  1. Would you say the same thing about Strongsville? https://www.wkyc.com/article/news/local/multiple-people-reportedly-injured-during-drive-by-shooting-in-strongsville/95-0557e516-a514-4479-b4b7-a8dc99592e5f Or how about Mentor? https://www.cleveland19.com/2021/11/05/2-shot-mentor-drive-by-shooting/ Sure, downtown has it's share of mentally ill people in possession of guns, just like suburbia.
  2. ^^@KJP to whom can we voice our opposition to this permit?

I'm not from Columbus--what's the story on this beauty?
  4. The view from picking up my Starbucks yesterday morning. Very close to the view from Taza....
  5. I will also be there. Looking forward to finally meeting some UO folks after years on this site.
  6. How is this either concise, or geographically sensible? It also includes an ultra liberal college town.
  7. I wonder how much of this is cargo. There is definitely a lot more UPS/Fedex etc in and out of CLE these days.
  8. It does go both ways. At some point the Feds need to get involved and make it fair for everyone.
  9. I like this idea. Something on Public Square is geographically center in the central business district, therefore more convenient to all downtown residents and workers than a location on E 9th.
  10. Two things here: 1. These kinds of accidents also happen over land--at airports in the country at night with little or no visual cues. 2. All of these accidents illustrate why rich people die in their planes. They are in command of an aircraft they were able to afford, but is above their abilities. This combination invariably leads to poor choices. See JFK Jr.
  11. So crashes that can occur as a result of any airport take off operations...

The GOP primary TV spending has kicked off, first with this ad from Bernie Moreno. It's going to be a long winter.
  13. Moving this to the appropriate thread and asking what "fatal mishaps" have there been over the years?
  14. Not for the NFL. Both the Chargers and Rams are playing in the brand new Sofi Stadium.

The answer is simple. Roads don't get repaired, and large trash items aren't picked up. Sounds like an average day in the City of Cleveland...
  16. I wonder how resistant the bureaucracy will be to these kinds of changes at the top. Many of the leaders there have been entrenched for decades. Darnell Brown, the current Chief Operations Officer, has never worked for anyone but the City of Cleveland...
  17. My wife and I drove downtown yesterday evening for dinner in the Warehouse District. Despite having 2 surface lots closed off for the start of the Sherwin Williams project, it was still only $10 to valet at W 6th and St Clair. I wonder how long that will last?

As an aside, it is my understanding that union rules prohibit city mechanics from working on said plows until after a certain calendar date ever year, which is one of the reasons the city seems to start every snow season seemingly short on plows. If true, this is an incomprehensible rule that should be reviewed by the Bibb administration and done away with. There is no reason city mechanics should be sitting around in October with their feet up and not readying the plows for snow service.
  19. Does anyone know what the vacancy rate is in 200 PS? Would they have room to expand there?
  20. Unbelievable. In any other first world country this would have been done years ago.
  21. I would vote for happy hour/dinner since I might actually be in town for one of these!
  22. These were young men with little savings thanks to growing up in the depression then joining the services. I would also assume that post-depression there was not a lot of new inventory built in cities, rending the existing homes expensive. A cookie-cutter bungalow in a new mid ring suburb was probably the ONLY option for most.
  23. In all seriousness, there are much smaller streets nestled in cities all around the world. Somehow these locations all have trash service. It's a very Cleveland thing to say "it's not possible." I'm hoping this changes.
  24. You could put a black can in the middle of a parking lot with no traffic and the city couldn't adequately provide garbage service. If the City of Cleveland struggles with these kinds of basic services, maybe it's time to get rid of them all and start over. Hopefully a Bibb administration will figure out how to pick up these current and future residents' trash.
  25. With the only difference being German Autobahns never plowed directly through neighborhoods to the city centers. They were constructed with military movements in mind, and not suburban commuters.
