  1. I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping you have some pictures to share from your childhood there of these great neighborhood assets!
  2. It will most definitely continue to be a huge issue in 2024. Brown will insist on it because he will need all the help he can get.
  3. I can imagine it for about 3-4 years, when the lack of maintenance and apathy of our city and county civil service union workers rears it's ugly head. A plaza full of pigeons, fast food wrappers and cigarette butts will replace it.
  4. Whatever it needs, the airport needs TLC. I flew in from a trip Monday night around 10 pm. Tiny, cramped bathrooms with urine all over the floor, escalators broken and when I went to leave and pay the garage the payment machine in my lane was not working. I was glad I didn't have luggage also as the pickup lanes downsstairs were complete gridlock with people parking to pickup passengers. It truly is embarassing especially now that even markets like Newark are getting nice shiny new terminals.
  5. Always impressive when standing there and feeling the vacuum created!
  6. Sending regrets! I'll be off to Europe for work. Enjoy! Hopefully there will be a holiday edition in late December?
  7. My memory is foggy of this as well, but I seem to remember the old Shorty's Diner was underneath it?

Yeah I've watched bits of the last two games, and they just seem so un inspired, at least in the 4th quarter. I'm also disappointed that Mobley hasn't added any body mass (though his stats thus far are great)
  9. Including doing said rennovations with only losing one season, as they did at Soldier Field. If you think about it, losing one season would give 20 months of construction time (with a few extra weeks if you played the preseason games somewhere other than the newly renovated CBS).
  10. I feel like it was closed down for a long time due to neglect and finally demoed with the construction of the Waterfront line. Perhaps @KJPhas a better memory than me of this?
  11. My history is someone limited to the last 4 decades, but I feel like the Indians/Guardians always prospered under a manager who already had some kind of connection to the team in the past. It's not a sexy market compared to some, and it takes a special kinship to flourish here. With this being said, who is our next Hargrove or Tito? I was hoping for Sandy Alomar but apparently he doesnt' like the pressure.
  12. London double deckers are 14'4", or higher than the US standard max of 13'6". With careful route planning certainly this could certainly be dealt with. There are also other manufacturers who make double deck buses that confirm to USDOT standards. Van Hool for instance is 13'1"
  13. There are 4100 permanent seats at Jacobs pavilion and a total capacity of 5000 with floor seating/GA. I'd love to see this pedestrian bridge that gives 100' vertical clearance! Or are you thinking a movable pedestrian bridge? Somehow I couldn't see Ohio spending any money on that.
  14. Confirmed. Looked to be a small guided missle frigate or destroyer docked just to the west of Browns stadium. I saw it on Sunday I believe.
  15. I wonder what the inside of that looked like after all these years...

Hopefully the family can find some contacts "on the inside" to dole out some prison shower justice.
  17. If you haven't voted yet, please get to it! It took me 15 minutes at the BOE on Euclid, including walking to/from my car. Fewer Ohioans have voted early so far ahead of the November election, but more have requested ballots COLUMBUS, Ohio – Slightly fewer Ohioans have voted early ahead of the Nov. 7 election compared to the state’s last election in August. But significantly more have requested absentee ballots, which eventually should translate to higher overall early voting totals. Through last Friday, which marked two weeks of early voting, 212,133 state voters had cast early ballots, either in person or by filling out and returning an absentee ballot. That’s about 3,600 less than the 215,759 who had voted by the equivalent time ahead of the election last August, according to a cleveland.com / Plain Dealer analysis of state voting data. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2023/10/fewer-ohioans-have-voted-early-so-far-ahead-of-the-november-election-but-more-have-requested-ballots.html
  18. I would love to be there but will be in Europe for work. Please post detailed notes!

Once you realize it's just a marketing ploy to sell more swag, it all makes sense. The NBA is definitely leading the way in staying cool with the youth culture.
  21. After years of the opposite, it is so strange to be on the beneficial end of some horrible officiating! Also, as I wait for a Monday morning @YABO713 blog post, i'm scratching my head that the so-called top defense in the NFL let the Colts put up 38 points and Gardner Minshew throw for more than 300. The good news is that Minshew is now 0-8 in games that he passed for more than 300 yards.
  22. Do railroads still compete in the freight game? Could their be business in moving shipments for Amazon and other e commerce distributors that need quicker service than freight rail can provide?
  23. A smaller scale version of this would be AMAZING at the old Burger King site at Lake/Detroit in Cleveland!
  24. I'm sure it has as much, if not more to do with Cleveland residential construction economics than Burke. You could build across the street from the stadium up to 200' high per the FAA CFR. Because of the location the FAA would have to review no matter what, but a developer could, if they chose, petition for a height variance and exceed the limit.
  25. I doubt Cincinnati loses many shows at all to proximity. Even if it did, there is a good chance the promoter putting a band in Dayton is the same putting one in Cinci (Live Nation), so they wouldn't care. *Maybe* like 20 years ago a band playing X fest in Dayton might have had to sign a proximity rider to skip Cincinnati. But it rarely happens, if at all. The number one thing keeping bands away is avails for the buildings that work with a bands routing.
