  1. Nothing in this pilot presentation says how these ambassadors will actually "enforce" the payments? What is one of them going to do when some rowdy teenagers tell them to "F off" (which will happen on day one of this pilot)? Stop the bus and call the transit cops?

True--and even moreso when dealing with the City of Cleveland. The Feds have very specific guidelines for how plans are to be written and expenses all accounted for. This requires hundreds of hours of manhours in preparation, in a City Hall where not many manhours are produced daily. They are probably still thinking about talking about having a meeting to discuss hiring a consultant to guide them.

Kelley was the PRESIDENT of Council. I'm not aware of any positive changes at all that Kelley took a leadership role with. Please list them? Slow changes? I can name a few. He stood by while our recycling program went away slowly. He has overseen the slow decline of the West Side Market. He was in office when a tax increase was passed to increase services to its citizens, while slowly they've all gotten worse. Kelley was Council President when the DOJ slapped our police department with a Consent Decree, and also when the FAA levied huge fines against Hopkins Airport for letting their SIP program slowly go by the wayside. The only thing not moving slowly under Kevin Kelley have been the dirt bikes and ATVs racing around our streets and sidewalks. If this is Kevin's SLOW, then I'd hate to see his FAST. 😀

True. But a filter doesn't take away the fact that Kelley has presided over council, and let all the problems in the city continue to fester and grow. He is a reactionary thinker. Let a problem happen...then maybe the city will have to respond and fix it. The first thing Bibb should do is clean house in all the "management" roles at city hall that are filled with lackeys and political appointments (starting with Darnell Brown, a former meter reader that somehow is COO of the city). It's their lack of vision that keeps Cleveland from entering the 21st century, let along providing basic services to its residents.

I agree. Watched the entire thing on ideastream (which is up via the same link above for replays now). Kelly has a scowl on his face and seems totally condescending when talking to Bibb. As I watched it, I couldn't help but cringe at Kevin talking about his vision for the future of Cleveland's city technology and other backwards management style, yet he's sat in council for years and did nothing about the 25 year old website, the West Side Market, Hopkins airport etc etc.
  6. I also worry about the second to last drive, when we still had the lead. Baker seems to struggle when we just need a first down or two to grind out the clock. We have the best running game in football. I don't understand how we can't grind it out. But at the end of the day Baker put up 42 and the D gave up 47. There are issues well beyond Baker Mayfield. They need to find that balance of the Vikings game vs the Chargers game and become a complete championship team.

Are you aware if they re-routing any traffic during this project Ken? IIRC this bridge feeds the NS1 bridge at the mouth of the Cuyahoga, correct?
  8. The level of infrastructure investment in other countries is astounding.

As much as I love this, I have to admit there are plenty of fellow Gen X'ers fully captivated by the propaganda as well.

The only difference is, the right wing AM radio frequencies aren't capable of jumping over to FM frequencies and infiltrating your radio "feed." They also don't exist in everyone's pocket. Antivaxxers have always existed, but not NEARLY to the extent they do now, where in some southern school districts there are movements to end measles, mumps and rubella vaccination mandates. I like to say, there used to be a drunk guy at the end of the bar spewing his crazy nonsense to the three people willing to sit near him. Now that same guy speaks to the world. This won't end well...
  12. The entire city is bad at night. It's almost like everyone knows there is zero enforcement from CPD....

Early voting in Cleveland starts tomorrow, much to my chagrin as I stopped by the BOE today to vote....
  14. I had an appointment at UH today and the only benefit I see short term from this road is getting some of the idiot drivers off Chester and away from the reemerging neighborhoods east of 55th. People drive through there like there are no pedestrians within miles.

    At 1/3 the cost (hopefully)
  16. CSU has been talking about this since I was there (graduated in 94).

Definitely not Lakewood. Street is too wide and no curbs. I say straight up Brunstucky.

I give it another 10 years and someone will figure out how to aggregate the services and make sure everyone gets paid (much like Spotify and Apple finally figured out music). How many of us wouldn't just bite the bullet and pay $50/month for access to everything without having to worry about promos expiring, sharing with family etc. I welcome the day!
  19. As I'm sure they are as well, as I have forgotten it's already October and NBA preseason is underway!

It was a bad day there. Stock price also fell nearly 5% after the 60 minutes story.
  21. Good stuff! Keep your eyes open for Kevin Love and his better half, Kate Bock!
  22. Dolan would be wise to. The surest way to make everyone forget the "Indians" (and buy new Guardians swag) is to make a run at a World Series with some big free agents. Strike now before the fans get any more grumpy about the matter.
  23. I haven't seen his actual stats, but that had to be Baker's worst game since his rookie season? Thankfully the running game and defense stepped it up. That's what good teams do, so I'm told!

The Crain's endorsement is thoughtful, intelligent and on the money for Bibb.

This sounds like the anti-Obama talking points that were circulating in the Dem primaries of 2008. And he ended up being a fairly good leader. Further to this point, I guess we should fear the reactionary vote AFTER a couple Bibb terms, when a 87 year old Dennis! completely captures the racist "get off my lawn" crowd....
