This is what happens when decisions are made by a mid level manager with an MBA looking at spreadsheets. They have no connection to the community. Everything is a projection or forecast of what could be....

Most people in Northern Ohio have never heard of it. The only reason I know about Lake Erie is my father did his MBA there at night back when it was an all girls school, but the afterhours grad school did allow men.

And one of the reasons I don't fly Southwest. Years ago I spent extra on a business-select flight out of Midway. When I boarded the aircraft, there were only middle seats left despite being the first one on board. When I called Southwest to complain about the extra fare getting me nothing but my first choice of middle seats they really didn't care. Have never been back since, unless it's a short hop like Burbank-Vegas.

As an aside, I feel like most of the containers come and go via trucks. I've never seen any being loaded on rail cars there. It must mean that most of them are smaller shipments and going to relatively "local" destinations?

Yes but for a small airport like Cleveland, you should do everything in your power to make it more convenient and marketable. A rattly bus on roads that feel like Eastern Europe is no way to begin your visit to Cleveland.

I'm hoping for the best of course. I do hope that Ohio would have some autonomy over scheduling. Part of the success of the service in states like North Carolina is customizing schedules based on events in Charlotte etc. I have friends that travel Raleigh-Charlotte every Sunday for Panther's home games. With Columbus in the middle, it would be great to tailor some scheduling to Cleveland, Cinci and Dayton Ohio State fans, as well as the other way for Columbus residents wanting to attend events in Cleveland and Cinci.

I travel(ed) extensively in Ukraine, the former Eastern Block and even deep in Russia and would agree with this assessment. As incomes have risen there is a demand for gleaming new towers, just like anywhere else in the world. These tend to be in the major and second tier cities. Further to @westerninterloper's question, the vast majority of the populations still live in Soviet era housing, just due to the sheer numbers. If you travel the villiages of Russia, like those along the Moscow-St Petersburg high speed rail line, you would even see that a large swath of population still live in PRE-Soviet era housing.

This may also have something to do with people who drive huge pickup trucks and SUVs do not know how to safely handle their vehicle in snow and somehow thing because they are big and 4 wheel drive that they can do whatever they want. While it's not shocking since the majority of Americans never see, let alone drive a stick shift car, I'm amazed at the number of people who only use "D" on their automatic transmissions. I still drive my car like a manual (8 speed automatic), and more so in snow and ice conditions.

Also unclear is how many of these vacancies are street cops and how many are administrative positions. I do like that he is shrinking other bloated city departments. The services in the city are as bad as ever. Someone needs to do a housecleaning and start over with people who actually care and want to improve their city.

I don't hate this idea. Im sure plenty could still go wrong, but it's better than sending the likes of Jim Jordan to Congress.

Walked around 2 in Manama, Bahrain earlier this morning. Are Americans with all their guns and big pickup trucks really afraid of some loud African American teenagers? If so we are truly a sad society.

Does it bother any of us that this is only happening in America? Elsewhere in the world retail is still thriving in many ways. Malls still exist, sometimes in multiple locations within blocks of each other. Retail in city centers is still bustling and thriving. What is it about America that is making us not want to leave our houses and spend time together to buy things needed in life?

Another giant step backwards for CLE. We will likely never get another on-property airport hotel with the ability to be directly connected to the terminal.

The wife and I saw they were in town and on a whim decided to grab a couple tickets on Seat Geek. What a mistake. While it was great to have a night out at the RMFH, we had to endure the GS bench owning the Cavs, and an arena full of bandwagon Dubs fans cheering them on.
