Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
You can check the calendars of domed stadiums as well. They are just as bleak. Not much market for a space that size. The occasional "novelty" event shows up on a calendar for those attached to convention centers, like a barmitzvah or wedding.

NBA: General News & Discussion
Ja Morant suspended again for flashing a gun on Instagram live. The incident is causing a debate online about the different treatment of white vs black celebrities open carrying.

We went out to Blue Point last night--it was such a magnificent view looking out at our newest addition!

Ohio Transit Funding
I wonder how the compensation compares to ODOT's "Director of Freeway Median Mowing" 😀 The ODOT website's "Who we are" is telling. Only mentions highways and roadways.... Who We Are: The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) oversees building and maintaining the nation’s 5th largest interstate system and the 2nd largest number of bridges. We take pride in providing safe and efficient roadways for the people of Ohio and to the people traveling within our great state.

Maybe they'd be more supportive if you randomly put different aluminum siding on these, enclose a couple of the balconies and put out orange cones in a few parking spots to claim them for yourself!

Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
Why does it have to be "all or nothing" in Cleveland? Let's develop the area around the Stadium into a vibrant walkable neighborhood. Let's add a greenway around Burke to connect it to Gordon park. In the meantime Burke should be invested in as an net economic positive to the city. If, and when, the hundreds of surface lots and acres of urban prairies are filled in someday in Cleveland, then Burke can be addressed. We like to bulldoze everything in sight and wait for some magic SIM city thing to happen. That is not reality in Cleveland unfortunately.

Either STJ or Triskett should be something RTA is openly discussing with Greyhound. I fear the worst of a bench on Brookpark road however...

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Ok cool--yes I use it for fares, and just figured out how to set up service alerts on there. It is showing the Red Line shuttle buses from the airport to Puritas, which is what I wanted to confirm.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Question for Cleveland transit gurus--what is the BEST source of current route status? I check on the RTA website and it doesn't seem remotely accurate. For instance, no mention of any Red Line service problems here: https://www.riderta.com/riders-alerts

Ohio GOP / Republican Party
Chicago and NYC metros are growing slightly or remaining stagnant, leading one to believe this is the MAGA types leaving the more rural areas of downstate IL and upstate NY.

Ohio GOP / Republican Party
Anecdotally from my son's junior-senior year housemates (4 guys) 1-San Francisco 1-Washington DC 1-Back to Cleveland 1-Chicago (my son) Will they ever return? Maybe. But in talking to them they are moving for robust tech economies, public transit and general tolerance.

Ohio GOP / Republican Party
12,000 young folks graduated from Ohio State yesterday at the Shoe. The Ohio GOP is up the street chasing most of them to the coasts. Truly shameful.

US Economy: News & Discussion
I disagree. Sometimes a quick phone call can clear up a lot of confusion with texts and emails--especially when there are a large portion of our adult population who struggle with written communication skills. As an aside, I have to compliment everyone here on Urban Ohio. There is rarely someone here contributing where I'm scratching my head saying "WTF does he mean?" Not true in my daily work life....

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
I've made this argument weeks ago upthread. We all know public money will be used in some capacity. We might as well see it benefit the community as a whole and not just people who use the stadium. It's a good argument for keeping the stadium on the lakefront and investing in mixed uses around it.

So much nicer than worrying about tampons or cans of Bud Light! Go Sherrod!

Cleveland: Mayor Justin Bibb
Certainly the squeaky wheel gets the grease! The more you show your face around the people that matter, the more they will remember you when decisions are handed down. I may be wrong, but I don't ever remember Frank Jackson making these sorts of trips to rub elbows with the Feds.

With the advent of LED's, this would be a temporary position leading to minimal maintenance once all incandescent lighting is replaced.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
A lightly-loaded 747 like a private Saudi royal aircraft can be received or take off from CLE. Same with diverted aircraft--they arrive low on fuel and just take on enough to make it to Chicago, etc. A fully loaded long-haul commercial variant might need extra runway for safety factors, especially on a hot day.

I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait to see those windows lit up at night! I've been driving by that bricked-up building for decades!
