  1. It's hard to change someone's mind when they don't even understand what it is they're fighting against. Believe me, I try. Most of them hear "tax abatement" and think there is no tax paid at all for 15 years, rather than the lack of tax on the "improvements."
  2. This all is reasonable. I'd just be happy if the neighborhood NIMBY's would even bother to educate themselves on it!
  3. I'm about to vote with my feet. Ohio is really going downhill as the Trumpism takes over.
  4. Leftover Frank Jackson syndrome. It's going to take a while to work it's way out of the culture. Jackson was just being handled by his corporate interests trying to get transit out of the square and turn it into their own little Crocker Park.
  5. Touche! Or Touch....? 🤣
  6. Well right now he looks like a whiny, petulant child and not a leader. I was pro-Baker up until the last few months when the social media stuff started to come out of him. I suppose we should have known this when he planted the flag at the Shoe.
  7. These guys all have such fragile egos. Baker should show up and act like HE is the starting quarterback. It might go along way for him as other teams keep a watchful eye for a potential trade.

I somehow think Trump won't withdraw his endorsement, despite this news.... Heil, mein Führer!
  9. What additional space is needed? Hopkins currently has way more capacity than is needed for current operations. Like everyone rushing to close Burke Lakefront, we may not understand what we have until it's gone. Yes the current airport hotel may be outdated and in need of rehab, but once again it's something that most cities our size do not have. We should be embracing it and promoting it, both for the airport, conventions and future rail links. If we tear it down, we'll never get it back. I can tell you as a road warrior (200+ days of travel a year) that I would book an on airport hotel any day over an airport 2 miles up the road with a shuttle.
  10. Where are the unions representing the hundreds of jobs directly involved with the daily operation of our rail system? They should be out there daily on the forefront brining attention to the matter. Instead they are behaving just like RTA management, content to collect their dues until it's too late.

I believe you are correct. In this article with the Jewish Insider, Dolan says he's Catholic. Dolan: It definitely had to do with my Catholic faith and listening to my mother and my sister talking about the issue with me, and maybe even more personal: My son’s mother and my wife at the time, we had a miscarriage, and that had a dramatic impact on me as to what life really means. https://jewishinsider.com/2021/09/matt-dolan-walks-an-uncharted-path-in-ohios-republican-senate-primary/

One of the craziest things I've seen with my involvement with the city of Cleveland is the shift hours. For instance, Parks & Rec or Streets may have a 6 am-2:30 pm shift. So for half the year the city workers show up at 6 am, then sit there for 2 hours waiting for the sun to come up before they even think about doing anything. I'm sure the union would fight tooth and nail to change this, but it seems like a reasonable way of improving productivity.
  13. Awful news. Cleveland is but a handful of airports in the country with a hotel directly on property. The only thing that was missing was a direct connection via a walkway to the terminal. The city, county and port authority should step in to figure out some sort of public/private financing to rehab the hotel, build a new long term parking ramp next to it and move the rental car facility into the current short-term garage.
  14. This will happen with any drain when zero money and effort is investing into cleaning the outside of the property. At the risk of sounding like an old man, this is a huge complaint of mine with all businesses today: for some reason they don't send their employees outside to clean anymore. The Starbucks by me is disgusting around the outside of the store. Trash is all over the lot, landscaping littered with cups/wrappers--and I've NEVER seen a barista outside with a broom and a dustpan. This used to be commonplace, especially at fast food restaurants and gas stations. Now you never see them outside.
  15. If it were 1983, I'd say this is an Arthur Treachers. Since it's not, I'll go with a Panda Express....
  16. I heard through a friend that Good Company in Battery Park is also going to get a feature on an episode.

This sounds like a reaffirmation that Mandel will win the Ohio primary.
  18. I wouldn't hold your breath. Nothing reinforces "flyover country" better than becoming a rail road-block in the middle of states all investing in high speed. Ohio's backwood politicians are proud of the flyover status....
  19. I really wish they could do the little boat canals as we had seen quite a few years ago in a rendering.
  20. The old B&O would make a perfect tourist/visitor info center

I received this from the Cavs ticket sales department today and found it helpful in deciphering the upcoming week: Thank you for following along with the Cavs all season. In case you didn’t know, we have a HUGE game tonight against the Brooklyn Nets to decide if we get into the playoffs or not. Here are the possible outcomes of tonight’s game: · If we win tonight, we will be the 7th seed and face the Boston Celtics in a best-of-7 series. · If we lose tonight, we will have another chance to get in as the 8th seed on Friday. We would play the winner of Atlanta and Charlotte at home on Friday. · If we win the second game on Friday after losing tonight, then we will advance to the playoffs as the 8th seed to take on the Miami Heat. · If we lose the second game on Friday after losing tonight, then we will be eliminated completely from the postseason. Needless to say that tonight is the biggest game of the year, and I don’t want you to miss out on the chance to cheer the Wine and Gold on from home. Here are the details about tonight’s broadcast: · Game starts at 7 PM · TNT will be broadcasting the game starting with pregame coverage at 6:30. · Cavs social media will be providing updates throughout the game via Instagram, twitter, and snapchat. Get some good food, good people, and good energy ready to watch our team put on a show tonight! It’s time to shock the world again. Cheers to a Cavs W!!
  24. For a time I was meeting a friend up there for early morning walks on weekends--it was "interesting" to watch the residents just coming home at 6 am, clearly still in full party mode. The buildings south of the square on Moreland would have cars pulled up over the sidewalks and front lawns, with no Effs given... Hey put that car anywhere pal...you're good!
