Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
I hate the investment in Berea for this reason as well. Move all the offices and training facilities downtown. If tax dollars are going into the stadium, then all the payroll taxes for the team should go to the city and the employees can dine and work in the new neighborhood on the lakefront!

Also Earth Day, so everyone bring a bag and clean up some litter :)

More precisely, when a fat cat in a position of power gets cited, he wants to do away with it. Case in point--Linndale handed out tickets on their little patch of I 71 for years, until a state rep got a ticket and decided to introduce legislation to kill their speed trap, cameras and even the mayor's court.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I believe the Tokyu cars on the Buffalo system have mechanical stairs that extend for street level/low platform boarding as well.

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
I was just talking about cranes. The last time I was there in March i stopped counting at 25.

Cleveland: West Side Market News & Info
The problem with these kinds of council pet-projects is once the AARP funding is gone, they have to go back to find a new well to keep it going. At least the WSM is an investment in the city that will provide lasting benefits, employment and future tax dollars. As an aside, I'd love to see what Councilman Griffin has laying around for street repairs that they sit on while constituents tires and rims get blown out.

Love the Sherwin Williams crane in the background! It's like our own little Nashville!

Cleveland: West Side Market News & Info
I saw a blurb on a neighborhood Facebook last night that this is not said and done. Blaine Griffin is apparently still fighting spending on the market. However, I can't find the article now to verify.

I never speed in the city. Only out in the hinterlands when by myself. Not worth the risk in any heavy traffic. But get me out on the 90 in Northeast PA on the way to Buffalo, and I don't mind cruising at 90.

Totally understand (and think the officers deserve it). I'm just going off what I was told back then. Good to know that my next ticket I might not be so lucky.

Even for a speeding ticket? I wonder if it was different in the early 1990's as well... At any rate, very good info--thanks!

Red-Light Cameras
In my youthful and freewheeling days of my 20s, I once managed to get 3 speeding tickets within a 10 day period (2x from the same officer on 480, 1x on the innerbelt downtown). I went to court for all three, and all three were dismissed due to prosecution lack of witness. I learned later that CPD officers only get OT in court for felony cases. Not sure if this is true. @KFM44107could maybe corroborate?

Cleveland: Transit Ideas for the Future
@KJP, things seemed to have picked up on the line. Just a casual observation, but I've seen 2 trains through on it in the last 12 hours (including the one that woke me up at 3 am! )

But it's technology...something we all submit to for highway tolls, airport screening, ordering coffee, etc... The court has a photo of your car and license plate running the red light with a time stamp. Of course some rich guy could pay his lawyer to challenge ever little aspect of the technology in court, but if the end result is fewer people running lights, less accidents, injuries and deaths, isn't that a net positive?

I do hope something similar can be constructed on the George property across the street, rather than a single level restaurant with a parking lot...

Cars & Vehicles Discussion (History, etc)
Requirement of a CDL is typically dependent on weight (which is befuddling to me). Here are Ohio's limits: https://www.transportation.ohio.gov/working/publications/os-8

I'd love to see them back in Cleveland, where some folks have decided red lights are optional.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
Attendance must be down already as the Guards are offering upper deck tickets for $11 against the Yanks this week. Hopefully they keep up these promotions to get people to come out. https://www.mlb.com/guardians/tickets/single-game-tickets?partnerId=zh-20230409-875355-CLE-1-A&qid=18&utm_id=zh-20230409-875355-CLE-1-A&bt_ee=zQ0fEY0aIRxmgv7Yg%2BTVS2ZD8PWk0tkGayNa%2Fo1ipCZkp4HWttw54AiDGPI561Ah&bt_ts=1681056220140#game=718637,718626,718604

Vanderbilt and it's $11b endowment doesn't hurt the city. It's a leader in the south in medicine and tech.

Berea is not Frisco. And to keep with this thread, if public money is being used, why not move the Browns offices, training facilities and spin off mixed use development all around the stadium. It would fit nicely on "The Pit"

Interesting indeed seeing how it barely ever flies. I imagine the Signature fuel bill is just something slipped through the bureaucratic cracks.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I had no intention of slander! :) I know nothing of the service--just wasn't a fan of the plastic tube shelters! I can only imagine if RTA was tasked with maintaining those!
