walking distance and I had sort of hoped for this kind of thing years ago when I bought it...just never expected it to the level it has become. 😃 On a side note, I'd be pretty miffed if I was a member at Edgewater, Whiskey Island or Olde River yacht club and couldn't get to my club or boat! I imagine a lot of members plan on spending nice weekends down there to avoid the mess.

Cleveland: Demolition Watch
Truly sad. I went to the estate sale and the bones of the house were amazing. For whatever the new owner is paying to tear it down and build new, they could have totally pimped out the existing structure. I partially blame the city of Cleveland, which allowed newer homes to built with a much further setback, blocking the views from this much older home.

The Rock Hall should, as well as Cleveland's world-renown record manufacturer, Gotta Groove, based right on Superior. https://www.gottagrooverecords.com

Anything less than a city street should just be buried under a cap (which is my preference). Even a city street would have a freight railroad running alongside it.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I just returned from an extended Europe trip. This wouldn't be a debate there because the government would just spend the money to tunnel the road under downtown and the river, leaving the land above for people and living. Here in the USA these kinds of infrastructure projects aren't even discussed....

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
If CLE is ever going to be a "big city" airport, then need to get the traffic situation fixed. This is from my arrival the other night at about 11:30 pm. Literally everyone just parks downstairs and blocks up the arrivals roadway. The resulting traffic was backed up way out onto 237. There was one CPD car sitting there with it's lights on, but as far as I could tell the officer was just keeping warm in his car.

Would the tube ops in Lorain be a good pickup for Cliffs?

Technically based in Luxembourg. Mittal was the Indian half of the company pre-merger.

Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway Megaproject
I'm sure it's probably the point of it. Some OK guys with money trying to show off for Texas. The real project will be 1/4 of the size.

Orange seats! 😜

Just got back from 6 weeks in Europe. I can report that retail there, including the pop up Christmas markets, is alive and well. Shopping malls were all packed. The complete demise of retail is definitely an American phenomenon (and the subject for another thread)- Cleveland: Downtown: Progressive Field
I don't disagree. And I'm sure the teams would much rather have a butt in every seat as well! But with the current Cavs and Guards offerings, it's doubtful.- Cleveland: Downtown: Progressive Field
Matching colors makes it easier to hide empties on game days. AT&T Arena in San Antonio famously used black seats with various colored ones mixed in as an attempt to look like people on TV.- Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
I agree 100%. I'm a Browns fan and my wife is a Bills fan. I don't hate the Bills, and of course their tailgating scene in the sea of parking lots in Orchard Park is legendary. But just the thought of driving there, parking in some guys muddy front yard, trudging to the stadium down a busy road past other muddy front yards filled with cards is not appealing. I'd much rather take the Red Line to downtown Cleveland, walk the bars or end up in the Muni Lot. PS--there have been several Bills fans hit by cars on the streets of Orchard Park after games in recent weeks. Hardly the kind of press the NFL wants.- Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Part of the problem with maintenance of such streetscape is with the lower level management and rank and file workers in the city maintenance departments. In Jenny's median example, it takes 3 departments to coordinate closing off traffic, trimming back the greenery, and picking up the waste (Streets, Parks/Rec and Refuse). None of them are very cooperative with the others, so it takes a herculean effort to get the most mundane tasks done. In addition to this, the workers unions, knowing there is no extra money laying around to negotiate for more than an annual COLA increase, come up with work rules that further erode productivity. For instance the workers tasked with cleaning up the medians have insisted on a shift that is typically 6 am-2:30 pm. But they will not head out on the streets in the dark during the winter months (for safety reasons, which is understandable). So during winter months, they show up at 6 and do nothing until at least 9 am, which is already pushing up on their first mandatory break pre-lunch. So not much gets done in the morning, then it's lunch, then it's time to head back to their base to put things away and change clothing. Just negotiating a reasonable shift time that works year round for daylight could boost the productivity of city workers, and save the city in OT during peak seasons. Bibb would most certainly encounter a huge amount of pushback with any such attempt.- Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
None in particular. I guess i'm the only one resentful of Frank Jackson's tax increase that promised more services but has failed to improve any. Thus far the Bibb administration seems to have inherited the mess and has not been able to crack the union bubble.- Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
The difference is Singapore probably employees people who are happy to have the job and proud of their work. Cleveland has hundreds of streets and parks & rec workers that barely put in 3 hours a day (if we are lucky). - Facebook
