  1. I had no intention of slander! :) I know nothing of the service--just wasn't a fan of the plastic tube shelters! I can only imagine if RTA was tasked with maintaining those!
  2. Of all places. Curitiba. I guess it depends on your definition of "working well." I just hope he doesn't try to put in the plastic tube shelters like Curitiba as well.
  3. This seems like another one of RTA's many oversights. They way current ridership looks, we don't need seating for more people. And on the heavy ridership days (Browns etc), we need more standing room. It seems like a no-brainer to go with the lateral benches in our market.
  4. Sacramento is booming in the post-pandemic world now as well! I was just there and there were apartments and condos being built everywhere!
  5. This one with the Greyhound station gets me! It's crazy the amount of density that used to exist on Payne, Superior and St Clair back then. Somewhere in this thread there are other photos looking east from downtown and it definitely looks like Cleveland was once the nation's 5th largest city!
  6. I thought the show was tomorrow night (April 5)
  7. What's the opinion on the Siemens cars? They seem to the "Chevrolet" of light rail worldwide. I guess it's good we are not getting some oddball manufactured cars for the next 40 years?
  8. Yes he did, which is what got me thinking about it. If there is going to be public money on the lakefront, it would be great to get some of it back via payroll taxes...
  9. I stand by my assertion that this is our best bet at something game-changing on the lakefront. If we can get the NFL and Browns to foot part of the bill, it's that much more we'll be getting. On a related note, what's to keep the Browns from moving their practice facility to the stadium? The outdoor fields could become public parks on the 250+ days a year the Browns are not practicing. Plus, the City of Cleveland would get all the payroll taxes!
  10. Tiny violins for these two suburbs....

I was just in Truckee/Tahoe a few days ago and the amount of snowfall is incredible! Several ski resorts there already advertising July 4 skiing. Hopefully a bunch of that melt ends up in resevoirs!
  12. I'm not far up the road from you if you ever need a ride and I'm in town. The 4:30 am Cleveland uber scene is not robust!
  13. It also helps that the Bills are the only NFL team that actually plays in New York.
  14. Not sure who old you are, but It wasn't that long ago that Ryan air literally had plastic seats and the overhead bins were covered with ads like a subway car. The first time I flew them in the early 2000's, this is what it looked like. I paid £10 for a flight from Belfast to London, then it cost another 200 quid to check a bag! As more European airlines got in the low cost game they had to quickly upgrade their cabins and do away with this nonsense....
  15. Gonna be nice with the couple cranes showing off for the Cavs playoffs run!
  16. 18 year old kids in the army are in a very controlled environment, with rigorous training and oversight. They aren't normally sent into the streets and forced into life or death situations without supervision.
  17. I would actually love to see another Bridgeworks-style tower on this site with restaurant/retail and connections to the park. It would nicely frame the approaches to the DS bridge.
  18. I don't think this would happen in the USA even if Cleveland had a population of 20 million. We can't even build new tunnels into Manhattan.
  19. What makes this different or dense than most any other lots in the neighborhood, other than the auto court in the rear puts all the car traffic out of site?
  20. Maybe we can convince both mayors to come to the next UO happy hour and trade notes.

Damn. I wish your wife would reconsider! That would be amazing.
  22. I wish I were. We'll find out again the next time Cleveland gets a bad winter. After several years of FAA control and extra scrutiny, they are giving the City free reign again. I'd personally take my chances with a new government body and lose all the Frank Jackson patronage lackeys.

Lake House was the one I was thinking of. I didn't realized they had closed, but according to Google they have.
  24. The City of Cleveland should be forced to give the Airports to the Port Authority and clean house. The inmates took over during the Jackson administration and don't want to give it up.
