Bibb is being honest. The others? They will tell you (while campaigning) "hell no." But once in office they realize that they are the landlord and don't want to lose the tenant and along with them, the city pride. So think what you want, but any one of those candidates would be putting tax dollars into the stadiums. There is too much at stake.
  2. This started long before the mayoral election. City government is currently dysfunctional. No one wants to do their regular jobs, let alone some sort of long term infrastructure planning like parking meters. My bet is the I-Team could run a daily story on every department in the City of Cleveland if they had the time.
  3. Could you give a synopsis for us non-subscribers?

I filled out and mailed my absentee ballot with a vote for Justin Bibb today. For me it comes down to a gamble, but I'm willing to try it over the council people who seem like a vote for the status quo: bloated city rank and file employees with hideous track records for service, and a police union that is completely demoralized and purposely dragging down response times. Or Kucinich, a vote for the status quo 40 years ago, and a Congressman that cared more about running for President than actually delivering for his district. Let's give Bibb a chance to bring fresh ideas to city hall.
  5. ^^this is the best possible solution to the problem.
  6. Or by actually make the city employees work an honest 8 hour day.
  7. Bravo! Much more of this in abandoned Cleveland buildings please!
  8. The worst part about this--many of the black owned vendors that bid on City of Cleveland contracts don't actually employ minority employees. They simply subcontract a white owned firm or business, and mark up their cost 10%.
  9. The Ontario side has always benefitted from the better view of the falls. Niagara Falls NY also has a long history of mafia leadership that have run the place into the ground.
  10. Yeah they probably have the larger travel agencies pushing it and selling the seats. 1x weekly should be no issue.

I love how the bass player, at 1:40, reaches up to adjust his tuning. As if he knew the difference when plotting to kill his parents in the basement of their church the following weekend.
  12. Weren't they all the Ohio-built Flxible buses?
  13. I saw this on Facebook today. Sort of sad but true for rural Ohio exits.
  14. Sad--as a frequent traveler this is the one place i use taxis as they are always lined up in the queue at most airports. No waiting or trying to find drivers. My only complaint at CLE was often drivers had to rely on GPS, but that's really no different than the usual Uber/Lyft driver these days.
  15. Totally. Smart business move by Rocco. Sherwin Williams should also be doing a rooftop bar event/space on their paint museum....but they will probably miss the boat.
  16. I really feel like SW is dropping the ball here. This is prime real estate if there ever was any in Cleveland. I realize they don't want public access to the building, but a rooftop bar/event space overlooking public square here would be great for the city, and their corporate events (they could close it down for private functions when necessary). Edit: I had a bar I once visited in Latvia on the mind when typing this so wanted to add a picture of a glass-enclosed, year round event space that could be...
  17. Standard semi trailer height is 13'6". Seated coach buses 12'6"->13' depending on what is on roof. And RTA buses shorter than this....
  18. It's always open. Not much there for lunchtime fun except the women's air and space museum and vending machines.
  19. What was the final attendance figure?

Which candidate won't? It's been there for decades, and only strengthened by the many terms of Frank Jackson and his COO Darnell Brown. I would trust an outsider from these people over someone who has been in council feeding the machine by placing friends and family in cush city jobs.
  21. I never knew--thanks!
  22. Perhaps someone with more map skills can determine actual distances from Google Maps. Using the 1000' touchdown aiming markers, I would estimate there is already at least 500' from the runway threshold. Keep in mind the Google Maps overhead view is showing the EMAS system which extends beyond the end of the runway. EMAS is an arrest system to stop airplanes from overrunning the runway. I would estimate that it is at least 500' long. So the walk/bikeway would only need to be some 500' further to the west as current FAA RSA designations have them set at 1000' from the runway end and 250' from the runway centerline.

Donkey and other animal-drawn carts were forms of transportation then. And check out this photo from 1907, where transportation certainly played a huge role in the life of the square, as it does in many European public squares (where cyclists and pedestrians walk inches from trams).
