  1. Years ago I lived in the Chesterfield at 12th/Chester. My apartment looked into the Doubletree hotel on the Chester end of Reserve Square. These rooms, for some reason, were favored by bachelor and bachelorette parties. Boy do I have some stories....
  2. I was really pushing for a Bills stadium around the old Central Terminal. Looks like they are staying in the burbs...bad news all the way around. Rod Watson: Bills déjà vu as opportunity slips away – again Now, our 13 seconds begin. As every Buffalo Bills fan knows, that’s how long it takes for euphoria to morph into regret as promise and possibility slowly become a huge missed opportunity. Granted, the elation is palpable this week after the state, county, team and National Football League all approved the deal to build a new Orchard Park stadium. Risking permanent shoulder injury, Gov. Kathy Hochul and County Executive Mark Poloncarz are reaching as far around as possible to pat themselves on the back. https://buffalonews.com/news/local/rod-watson-bills-d-j-vu-as-opportunity-slips-away-again/article_59ebba80-afd7-11ec-b9c2-df23d8e0d593.html?utm_campaign=snd-autopilot&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_The_Buffalo_News&fbclid=IwAR0UD5_4MrJlWrnSxaLUhIXl7YuPktny7wSvfynFWifYb43zFL58NqNfT8I
  3. What if we convinced 100,000 Ohios to march on Columbus?
  4. We would easily build another 250 Avon Lake style freeway interchanges before a plan like this would even be mentioned at ODOT.
  5. I guess we can't be flyover country if we have high speed rail cutting through our state.
  6. I guess with all my arguments for not covering PBS I have left out that yes, I think Cincinnati should build a new arena. I'm from Cleveland so I have no argument against the NKY site. Here in Cleveland we do have a world-class arena, and it has lead to some pretty significant events including the GOP national convention.
  7. I can believe them. In my own family we had at least a dozen baby boomers retire and move to North Carolina and Florida. And that's just my family...
  8. Stadiums are not great venues for car shows or conventions. Both require closely focused lights, sound and visuals, which is why you see the trim height in most convention centers around 25-30'. You wouldn't want to have to rig a piece of steel 285' to the upper roof to hang one light to highlight your Dodge Charger display.
  9. I know I've pointed this out on the Cleveland FIrst Energy Stadium thread before-- pick a domed NFL stadium in a similar sized market, like Indy for instance. Great modern stadium with connection to convention center. Then check out their event calendar: https://www.lucasoilstadium.com/events-tickets/ They have a weekend of monster trucks, some marching band championships (state capitol) and Def Leppard/Motley Crue in August (which would play PBS outdoors). And Indy is a bad example because it is the home of the NCAA so many college events seems to steer there. The point is there just isn't that many events that need this big of a space.
  10. Arena tours won't just play a stadium because it's the only building in town... You would have to also install a rigging grid and curtaining system to make a football stadium more intimate. There are only a couple stadiums in North America where I've seen this attempted (Alamodome in San Antonio, and Skydome in Toronto), and neither are particularly liked by artist, crews or fans. As for stadium level acts, they generally only tour in the summer, and don't really care if the crowd is covered or not.

Does it even matter with the way Ohio is leaning Trumplican?

Has anyone seen any Democrat rumblings to vote in the GOP primary for Dolan to try to knock the Trumpy candidates out?
  13. I've just spent the last week in Detroit which is the poster-child for white-flight in America. Let me tell you, their concrete is not a path to prosperity either. I thought our roads in Cleveland were bad....metro Detroit is literally crumbling.
  14. During the pandemic I was looking around and jobs to get out of the house and have a little fun around airplanes. I was surprised to see that aircraft fuelers only get paid $13/hour....
  15. The fact that we're in the richest country in the world and these kinds of conversations are happening is thoroughly depressing.
  16. I wasn't sure what thread to respond it. I believe we are going to find this is crew-related. A stuck horizontal stabilizer would result in an inverted parabolic dive, with the aircraft ending upside down. This looks like it was a deliberate act.
  17. Shootout in North Olmsted. At least the NOPD got to show off their giant black pickup truck. 🙄 North Olmsted police shoot Starbucks robbery suspect who shot at officers, city official says Updated: Mar. 21, 2022, 11:47 a.m. | Published: Mar. 21, 2022, 11:47 a.m. NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio – North Olmsted police shot a robbery suspect after he opened fire on the officers Monday morning, a city spokesman said. 18. It's these for well over a century. I'd gladly trade in the "new" use as a park for its return to a thriving center of transportation and commerce.
  19. I've been in Detroit the last few days for work. It's got a long way to go, but the changes downtown are stunning. Here's the progress of the Bedrock Hudson's development from yesterday:

This was a typo on my part, which I have just edited. It should have said I'm NOT enthused by Tim Ryan, but gave him money anyway. I'm with you anything is better than these race-to-the-bottom Trumplicans.
  21. Cleburger replied to Columbo's post in a topic in Ohio Politics
I'm NOT enthused by him, but seeing this I'm donating some money to Tim Ryan. I hope the turnout is there to at least put him close.
  22. If this didn't stop us from electing the leader of the free world.... Browns fans won't care if he delivers.
  23. Just make it proportional. Change the state constitution. I'm sick of being cheated out of my vote by these clowns.
  24. I believe it was Tyler Locket I don't disagree re Kaepernick, but should he join the team would be very noisy. But would also make for a great story if he's successful. I somehow doubt Jimmy Haslam would be down with the social justice points though....
  25. If they get Watson, Brokaw might as well fire up the QB mannequin again. Baker has played his heart out for this team. Give him one more year to see if he can lead them to glory.
