If we thought the cell phone conspiracy theories were bad with 5g, I can't wait for 6!!! 😜
  2. I just returned from 10 days in Europe which always makes these kinds of conversations more perplexing. Is this what America has become? Are we THAT afraid of ambulance-chasing lawyers? Amsterdam was a beautiful cacophony of pedestrians, bicycles, buses and trams, all managing to co-exist without jersey barriers or bollards? Why is it so hard here in the USA?

Glad to see some things benefitting all Americans getting done by the adults in the room!
  4. Perhaps this is what you've seen in Peru due to local tax laws, but I can tell you from traveling through most of the developing world, including the favelas of Brazil, that many of these unfinished buildings are purposely built to this end, with an eye towards the future. https://www.archdaily.com/531253/case-study-the-unspoken-rules-of-favela-construction
  5. This kind of construction in developing generations is often multi-generational. They are purposely built to expand upward as the family grows and can afford more, or expands via marriage, etc.
  6. Where does he live?
  7. More likely in Ohio or Kentucky, a Dollar General was close by....
  8. Good morning from Basel Switzerland. I was thinking of Cleveland and our many sidewalk closings during major construction projects while walking about this morning. Here in Switzerland, they maintain the roadway, the sidewalk, and even built a outdoor cafe setting for the coffee shop onto the base of the crane!
  9. It appears to be a passenger train. Which one was this?

Best wishes to everyone in 2023. Looking forward to a few new towers in Cleveland, always the gifts that keep giving!
  11. Do Birdsong or the RTA board ever get to answer questions from reporters on these tough topics? Are reporters asking the questions? It seems like this entire region has devolved into just shrugging our shoulders and expecting mediocrity.

Interesting animation of the record-setting seiche event happening as I type this on Lake Erie. There is approximately a 20' difference in lake level between Toledo and Buffalo! https://www.glerl.noaa.gov/res/glcfs/anim.php/?lake=eri&var=zeta
  13. If I only had a billion dollars--I would cut a bunch of canals through the Scranton peninsula and make it into our own little Amsterdam.....
  14. As a child Franco was the enemy. The Steelers were on their way to 4 Superbowls, and the Browns were, well the Browns. I have many childhood photos of me in Dallas Cowboys gear because I rooted for Staubach, Dorsett and Pearson to beat up on the Steelers. With this being said, Franco was an all time great and the immaculate reception will stand in the top of all NFL legacy plays. RIP and condolences to the Steeler nation.
  15. I am a hard maybe now as well--have events switching around later in the week because the local forecasters are scaring everyone. Will depend on how much work I have left to do later this afternoon

This ought to stir up some good hateful GOP rhetoric in the legislature!
  17. I do hope he can keep up the style of work he achieved in U circle.

The ties bother me less than the nebulous "extra time" for injuries etc.
  19. From your questions I guess it's safe to assume that Fox 8 did not ask any of them?
  20. How about an Ohio attracting immigrants program to fill some of our job openings instead of chasing them all away to the coastal cities?
  21. United bumping up Boeing! United announces largest widebody aircraft order ever placed by a U.S. carrier CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — United Airlines today announced the largest widebody order by a U.S. airline in commercial aviation history: 100 Boeing 787 Dreamliners with options to purchase 100 more. United expects to take delivery of the new widebody planes between 2024 and 2032 and keeps the right to choose among the 787-8, 9, or 10 models. https://www.airlinerwatch.com/2022/12/united-announces-largest-widebody.html
  22. Woudl love to hear some backstory on these--and this one in particular. Where did this line lead?
  23. I'm not worried about it I could probably be there by 6 pm...just wondering for the others what the "planned" time was. There is always the option of the beer flowing and getting kicked out when the lights come on... 😜
