Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Also it would be on the high fringe of 20 minutes (maybe pushing 30 from OC), but I would recommend Kleifeld's in downtown Willoughby. It's been there for nearly 100 years and is a true small town greasy diner experience. https://kleifelds.com

CLEVELAND - More observations
Technically there are also the residences in the Terminal Tower at the very end of Euclid anchoring the corridor?

No Grumpy's on W 14th in Tremont? A must for good brekkie!
-
Cleveland: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
This is happening today on Clifton at W 117th. It will likely be a pretty big traffic mess with the Lake Ave and Edgewater Drive construction happening on top of a sunny Sunday at Edgewater park!

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
City of Cleveland (probably Parks & Maintenance). They are awful at their jobs. Nothing is done until lots of complaints come in.

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
I constantly see the Baby Boomers left out of these current discussions. That is a huge swath of our demographic who are all currently between 57-75 years old and retiring in droves. Many have owned houses in California for 30+ years so why not cash out and move some place quiet with extra money in your account.

Ohio: Recycling News & Info
For Cleveland residents, info on the city's new opt-in recycling program. Here’s what you need to know about the city’s new opt-in recycling program After a year-and-a-half long hiatus, curbside recycling is coming back to the city of Cleveland. Clevelanders have until Oct. 22 to opt-in to the new service through an online form or by calling 216-664-3030. Because the program is optional, those who don’t sign up will have their blue bins removed by the Division of Waste Collection. The Great USA / World Photo Thread
Approximately 35 nautical miles as the crow flies over the lake. Quite a spectacular view! I'm really surprised there isn't commercial ferry service from Toronto to Niagara Falls to cut off that trip around the lake.

Clearly you haven't been to Home Depot or Lowes in the last 12 months.... 😜

Cleveland: Bars / Nightlife News
I see crowds of men with bad tribal tattoo sleeves, sun glasses on their foreheads and doused in Drakkar.

And one World Series win will make all the whiners forget the Indians name. Let's hope its against a team who's fans haven't had a 100 year drought like the Cubs....

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Summer is waning. I'm surprised they weren't all over this earlier in the year to be ready for May/June, especially coming out of a year of Covid and need for outdoor space.

Akron: Historic Photos
Akron was quite the little industrial powerhouse in its heyday! The reason I'm here is my ancestors migration from Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Tennessee, all seeking work in the many rubber and chemical factories of Akron. After serving as an army nurse in the South Pacific in World War 2, my grandmother came home, married my grandfather and settled in Akron following other family members who had worked there during the war. She wasn't content to settle down like other good housewives after the war (she was a first lieutenant in the army after all and of course outranked my grandfather). So she took a job with Goodyear as a flight nurse, based out the air-dock at Akron Fulton pictured here. In my childhood she had retired, but would take me to the building to visit her friends. This building was mind-blowing as a child, and is still impressive to this day. If the current owner Lockheed Martin ever has an open house, I would encourage everyone to drop in and check it out!

U.S. House OH-11
It is to the millions of us that took it on student loan debt and paid it. I'm not opposed to cancelling it--if you sign on for a four year hitch in the army etc. Or maybe we should do a Depression-era program like Civilian Conservation Corps?

Cleveland: City Services
I missed it on the letter yesterday, but there is an online form to submit these suggestions. Do your thing Urban Ohio! https://www.clevelandohio.gov/arpa

U.S. House OH-11
She also sounds a lot like Trump in her Twitter feed and her many talking head appearances on news networks, yelling and screaming at people (which was the main reason I voted for Ms Brown)

Cleveland: City Services
I don't disagree with you, however I feel like it's unrealistic if the city is "only" getting $511 million from the Feds. I do know one thing that the city will like to filter it out to all their departments and grease the wheels of their loyalists. With this in mind, I was wondering if there is a more "shovel-ready" project that I could put on this that might actually get done with enough responses and support for it.

Cleveland: City Services
Resurrecting this thread for a piece of mail I received this week from the City of Cleveland requesting their input on how best to spend the $511 in ARPA funds. Any suggestions from the Urban Ohio camp? 😜

U.S. House OH-11
What politician doesn't? In fact if we were all given the chance to vote on a raise for ourselves, we would do it.
-
U.S. House OH-11
My wife and I walked to vote this morning around 7 am. Neighborhood seemed to be leaning Nina Turner based on yard signs. When we entered the polling place, there was one other voter there. I feel like if everyone shows up then Nina Tuner will win for sure. I voted for Shontel, because I don't want another absurd and member of Congress from Ohio making national headlines. Jim Jordan is enough for us.

To be clear, US Bank Arena was in Cincinnati (not sure of naming rights now) US Bank Stadium is in Minneapolis.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
On another Lakefront note, I was down in that area this past weekend and it was utter chaos in the intersection around E 9th/Marginal/Erieside Ave. The city traffic department really needs to rethink this intersection as it has become downright dangerous on nice-weather weekend days. The E 9th traffic northbound has no stop sign, while the other three directions do, causing much confusion for drivers turning onto E 9th southbound. In the midst of it all, there are lots of out-of-town visitors walking in the street from the parking on Marginal not paying attention to where they are going. I suppose this another piece of the Lakefront puzzle that needs thoughtful attention, and will not get it from the current city leadership.

NFL: General News & Discussion
I am tied to Buffalo by marriage and say there is no way the Bills leave Buffalo. Owner Terry Pegula is heavily invested in Buffalo already and is only leveraging the move threat to get public funding for the only NFL franchise that actually plays in the state of New York. Personally I hope they leave Orchard Park and move into the city of Buffalo. There is lots of open land around the Central Terminal there, which would make for an amazing NFL experience complex included around the stadium.

Cleveland: West Side Market News & Info
Op-ed: The West Side Market is a cultural institution. Let's fix its problems before it's too late. When I was six or seven years old, I thought the most prestigious university in the world was WSMU. At every family gathering, my uncle would invariably invoke the lessons learned at WSMU to settle any argument. It wasn’t until I was a little older that I learned WSMU was not a college at all, but instead my uncle’s euphemistic reference to the hard-scrabble education one gains by working for decades at the West Side Market. the rest... https://www.thelandcle.org/stories/op-ed-the-west-side-market-is-a-cultural-institution-lets-fix-its-problems-before-its-too-late?fbclid=IwAR2JGKrkqvgAVksPCf4Qp94FwN0237cpcSPDjTNyMbKjiigGaZEWpoTvHRg
