Airline Industry News and Discussion
I've only taken a 380 once--from Heathrow to Singapore. I would agree with your assessment. I sat up top in front of the engines. It was so quiet it was almost unnerving.

It's all about the clicks.

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
The third lane also offers an additional width of concrete for someone to do 50 MPH in a 65 zone, right in front of me. 🤔

NFL: General News & Discussion
Just like his Browns comeback against the Jets in 2018, it's all downhill from here!

I just took her from SFO to FRA back in May. Glad I got one more ride!

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Are the Toledo Metroparks employees non-union like ours here in Cuyahoga County? This seems to mean a difference in a huge quality gap in terms of maintenance.

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
Wouldn't this shave hours off the Chicago-NYC routes? Or will the tracks not handle it?

Cleveland: Downtown: New Police Headquarters
Ahhhh...my head went to a police helicopter "overhead." But I know from being around Burke the CPD bird rarely flies....
-
Cleveland: Downtown: New Police Headquarters
Sorry @KFM44107I don't understand. Maybe i'm reading this wrong? Can you elaborate?

Cleveland: Downtown: New Police Headquarters
I don't understand this. Even if they sited the new HQ at 21st and Payne and there was a call necessitating use of the innerbelt ramps, they'd had to drive the 4 blocks to get to the same situation. But it doesn't matter anyway as this is the Police HEADQUARTERS and zone cars will not be dispatched from here. I agree with your thinking on the old station though. I'd like to see a mid-rise building constructed next to the historic structure.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: New Police Headquarters
I actually had some wishful thoughts if sometime in the future there might be some DHS funding to cap this section of the innerbelt to separate it from the CPD station.

As a 24/7 operation will be great to see those windows lit up all night long!

Buffalo Central Terminal ruins
Actually Buffalo is way further along than Cleveland. My list of reasons: Buffalo is smaller and the white flight not as extreme Buffalo identifies as east coast, and is *slightly* less segregated than midwestern cities in Ohio. Buffalo's corporate community is EXTREMELY involved in the city. There is barely any event in Buffalo that doesn't have some kind of major corporate backing.

Buffalo Central Terminal ruins
Such a beautiful old building. I was rooting for the Bills to site their stadium here and rehab this terminal as a part of a football village. Alas they are going to stay in the burbs out in Orchard Park.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
IIRC from my time at CSU, RT is packed with asbestos. I wonder if re-cladding it would make it easier to remediate this?

US Economy: News & Discussion
Seems like a risky tactic around Black Friday when middle aged parents are just looking to buy regular ole sneakers for their college aged kids.

US Economy: News & Discussion
I've already been seeing the talking heads debating the strength of the economy as it pertains to Black Friday and holiday shopping. As someone who participated today both at brick and mortar stores and online, all I can say is the retail industry is ill-prepared for this. Cashiers are not trained in the stores, and no one knows where anything is. I got the sense that these people were hired yesterday and thrown to the wolves for Black Friday. After giving up on that, I returned home to shop online for some things for my kids, and encountered website glitches all around. Even worse, the ENTIRE Nike website and ordering system is down today (couldn't order via web or phone). How can a multinational company like Nike have their entire system go down on a day like this? I'm sure they'll blame Joe Biden....

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
If RTA is anything like the city of Cleveland, most of the management is not what they know, rather who they know. So they are not very effective managers. I fear any kind of bonus system would turn into a kickback system.

They sort of are one-in-the-same :)

Northeast Ohio: Regionalism News & Discussion
Out of curiosity, did Chris Ronayne have any official position on consolidation? I agree that there is so much the region could benefit from. Would love to see a county wide refuse and recycling pickup, but I'm sure all the employees in the little fiefdoms (lead by Cleveland) would fight against losing their jobs.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Alright UO which one of you was it? 😜 There's one way to keep the opposing offense from running all over us....

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
I don't disagree, however once again apples to oranges. The theatres of Playhouse Square were designed as such. Public Hall wasn't designed as an arena in the modern sense, and it may be physically impossible to make it so. There are things to be done that could make the entire complex (Public Hall, Music Hall and Little Theatre) more competitive. The first thing I would do is get rid of the City of Cleveland as managers. No matter how many modern amenities are added, the complex will never be fully utilized when it is booked by a city employee sitting at their desk 7 hours a week waiting for the phone to ring. Back to CSU and my opinion that we should keep the Wolstein, and actively market it as a sound stage/rehearsal facility going forward.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
I'm not sure her old bones would support a 100,000lb + show. They would likely have to construct a sub-grid inside the building, which won't happen in a historic structure (nor should it)
