  1. Sam being Sam yesterday on the OC. I agree with some of his take that the road was mainly constructed for the benefit of commuters. What is developed there is an entirely different story... A Little Bit of Avon in the Forgotten Triangle, A Play by Play of Driving the Opportunity Corridor Posted By Sam Allard on Tue, Nov 30, 2021 at 7:15 am They are still calling it "Opportunity Corridor." Like, that's literally the name of the street, on street signs. Orlando Baking Company is now located at the corner of E. 75th Street and Opportunity Corridor. The Juvenile Justice Center is on Opportunity Corridor, just before Quincy, and so on. That this chamber-of-commerce branding persists in the absence of the promised opportunities is of course embarrassing, but it also confirms what many feared all along: that the branding was never more than propaganda to convince residents of Cleveland's poor, predominantly black southeast side neighborhoods, where 30-40 percent of residents don't even own a car, that a $260 million road from I-490 to the Cleveland Clinic would be more than a road. the rest: https://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2021/11/30/a-little-bit-of-avon-in-the-forgotten-triangle-a-play-by-play-of-driving-the-opportunity-corridor
  2. He just got divorced and is back on the market....

Time to bump up this thread. This is exactly the kind of story I hope a Bibb administration can start to curtail. Most all the rank-and-file city workers either don't do their jobs, or have their hands tied by insane union regulations prohibiting them from responding to early snow storms, etc.
  4. Yes you are correct re Nickel Plate. I just saw "New York" on the historic map and misspoke.
  5. Do you have anything of the former NY Central yard east of W 110th between Clifton and Detroit?
  6. These are all amazing! Thank you!
  7. It is amazing to me that this is one of 32 jobs in the world, and the guy they hire cannot do it well. If I was Stefanski, McGlaughlin would be on a Greyhound home tonight and a fresh guy in Berea tomrorow morning!
  8. So perhaps a Urban Ohio happy hour is in order?
  9. They seemed to have left out the 3 massive runways... 😜
  10. Clearly not part of the NHS system...so I doubt you'd see the Queen there. https://clevelandcliniclondon.uk/patients/payments I would also guess that long term this will hurt the Clinic main campus. Depending on the procedures provided, I'm sure many of the middle eastern royals will opt to fly to London for a procedure vs Cleveland. Most already maintain homes there.
  11. Imagine the savings in cash register receipt paper alone! 😜
  12. I was walking by today and saw a permit on the window. It says it's being built out as a Barnes & Noble. So I would imagine the one on Euclid is relocating?
  13. Exactly. In watching these people, I would guess more than half of them don't actually know it's a bus lane. Paint the lane red and they would notice (along with all the illegal parked cars).
  14. I was neutral on the naming...until I finally saw it on highway signs when driving through yesterday. Something about "Opportunity Corridor" on a highway sign makes it seem like we are desperate in Cleveland. Or perhaps, that the corridor actually lies to the west, somewhere between Cleveland and Toledo... 😜 Garrett Morgan Blvd would not have this same effect.
  15. Opinion piece on the matter, pushing for federal reform. There's only 1 real solution to partisan gerrymandering Time to get rid of single-member districts https://theweek.com/republicans/1007226/theres-only-1-real-solution-to-partisan-gerrymandering?utm_campaign=afternoon_newsletter_20211118&utm_source=afternoon_newsletter&utm_medium=email&refid=062F5F8702142E2FD3D4534530AD0535
  16. Rover is the morning guy on WMMS (syndicated nationally via Iheart). He makes living off 12 year old boy humor (fart and gential jokes). Basically Cleveland's version of "Dingo and the Baby"
  17. Should be really rough by then! Especially now with the OC open and fleets of SUVs crossing from Avon!
  18. Here here!
  19. WMMS is running promos to win a one year lease and be "Rovers Neighbor." I'm not sure how much of a selling point that is... :)
  20. From their link: Roll out the red carpet for buses. In 2020, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) approved the optional use of red paint on city streets to signify bus priority lanes. CPT recommends all current 24/7 bus lanes, such as on Superior Avenue, Ontario Street, and Euclid Avenue, be painted red to ensure bus priority and speed trip times. I would add the CSU Line on Clifton to this list. Commuters use the bus lane as a "I'll pass everyone on the right at 60 mph lane." Marking the lane would definitely cut down on this practice somewhat.
  21. It's a nice day. Is a tent even needed?
  22. This is the norm for event planning people working with the city of Cleveland.
  23. Trying to get out of your Yabo game day analysis duties?
  24. You didn't think Brian Hoyer would end up with better numbers than Baker? 🤦‍♂️
  25. This sounds like the signaling was left to the CIty of Cleveland streets department, who probably waited until 9 am this morning to start the project....
