There used to be a restaurant on that section of Edgewater. Has it closed down?

Cleveland: Parking Meters
I'm out in LA and in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, the meters take coins, card or an app. It's really the best of all worlds.

Cleveland: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
It looks like Willie told his manager and agent that he would only do 3 weeks of touring, with a break built in, and no long drives. Much easier to pull off on the east coast. Also Gilford NH draws from the Boston market.

Cleveland: Historic Photos
In high school me and a couple friends used to put on nice clothes and hang out in the lobby of the Stouffer's hotel and drink. Was never carded once. I think the waitresses assumed if we were in there listening to piano jazz, we must have been old enough!

Personal Finance / Investing Thread
No judgement here. i'm guilty once in a while. But Taco Bell is STUPID expensive compared to what I remember back in college. I've the same thing for 2 decades and it's gone from like $7 in total to $23.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Left to our own devices, it would take until we are all dead and gone to fully realize just #1. Short of this, I feel like a new Browns stadium is our best chance for a game changing lakefront development of any magnitude. The NFL and Browns are stakeholders with pockets deep enough to gain significant short-term traction.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
I would concur with your assessment. Especially in a climate like Cleveland with wind and snow load factors to consider.

Cincinnati: Potential New Arena
I've been in every arena in the country, and there are some very fine buildings that do not have major league tenants in them. Omaha, Wichita and Sioux Falls come to mind. Kansas City of course too, but Sprint Center was built thinking they were definitely going to get an expansion team there.

Columbus: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
I love these kinds of rock journalist lines! While technically correct, the local band will likely be playing at 11:30 in the morning, while Dave Grohl and Gene Simmons are still sleeping away in their hotel rooms in Chicago. 😂

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
Ohio should be studying NC. We're already sent lots of our residents there, including most of my family!

Ohio Congressional Redistricting / Gerrymandering
The only difference in your example would point out is 40 years ago the Democrats held majorities in the numbers of registered voters, as well as the number of votes received. So the representation was at least proportional. Today the GOP uses the tactics to maintain it's minority rule. Democrats still hold an advantage in registered voters and often receive more statewide votes, but the districts ensure a healthy GOP majority.

Remote Work
My wife is in sales management with a fortune 500. company, and is almost 100% remote to this day. She complains that since the pandemic and the advent of remote work, it seems like everyone tries to fill their daily calendars with calls so if the boss looks at it they appear busy. The problem is it leaves her little time to do the other aspects of her job when she is stuck on calls 8-9 hours a day.

Speaking of the ATM, banks have been trying to get rid of tellers completely since their inception. The consumer feedback has been severe, and in recent years we've seen banks ADDING human-staffed retail locations in places like grocery stores and gas stations to respond to their customers needs.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I feel like the Browns and a new stadium could be the impetus for other things the denizens of this forum desire...new Amtrak station, land bridge and lakefront access. We should all be pushing for the synergy.

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
On a related note, in my Edgewater the city installed the ADA compliant ramps on the sidewalks which is great. The only problem is many of the sidewalks themselves are impassable for wheelchairs due to old sandstone shifting. I guess this is use-it-or-lose it fed money, so the CLE bathrooms must be elevated!

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
This could probably go in any number of threads: Public meeting scheduled March 7 to address physical isolation of Lakeview Estates caused by West Shoreway CLEVELAND, Ohio — Residents of the Lakeview Estates public housing complex on the city’s West Side have suffered for decades from dust and fumes generated by 500 to 1,000 trucks a day rumbling through their community on the way from Whiskey Island to regional highways. Adding a psychic dimension to one of the city’s longest-tolerated examples of environmental injustice is that Lakeview has been walled off from the rest of Ohio City to the south by the elevated western portion of the Shoreway, built after World War II. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2023/03/public-meeting-scheduled-march-7-to-address-physical-isolation-of-lakeview-estates-caused-by-west-shoreway.html

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
The only problem with these other sites is if there is going to be public money (and let's face it, there will be "some" public money), then the covered stadium should at least be attached to the convention center, which makes. the lakefront site ideal. Full disclosure--you'll see me arguing for years on these forums that a domed stadium doesn't really bring much to the convention table. But at least the option would be present for the once every 10 years event that could utilize the space. Plus, if we built it there smartly and included mixed use development, lakefront public space, a new Amtrak station, etc, it's a net win for the region.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
If we want to see a true "mixed use" facility, no better way than having the local NBC affiliate attached ot the stadium, along with other offices, retail, apartments and public spaces. Maybe downtown Cleveland could finally get some condos with Browns fans buying at the stadium. They could put windows onto the field like the hotel at the Rogers Center in Toronto. Tailgater heaven!

Meh while I like it downtown, should we really be concerned with a building that gets used 10 days a year?
